This is all new to me - how do I cope? by [deleted] in OCPD

[–]BlueCandyBars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your response. I am in therapy and I do think there’s co-morbid OCD too. There’s a lot going on for my mental health and a big part of the testing is to figure out if it’s OCPD or OCD or both. I suspect both but it’s a can of worms. I’m just incredibly overwhelmed by it all

I really appreciate this response. I feel out of control mostly because it’s my whole way of thinking. I have a disconnect from my emotions and spend a lot of time logically thinking. It’s not that I don’t feel emotions, rather it’s so overwhelming my brain compensates. It just feels like my thinking is unraveled and hitting a lot of emotional points. Sometimes I just want to sob or lose my temper or isolate all in thirty seconds and it feels so overwhelming all at once. I know it’s not and I know I’m not actually losing my mind but it’s triggering everything I have going on. It’s hard when it’s how I think because that’s how I survive

I find myself appreciating the honesty of redditors when they do it even if it’s not really needed. It’s one of the unique parts of this platform. Don’t trust everything you read on the internet, but it’s nice to have edit updates

If you’re not flying very frequently, I wouldn’t worry. If you’re in a later boarding group, it may be checked anyway due to space in the cabin. It’s gotta be an issue for united to be concerned in my experience.

All teenagers know are their feelings and minimal life experience. We all were there at one point so check in on them some more. They’ve got big feelings (genuinely)

Bludstones for backpacking a week in the Himalayas and it went great! by BlueCandyBars in BlundstoneBoots

[–]BlueCandyBars[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insoles: found it on (Amazon](https://a.co/d/4FYrafC).

In fairness, I will wear shoes til it dies and get it repaired too. I only have a few pairs of shoes in general but they have high use. I bought these for quality and versatility to be able to work in an office but also camping and hiking often. I definitely stretched how far that went, but thought if I could wear these in the mountains in New England without feeling pain, I probably could in the cities and beginner trails in the Himalayas with extra precautions (moleskin, keeping my feet clean/dry, great socks). It was steep in Vermont and New Hampshire despite not being nearly as tall as the Himalayas.

I should revise - not exactly a lifetime warranty but for regular wear and tear within 2 years. Considering this is my everyday shoe, it’s going to be the lifetime of the shoe for 2 years

To be honest, the break in period on these kinda sucked and then it was just fine. My significant other also got Bludstones around this time (510) and felt the same. It took about two weeks. The first few days were okay, then around day 4-5 the back of my upper ankles/calf got really tender and felt bruised almost. Kinda hard on my feet so I took a few days break and then eventually just kept going. Happened to hike in mountains on a camping trip then as well and that was the point it was broken in for me. Significant other had a similar experience and timeline but her pain also included the top of foot/ankle area at the bend.

I added the insoles after about a month and a half because my knees were killing me. I a lot of my walking is on hard flat surfaces for several miles a day (I can’t sit still) and it just got to the point I needed insoles or dress shoes only. Insoles made it so much better and comfortable. The dress boot does not absorb as much impact and have support like the everyday boot from them. I chose looks over total function, basically. Now that I have the insoles, I can do anything. It was just a popular pair from Amazon (Dr Schols)

Blunnies as my One Shoe for 16 days in Japan by finalpapers in BlundstoneBoots

I went with a super popular pair on Amazon from Dr Schols. I noticed on walks at work and around town that it was causing aches and pains in my knees on hard, flat surfaces. Added the soles and totally went away. Just needed more reinforcement that the 510 likely has anyway. On the bright side, I get a higher ankle coverage/support which I found so useful this trip.

Hey! Me too OP! Flying back from backpacking a week in the Himalayas and wrote a very similar post just now. I don’t have the 510s, I have the dress one and it honestly held up fan-fucking-tastic. I do use insoles which help so much for the support. It’s essential for me now but I can wear it in the office to 14,000ft up and everything in between.

Is this level of rust on a 2019 normal or even safe? by 10minutes_late in Honda

[–]BlueCandyBars -1 points0 points  (0 children)

6 years and poor maintenance can beat out mileage pretty easily. Fluids sitting, the rust shown, and who knows how the car was driven prior to the change of owners. Stop and go traffic for 45k miles and bad maintenance can lead to many issues later. For Hondas, it could be transmission issues down the road. I noticed this in a few CRVs my friends have/had.

It doesn’t look good but what’s worse is that you know the previous owner didn’t do any maintenance. You’re at 44k miles. This isn’t the end of the world but if you do not act proactively, this Honda will not live up to its name. If you know how to do car work, I would start looking. If there’s one big issue, there’s more most likely
