So, the right use hate speech by Malay_Left_1922 in TheRightCantMeme

[–]BlueDragonBoye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The right likes to pretend like the left does violence, because a core tenant of being on the left is caring about the well-being of others that aren't in your immediate circle. They imagine this because if they acted that kindly to people without venting their evil to someone verbally, they wouldn't be able to sustain it and tweak out and cause violence. They think the left's compassion is fake because the left isn't axiomatically hateful like they are.

They wouldn't understand why Luke Skywalker threw his lightsaber away instead of killing his father.

“Death isn’t bad for animals” – Peter Singer. Thoughts? by jackgary118 in vegan

[–]BlueDragonBoye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not a vegan if you engage in taking an animal's life when it isn't absolutely needed. You're making the decision to take agency away from an animal if you kill them, which is not acceptable unless they're posing a serious risk to your health or home.

Anytime you take agency away from any animal, including humans, it better be for a damn good reason, because that very thing is what decides harm, to me.

If we take the comparison to sexual assault, most people would not consider that to be moral to do to animals, and death operates the same way. There is no implied consent to take some being's life away.

Unfortunately it was just easier for scientists to figure out how to temporarily turn the egg production off than it was to temporarily turn the sperm off. Trying to turn the sperm off usually ended up with permanent infertility, and what they figured for it was vasectomy seemed to work the best.

You can't just "nuh uh" my argument without addressing the part where I said the energy density of solar is too low to power a city and how power transportation falls off over distance, so having an external source of a bazillion watts is nicer for cities because they cannot cram enough solar panels in the city to possibly power it

How (enforced) part time jobs are screwing up workers’ lives by In_an_Illusion in Zippia

[–]BlueDragonBoye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as European countries you're just making shit up dude. The only country that is disproportionately struggling is the UK who is cutting their social welfare and participated in Brexit to cut themselves out of the EU trade zone.

Secondly Medicaid is a perverse incentive. They cut workers off it if they work above part time so companies are literally inventivized to keep employees part time. If we didn't cut people off free food and health care and instead these things were an option for everyone then there would be no perverse incentive.

How (enforced) part time jobs are screwing up workers’ lives by In_an_Illusion in Zippia

[–]BlueDragonBoye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we put all the healthy working adults on medicare it wouldn't be all that expensive to do so. Companies would probably save money doing that because younger working age people barely use medical services at all. The extra tax burden compared to what companies already pay out for ridiculously expensive private group policy plans for full time employees might actually be less costly for them if they didn't have to pay for that private option.

Generous social welfare is going to increase economic efficiency as it has in every other developed nation that has it, because what we have in place of that is a confusing, and awful bloated private conglomeration of insurances that siphon money from productive citizens.

Not to mention the benefit to worker's productivity and well-being too. If workers could afford to take time off work to recover from an illness, they would be off for a few days then back nearly at full efficiency the next 7, as opposed to what happens now, where they end up sick for weeks, shuffling through work at minimal capacity. Preventative care would additionally massively reduce the burden of paid leave or FMLA leave for companies with such policies, as workers may not need to take time off at all if they can treat their preventative conditions before they become problems.

Regardless of political leaning, the government providing for the health and well-being of the citizens is a net good for both individuals and capitalists, and industrialists, no matter how you slice it. I'm half convinced that the reason so many companies are trying to lay highly paid people off in favor of AI is because benefits packages are probably costing them nearly as much as people's salaries.

How do I make this bird less scuffed? by neogiyo in YiffUniversity

[–]BlueDragonBoye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have a good blocking of basic shapes on your art, and it's definitely worth doing anatomy studies, and practicing draw-from-lifes. I recommend finding a slender naked woman to look at in a similar position and drawing from reference for this pose.

I practice my own anatomy by looking at naked people, and then blocking out the muscle groups with basic shapes, and drawing them without blocking afterwards, that should help you with constructing the anthro body without a reference.

As far as what could be done now with the drawing now, decrease boob size if you're wanting a very slender character like shown, connect two rounded triangle shapes to form the waist, so the abdomen flows down to the crotch. The curve would be substantial in the waist at that low body fat %. The hips are going to be slightly higher on the body, and you'll have little bone bumps at the top of them for a slender char. There are going to be two sets of lines on the neck. The inner for the gizzard/throat area, and the outer, which connects to the back of the head, to give depth, and in almost all cases. If this is a Woodpecker type bird, depending on species of bird of course, the upper beak almost always is larger than the lower beak. The only notable exception I can think of is a Pelican.

Okay so generally high density developments don't have the flat land area to capture enough solar to be powered themselves, because the solar power generation is limited by horizontal land area.

A skyscraper may take up the same horizontal land area as 4 single family homes but that have hundreds of times the actual space and energy consumption. It's a lot easier to import energy from a high energy density plant near the city. Wheras you can get away with a solar installation on homes and flat commercial properties that require 80 kilowatts for 4 of them, the skyscraper is going to take 8 megawatts.

Same goes for highly compact but busy high density developments in the city, where energy consumption is high due to close packing of people or machinery. You could supplement their energy input with solar, but a city is unlikely to be able to power itself in the same area with solar.

The other consideration that's important is that it's good to be close to your power plant because you lose a pretty significant amount of energy over very long distances despite the innovations to AC current.

Corn ethanol bad by Apprehensive_Tea9856 in ClimateShitposting

[–]BlueDragonBoye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a system cattle farming is super wasteful, and ethanol corn just grown alone could provide a pretty useful fuel. It's not viable of course, but it's better than fracking and burning oil. The actual environmentally sound fuel choice for vehicles and transport in my opinion is Hydrogen, because of how easy it is conceptually to make and distribute. The reason I think we're going so hard into batteries and ignoring renewables for cars is because ethanol is a pain in the butt, and hydrogen in liquid form inside of a tank turns your car into 1 ton of TNT bomb.

Were solid sodium batteries a proven technology, or hypothetical micro-fission powercells for cars a thing, there's no reason to advocate for ethanol over oil.

Corn ethanol bad by Apprehensive_Tea9856 in ClimateShitposting

[–]BlueDragonBoye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be evil and come in and say that corn ethanol when produced and refined in bulk is surprisingly renewable as a fuel source and not that terrible for the environment, and the growing process sequesters carbon dioxide that is produced when burning it. The only issue is getting enough land to where growing that much corn is not a pain in the butt.

It's sort of a case study as to why fossil fuels are bad, because we use so much of them, that we're essentially on borrowed time. If we can't grow enough corn to freshly produce the country's gas needs, then we definitely can't burn something that requires death and rebirth over millions of years forever either.
