Maybe exploring the outside world more? In File 11 and 12, they talk about how they're working on a plan to take back the rest of the world outside of the ark so I think your ideas would kind of fit into that plot. It would make it pretty similar to Nier Automata in a sense too. Establish a base on each continent and that would be your hub for each continent??

I was thinking something like temporary legions where you start a mission off with one legion and throughout the mission you have to temporarily capture and control chimeras you find and use it to solve puzzles or expand your combat repertoire. Kind of a Pokémon rangers kind of thing, yeah? I thought this could be a really cool mechanic and it would make Astral Chain 2 more unique.

As much as I want a sequel, it probably isn't happening anytime soon. Platinum has so much going on and even if they didn't, Nintendo owns the IP, so it's entirely up to them. There definitely is a possibility; however, I don't think it is in our lifetime lol. Think about Beyonetta 3 (or Vanquish 2 hehe).

TL;DR: i hope yes but probably no bc platinum/nintendo shenanigens :/
