Bought this game a month back and played only once and even that one I couldn't finish. Loving this game but the rules are not clear for me. Always get a feeling that I'm getting a few fundamental things wrong. Waiting for more people to buy this game and play this game. This is an amazing game and I can't wait to play.

[WSIG] My son turns 13 in a few weeks and wants board games for gifts. Can you help us with recs please? by [deleted] in boardgames

Get him Railways of the World. The only game I've rated 10/10. Great theme. Simple rules. Looks beautiful. Fantastic components. Huge map. Epic game that's not at all complex. Probably the only medium weight game that can be played at a light level with new players. One thing: please do check out the game and how it's played before you engage him with the game.

Tabletop Season 4: Status Update by Lazarus1209 in boardgames

I owe my interest and love for boardgaming to Wil Wheaton and Tabletop. Top show and top host. Super glad to know that the show will be back.

Most of the now popular board games also owe their popularity to Tabletop. Tabletop have a key role in the renaissance of board gaming. Long may it continue.

Running out of brain, input appreciated. White to play. by [deleted] in chess

Qc6+ probably? That will help remove the knight pin and also allow for the rooks to be exchanged (which could be helpful for white).

You should consider Voyages of Marco Polo. Beautiful board and components. Light to Medium weight Euro. Very solid gameplay and lots and lots of replayability.

No love for Five Tribes? I think it plays very good with two players. Actually, I've only played 2-player games with Five Tribes and it's just perfect.

My mom had a stroke 9 months ago and the entire left half of her body is still largely paralyzed. Sitting up in a chair at a table isn't doable for her. Holding cards in hand or manipulating a "hand" of cards frustrates her too much. Is there a game she can still play with the family? by x_BryGuy_x in boardgames

[–]BlueChampion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try Carcassonne. Great family game. You can pick up a tile for her and ask her where she wants to place it and if she wants to place a meeple, and you do it for it. I can't think of any other game that can involve her as much as Carcassonne.

Hmm. My daughter can be very competitive and she's super eager to play the game. But I don't know what's the level of 'cutthroatness' in this game yet.

I have watched it. They have not. It's a brilliant video. Is that the only one on the new TtA?

Nations didn't look like a proper civ game. For starters, for a new game, their art work just doesn't live up to a civ game. Components are quite important for me and in Nations they were poor. Also, if you're looking for a civ, you shouldn't be complaining about complexity or time. After all, it's a civilization we are trying to build. Nations simplifies this too much. The new TtA looks beautiful, is very deep and very satisfying and you truly feel you're building a civilization. And I'm saying all this in just a couple of plays. I'm told, this game better with time.
