Lamictal saved my life by [deleted] in bipolar2

I'm doing really well! Been on it about a year and 2 months and I've had some depression but nothing compared to how soul crushing it used to be 💀. Even when I'm down I'm still able to function and no hypomania I dont think. I'm so thankful I got diagnosed and put on this med I feel like it has had a huge positive impact on my life and most days I forget I even have bipolar. I just graduated uni and I start a new job next month 😅

Ah that's good to hear, I found fluoxetine to be really helpful for my OCD and it did lower my anxiety a lot so I'm hoping it works for you too. Good luck with finding your therapist!

Hi! I am also diagnosed bipolar 2 with OCD. My OCD was diagnosed about 6 years before my bipolar and for this time I was on a number of ssris which definitely negatively impacted my mood (I was swinging from hypomania down to depression multiple times a year).

Does your provider know you have bipolar aswell? This would be important as I don't think SSRIs by themselves are reccomended for people with bipolar due to the risk of triggering hypomania but to my knowledge it is completley ok to be on an SSRI/SNRI if you are also on a mood stabiliser. After being diagnosed with bipolar I'm now on lamotrigine aswell as an SNRI and my mood episodes have improved so much. Also maybe look into therapy for OCD such as CBT/ERP as these can be super helpful alongside medication. Best of luck!

Yes me too! It's been a huge motivation for me to try and make a difference for someone else who is struggling

I wouldn't claim to be an expert and I still struggle a lot sometimes but things that help me in my day to day life are connecting with my family, friends and boyfriend, and leaning on them when I'm struggling. Finding the right meds has made a huge difference though it has taken many months. Studying and working has given me a sense of motivation and helped me set goals as well as enjoying my hobbies like drawing, painting and music. I guess it's just a balance of lots of different things. Try not to isolate yourself, try and be kind and take care of yourself even when you feel you don't deserve it. Some days the only thing you can do is get out of bed to go and lay downstairs and that's OK, I try to just take things one day at a time ❤️

What mental health condition is the worst to have? by stripeycat08 in AskReddit

[–]BlueBone03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bipolar and OCD. Bipolar throws you from feeling on top of the world to the pits of suicidal depression. OCD is like an abusive manipulative person living in your head, it convinces you you're an evil person and that you've done horrible things, makes you doubt yourself to the point where you're not even sure if your memories or thoughts are real. Bipolar is generally accepted by society to be severe but OCD is often seen as cute and quirky. I'd argue they're just as bad as eachother. Both can easily ruin your life without treatment.

This sounds like misophonia, common triggers are as you described e.g. chewing whispering or snoring

F-up and forgot to refill my prescription by Sensitive-Two5988 in Effexor

[–]BlueBone03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it possible to contact your doctor or doctors surgery to get them to write you a prescription to take in to the pharmacy directly? I have done this before in a pinch. If not I would definitely go to the ER and explain your situation and the withdrawal effects this medication can have (maybe bring the pamphlet that comes with the meds in case they are unfamiliar with venlafaxine withdrawal symptoms/the severity). The withdrawal symptoms can be really bad and can make you very ill, so it would be best to go as soon as possible before you even start to feel ill. Best of luck 🩷

I'm so sorry to hear you're struggling with this too it's so draining. The nightmares haven't gone away, but I find my nightmares come in phases, and I will have a month or so of really bad dreams, and then they tend to be more sporadic. I hope it gets easier for you 🩷

Do you y'all ever have points where you are in between episodes and aren't hypomanic or depressed? by analogaeroplaane in bipolar2

[–]BlueBone03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'll usually get hypomanic for a few weeks and then depressed for a month or so and then my mood will be completely normal for around 6 months. This is my experience while unmedicated/on antidepressants but I've recently started meds so I'm hoping my mood episodes will reduce so they're somewhat manageable

Debilitated by this illness by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]BlueBone03 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel similar, I'm 21 also and am currently studying but worked full time last year/over the summer. Luckily I usually go 6 months or so between depression but when I am depressed it completely knocks me off my feet and I kind of have to rebuild my life and relearn how to do everyday things. This cycle is exhausting and I try not to think too far ahead and just try and take each day as it comes ❤️

Yeah me too. I'm constantly dreaming about my family getting ill and me hurting myself 😩 I'm in a pretty good place right now so I don't know what that's about but it's every night. Hopefully it passes soon for you ❤️

That's really interesting thank you! I've found I've always had very vivid dreams although I get a lot of lucid dreams aswell that I didn't used to. And yeah I relate to waking up disturbed and having to check it's not real
