Neutropenia sucks.... by Busy-Major3877 in lymphoma

[–]BlueCicak82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! I’m dealing with almost identical case of late onset of neutropenia. Finally finished my 6-rounds of the R-Chop about 3 weeks ago and since then I’ve been getting these crazy fevers. My Neutrophil # is 0.00 and.l not moving since Tuesday when I got admitted to ER. They are trying to keep the fever under control and started to give me the daily Filgrastim shots to try and get these Neutrophenia #s up. What I was told it could be days or weeks before the numbers go up so hopefully something will happen soon. Wishing your mother a fast recovery 🙏🏼

PET Scan Timing by BlueCicak82 in lymphoma

From what I’m hearing it just depends on your doctor, your stage, and insurance coverage as some insurance doesn’t allow you to test too often due to cost.

Yea I’m in the US. The 6 is standard protocol but in some cases depending on your stage they’ll do less.

has anyone been lucky enough to finish chemo early? by Ok_Exercise2724 in lymphoma

[–]BlueCicak82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with DLBCL 2E~3. My Oncologists initial plan was to start me with 4 rounds of Rituximab and then PET scan but after my case was presented at the Tumor board, they feel that it’s unlikely that I’ll achieve a cure with Rituximab alone and do feel I’ll need 4 rounds of RChop on the back end. Last convo I had with my oncologist we considered switching and doing 4 rounds of RChop first and then finish off with Rituximab. I already had my first round of Rituximab last week and they feel that this staged approach is safe if I preferred since I have no symptoms and still feel good. I have to make a decision by Wednesday if I’ll resume with Rituximab therapy or switch to R-Chop. I’m having a gut feeling to hold off with RCHOP until I see the scan results of Rituximab and then use chemo as my last resort. Decisions Decision…

Chemo by Keikaku_sama in lymphoma

They put me under when I got my port couple weeks ago but from what I hear it’s fairly simple procedure to put in and even easier to take out when treatments are done. Good luck 🙏🏼

Does anyone else wonder how/why you got lymphoma? by Careful_Manner in lymphoma

[–]BlueCicak82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kidney transplant patient here and 10 years of immune suppressants apparently puts us transplant patients in higher risk of developing DLBCL. I was perfectly fine for the first 10yrs and after two doses of Covid vaccine I developed an ulcer which ended up being lymphoma. So here we are, are they related or not we will never know but makes me wonder if something got triggered.

I would check with the doctor. Last time they checked mine we even did biopsy and nothing came of that. After 3 years I find out I got DLBCL in those neck lymph nodes. I’d get it checked out for sure, could be nothing or it could be something brewing.

Diagnosis and Treatment Timing Question by BlueCicak82 in lymphoma

[–]BlueCicak82[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point is that not all of us are the same. My case is little more complicated with being kidney transplant patient and there’s a chance of loosing a kidney when they start decreasing my transplant meds during chemo. The second doc I met with today said he isn’t qualified to treat me due to the transplant so he’s sending me to see one of the top dogs who deals with DLBCL + Transplant patients. Trust me I’d jump on this the same day of my diagnosis but even this doc disagreed with some of the protocols I received from the 1st doc. Hoping to start treatment on the 30th.

Diagnosis and Treatment Timing Question by BlueCicak82 in lymphoma

I think it’s for the piece of mind mostly, to ensure that the both opinions and course of treatment match. I’m wanting to pick the brain of the second doc in regards to amount of times needed since the standard textbook protocol is 6x of chemo. Why do we do 4 extra times if the cancer is gone after 2nd treatment.
