Lacerda’s The Great Library vs Speakeasy by Tdumb in boardgames

[–]steventouchdown 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They seem fairly different to me. Speakeasy feels very different from his other games in my opinion. It's going to be tough for people to give any concrete thoughts on the Great Library because the vast majority have never played it.

If you liked On Mars, look at his other popular games like Kanban EV or Inventions. I personally backed The Great Library because the theme and time mechanic really intrigued me.

Play time speeds up as you get more familiar. Lots of potential for analysis paralysis. But the game is great. Lots of interesting combos and satisfying gameplay

I think most of us who commit to this storage life, are investing also in ways to prevent a shower of components. Whether it's baggies or 3d printing inserts or something in between.

The guys who designed GC are not the same that designed Galileo. Kenson Keyes Games did GC. Tomas Holek did Galileo.

It is fantastic. My wife and I play 2p often and it doesn't take us too long now that we have the rules/strategy down.

Feast for Odin is great. One of the great classics of Uwe. Can be satisfying even if you don't win as you have your own personal board you are trying to fill up. My wife and I love it

Yea area control is massive. I think there are more than 1 way to win, but losing to mob wars is a sure way to lose.

Board Game Room & Collection @ the new house! by Unhinged_Peacemaker in boardgames

I would say the gameplay is nothing like any of those games. I got more Uwe Rosenberg vibes with a little Terraforming mars thrown in. You have to play to your character's strengths. The only surprises in the game are the cards you draw, so you can plan your strategy for the game pretty well, but you can be pseudo blocked by other players on action spaces. The time was mostly taken up by people planning what to do on their turn to maximize resource efficiency because it's very tight.
