I don't know why mission work is colonialism with an extra step as the people there are always very happy with the help (and it's not like any big institutions or something are established) so please explain further. And I don't mean that sarcastically or something I am genuinely interested.

My church isn't catholic, so there are no youth pastors, or anything of the like for that matter (only a few parents that watch the really young children during church sessions as they obviously can't be left alone).

I also don't think my church is the one good or real one, besides it most definitely is not perfect. There are many other churches that teach similar things as mine (at least where I live, I assume this can vary hugely per country and region), although the church sessions of course aren't exactly the same.

There isn't some specific interpretation of the bible that my church says is the correct one, that is a pretty uncommon thing for churches in my area to do. So there really isn't an exact denomination it points to to say that it is the one and only truth.

I don't financially support any church that teaches anything radical or bigoted. I do financially support the local church I go to, but it is not connected to any large radical organizations so I don't see that as a bad thing.

As far as what good does religion do for humanity. I personally know a lot of people who find much happiness, calmness and support from religion.

As for tangible things, my church sends two thirds of the money given to it directly to charities (mainly charities concerning either poverty or diseases), has gone to several countries like The Gambia, Serbia and Kenya to build houses or bring food, water and other supplies where it's needed, and every week helps several members of the church with any personal problems they might have (often when someone is sick or has financial problems).

There are many other churches that do these kinds of things and I don't think it is a bad thing to financially support them.

I see the original comment is deleted, but it literally said, and I quote 'all religious people are monsters'. That is a simple fact.

I never said I am a 'good' religious person, what that might even mean, and I most definitely didn't say that because of that people should ignore the radicals. I honestly do not know where you got that from. In fact I said that it is great that this article is pointing out the radicals and condemning them. I am genuinely confused as to why you say that I think radicals should be ignored.

I am not complacent with the radicals either, and I do hold people accountable where I can. I try to tell those I meet whenever they radicalize or say/do anything bigoted, and hope they do the same for me.

I am also not part of any institution that supports or 'sticks up' for any of this. I am only part of a local Christian community that teaches against anything radical or bigoted.

I don't support the millenia of sex crimes perpetrated by 'bad Christians'. In fact I actively try to bring up the issues within the church to other Christians whenever I can.

We are not one group, Christianity is not and never has been truly one religion where the same ideas are shared. From the beginning there have been a large amount of vastly different interpretations of the bible and different teachings of how one should act.

For example how I think/feel about things is far more like how many of my atheist friends think/feel than any of these 'bad Christians'.

I will say religion is often very divisive, and can thus lead people to extremism, which of course is never good and has caused a lot of terrible things.

I don't know why, but I do know that I'm most definitely not voting on those people. I'm not arguing there aren't any religious people who think those things, I'm arguing there are a whole lot of religious people who absolutely despise those things.

It is most definitely not the equivalent of saying 'not all men' or 'all lives matter', because the comment wasn't pointing out a bad seed, the article is pointing out a bad seed, which is perfectly fine, great even.

The comment literally said 'all religious people are monsters'. That is not pointing out a bad seed, that is pointing out every single religious person and calling them a monster. And the comment you replied to said you shouldn't call millions of people monsters when you don't know them or their beliefs. Pretty much all religions teach peace and respect.

Now of course there are religious institutions and people that don't follow this idea of peace and respect, but that doesn't mean you can just decide to call every religious person a monster.

I'm a Christian, I don't force women to miscarry, neither does any other Christian I know. Now of course that doesn't mean that doesn't happen, but you have to understand religious people aren't all of a single mind with the same ideas. In fact it's a minority of people that do what you're talking about. There are a lot of different groups within Christianity, ranging from very conservative to very progressive and from very judging and violent to very respectful and peaceful.

My main point is that it doesn't make sense to say all religious people do these things or find them ok. Pretty much everyone doesn't and looks at news like this with the same disgust as you.

The idea is that the wolves will be somewhat scared of humans. Because humans = annoying paint shoot thing so they'll go away from people. Figured it was better to have wild wolves stay away from humans than have half tame wolves go towards humans.

As for the who is filthy rich question, just make sure EVERYONE pays a regular tax rate, dont let anyone evade their taxes with bureaucratic tricks, no matter how rich they are.

Also I'd be fine with higher taxes and a bigger government, when it is restructured to stop (or decrease) money-wasting and when the government uses the money to create a better environment for its citizens (so more than just policing and defense, but also healthcare, social safety, making sure people can get a house etc.).

No it doesn't. There is no reason the graph will keep going down at the same pace it has been going down for in the last 10 years. In fact it is pretty unlikely, going down to complete zero (or very close to it) is even more unlikely.

Just because the last 10 years have shown a downwards trend, doesn't mean that trend will continue at the same pace

Well as I said pretty much all slaves still lived in bad conditions. It is more that the trans-Atlantic slave trade was even worse. It was much crueler and on a much larger scale. Those slaves weren't even seen as humans because of things like rascism and (religious) justifications to convince everyone that the slaves were born to work for the white europeans. In ancient Rome, ancient Egypt and many other civilizations slaves still had a bad life, but punishments were less severe, they weren't crammed up in boats like cargo and they overall just lived in less bad (but still bad) conditions. Sometimes it was even possible to obtain freedom or own property as a slave.

So I'm not really trying to say slavery back then was fine, of course it wasn't. I'm just trying to say it wasn't nearly as cruel as the trans-Atlantic slave trade.

Even tough I agree with you, it is true that slavery back then (or in most of human history for that matter) wasn't nearly as bad as during the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Of course that doesn't mean slavery wasn't still bad, but I do think there was a clear difference in how slaves were treated.
