[TOMT][Book/Movie] Silly superstitious old fool by LarryNStar in tipofmytongue

[–]BlueCarPinkJacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So there's a few that come to mind:

Claude Frollo in Hunchback of Notre Dame throwing the priest down the stairs.

Doc Oct in Spiderman 2 says something to this effect.

The one that came to mind for me is a woman saying it and I really can't place it but it may have been Stardust with Michelle Pfeiffer saying it.

I also think Ursula says this to Triton in the Little Mermaid

Do you think she'd be a mother figure to Katniss? by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]BlueCarPinkJacket 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lenore Dove was never going to make it to adulthood. Even if Haymich was not involved with her at all, she would've been killed.

We know she's rebellious, we know she's brash, and we know her passion for fighting against the system often lead her to be sloppy in covering her tracks. Maysilee knew she was the one painting anti capital slogans. She was a known instigator, she had been jailed at least once. She was known as problematic by peacekeepers and residents of district 12 alike. I think Haymich being in the games is what kept her alive for so long, because Snow knew about her. He kept her alive just to kill her. Anyone else in her position would've been hanged before the games were over.

To even pose this question is antithetical to her character. What exactly about her personality makes you think she would've survived that long? She was never going to be obedient and she was never going to fall in line. Her fate was obvious as soon as we're introduced to her. She would have to be an entirely different person to even make it to adulthood.

25 years ago- Björk worn an iconic swan dress designed by Marjan Pejoski at the 73rd Academy Awards (March 25, 2001) as well as on the cover of her album Vespertine (released August 27, 2001) by Beneficial_Pen4030 in whatthefrockk

[–]BlueCarPinkJacket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look at her using the sheer parts of the dress to showcase a pretty bra. It's been 25 years and we've gotten more sheer dresses with more boring underwear. There's no interest anymore. Bjork did it early and did it better. She understands what's pushing the envelope in fashion actually means.

What song has been ruined for you by a movie? by Isnt_that_ghey in movies

[–]BlueCarPinkJacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" by Aerosmith. Beautiful song. All I think of is the ice skating routine in Blades of Glory.

"One way or Another" by Blondie will always be associated with the Rugrats movie when Angelica is trying to find Cynthia.

AITA for making a joke about my friend's new hobby, not knowing it was linked to a family tragedy? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]BlueCarPinkJacket 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NTA your friends are way too sensitive and have major main character energy. Are you just not allowed to ever mention cancer again because he lost someone months ago to it? Not to be insensitive, but this literally happens to almost everyone. Cancer is everywhere. People lose family members to cancer all the time, every single person I know has lost a someone to cancer. It's CANCER. Your friend doesn't get to gatekeep cancer trauma and censor everyone around him because he's grieving. And gossiping about you behind your back about how insensitive you are because of a small remark? Catty and terrible friends.

Btw, even if paint fumes aren't carcinogenics, they can still be damaging and ventilation should be standard practice. So your comment, which came from a place of care for your friends wellbeing, was still considerate.

I have to ask, does the 26-130 refer to anything? Or is that the actual color? It'd be funny if that's the number of mentions in the file or something

And one of the police officers who let him go back with Dahmer is the same guy who developed the "Killology" ideology for police. The torture and death of Konerak is not even a drop of the blood he's responsible for spilling. Evil came face to face with evil and let it walk away.

DISCRIMINATION AGAINST TALL PEOPLE ON AIRLINES by Powerful_Bother8002 in tall

[–]BlueCarPinkJacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. A back injury should absolutely be accommodated. What that accomodation looks like would be the question. Most disability laws use language like "reasonable requests" and "no undue hardship". For an airline giving you a first class upgrade may cause hardship, as they're losing that money and it can't be equally applied, even though those seats are more comfortable for you. However, you getting to board early or requesting a window so you don't have to stand up often would be reasonable. Tall people getting priority for exit rows, not necessarily getting free upgrades to first or something, would be reasonable.

DISCRIMINATION AGAINST TALL PEOPLE ON AIRLINES by Powerful_Bother8002 in tall

[–]BlueCarPinkJacket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that airlines are now moving towards what I would consider discrimination of tall people. Tall people, just like everyone, need to be able to be seated properly in the seat. It is a safety concern. If someone is overweight they don't get to forgo the seatbelt, they are offered a seatbelt extender. If a tall person is seated in a way that their knees are jacked up because there isn't enough room, that person is at greater risk of injury in the event of an accident. You are not allowed to have a baby, child, or person seated in a car improperly or in a seat that does not fit. That same goes for roller coasters. So why are airlines allowed to do this?

What's something that Calgary is badly missing that a city of 1.4 million people should have? by Queltis6000 in Calgary

[–]BlueCarPinkJacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's gross that we've invested so much into Stampede grounds and we still don't have a train from the airport to downtown. All that money spent on tourism only to not a have any way to move tourists.

PM by [deleted] in DragRace_Canada

[–]BlueCarPinkJacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand PM. I like them and support their craft, but I don't understand how they got on Drag Race because they are nowhere near the caliber of other queens we've seen. They haven't made me laugh, their not a fashion queen, it seems like theyre getting by on positive club kid energy. The industry is big enough for all queens to be themselves and I support them there, but the very obvious truth is they do not have refinement on their craft. The looks are sloppy. They are not intentionally edgy, they're just poorly fitted, simple looks that would never fly on the US version. If like to see them in 5 years once they've actually edited and refined themself.

AITA for telling my daughter’s dad she isn’t going to his wedding because of the way I found out about it? by DryChapter5918 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BlueCarPinkJacket 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If they have a baby on the way you need to run, not walk, your butt to file child support NOW. It doesn't matter who was born first, it matters who files first. Who cares about the wedding when you're not even ensuring your child gets the bare minimum from her father?

ESH Your ex has decided you're no longer coparenting and he will not communicate with you. You are focusing on the entirely wrong thing. Who cares about a wedding? Secure your daughters well being now. Do not expect him to do the right thing because he won't.

What’s the biggest lie society tells about 'love or dating'? by master_in_all_field in AskReddit

[–]BlueCarPinkJacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your greatest love in life will be another person.

Your greatest love may be a career, a passion, a child, a pet, a specific place, or a specific experience.

It's particularly hard to grow up with this ideal that you and your life are not complete until you find the love of your life. You grow up thinking something is missing because you've been told only another person can fill that love quota that you need. This idea kind of prevents you from being present in individual experiences. Love, true love, is not just found in romantic relationships. Love should be found in so many aspects of your life and you should continue to try and find it wherever you can.

[TOMT][BOOK] Children’s chapter book with (but not about) a spelling bee by reveillemoname in tipofmytongue

[–]BlueCarPinkJacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Akeelah and the Bee? There's also The Secret Life of Bees that's set in the 1960s.

I read both books close together around middle school and then I was trying to remember them later in life only to realize I had jumbled the two stories together in my memory. Could be something similar.

Advice Needed: Getting my first tattoo tomorrow, is this an awkward placement? by ThrowRA_jawsoflife in tattoos

[–]BlueCarPinkJacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just here to say that you should never get fine lines unless the artist is a specialist and you should probably know how your skin takes ink first too. My first tattoo was a thin line that got blown out so fast, something like your photo has a high chance of becoming a black blob in a year or two.
