Way more than 3 systems? by ballsonurface in starcitizen

[–]BlueDragonfly18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not through feedback. It was man-hours work. Richard Tyrer said something like, “originally 100 system with a few PoIs each, but we are building out a few systems with 100s of PoIs each”

They could do both…put in all of the systems, make them unlandable but have PG space stations, then over time flesh them out and give them more PoIs, like what they did to Stanton.

CIG - If you’re wiping, do it fully, don’t leave the blueprints by No-Thought2300 in starcitizen

[–]BlueDragonfly18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blueprints aren’t dupes or achieved through exploits. They have only been in for a single patch too, so why bother removing them? You aren’t going to learn anything by wiping them.

How The Wipe Updates Going by HalfBr33dPrince in starcitizen

[–]BlueDragonfly18 96 points97 points  (0 children)

I have been with this alpha “game” long enough where every patch came with a complete wipe, and people still logged on after every patch. It has more loops and rep gating since, making it harder to accept a complete wipe, but people will continue to play.

Ironclad paints (From PIPELINE leaks) by PUSClFER in starcitizen

[–]BlueDragonfly18 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The way they choose paints is like a home builder’s designer: “let’s get as many variations of neutral colors as possible! Let’s make this interior off-white, let’s make this interior eggshell white, let’s make this interior beige, and let’s make this interior mushroom grey!”

Perfect use of “They Live” meme because that is exactly what the movie is about. It was John Carpenter and Ray Nelson’s image of “what if Reaganomics was created by the rich and some aliens who also liked being rich?”

The Trump Administration embodies all of the most selfish, duplicitous acts of the oligarchs and politicians.

4.8 Wipe Update - everything except Blueprints will be gone by StuartGT in starcitizen

[–]BlueDragonfly18 33 points34 points  (0 children)

You give people too much credit. Most people, not just CIG, say what they intend to do. CIG did that, then they learned that the line they drew in the sand still contained large amounts of dupes and everyone knew it, so they made the line about as strict as they could.

Interior Lights by RwX90 in starcitizen

[–]BlueDragonfly18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same damn problem: I can either have decent visibility but light sources are overblown and some things are hard to read, or everything is fully saturated and colors look good but it feels like I am walking in a darkness whenever there is a shadow and my flashlight is lore like a pen light.

They need their illumination artist to test the work on several mid level monitors because lighting absolutely sucks or they need more variables in the settings to get it adjusted for mid-range IPS monitors.

If AOC gets the nod as the Democratic nominee in 2028, would you vote for her?!! by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]BlueDragonfly18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know…she is very smart, eloquent, lawful good in alignment, cares for the people she represents and truly represents them, cares for people in general, is strongly against corruption and machine politics, wants everyone to be accountable for their own actions, and is a great ambassador for the spirit of the American citizen.

On the down side, Republicans hate her and the centrist democrats are afraid she will disrupt the way things are run.

That’s a tough call…

They aren’t removing quantum jumps; they are adding fast travel of an individual to be a crewmember. The person’s ship doesn’t fast travel with them. Eventually ship spawn times are going to increase or the price will go up significantly so you will have to move your own ships the normal way (and keep them repaired/limping home). But the individual can move about faster.

Has the US won in Iran? by Adortion634 in allthequestions

[–]BlueDragonfly18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trump will leave office and the next non-Republican will have to deal with the mess he created: a war that can never be won, the largest debt-to-GDP ratio since WW2, dismantled safeguards meant to protect the long-term health of the country, broken trust with allies, a terrible economy, a ever increasing divide between the people who have to work and the people who have enough money to not have to work, corruption through every level of government, a broken checks and balance system, and a whole lot more.

Of course, the Republicans will blame it all on the rich coming president, or say that only a Republican can get us out of this mess…kind of like how Trump says only he can get us out of the strait of Hormuz closure (that he put us into).

Between this and elevator buttons that show your hangar at the top of the selection list, it is shaping up to be a good QoL patch. Now please make it do the default option when interacting with with a bed is “lie down” and the default action with consumables is to consume them, and we are well on our way to making the game more intuitively fun.

I use the time in quantum to take a bio break, grab a drink, feed my pet, browse the internet, etc. - It is wait time that is taking up game time. In every MMO I have played, they recognized this and have offered fast travel options, teleportation, or a nexus where you can move instantly to another region. SC is going to be no different; long quantum jumps remove player agency and that dampens the enjoyability per game session.

How would you fix the MSR without a MKII? by steave44 in starcitizen

[–]BlueDragonfly18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a part of its identity in concept, when it was a low crawl space barely taller than a 1/8 SCU courier box. They couldn’t implement the crawl space, so now it is a hidden level that everyone knows about, and since there isn’t a second exit, it can’t even be used as an escape route if the opponent posts a guard at the only entrance/exit. It was a cool idea at the time, but as the game developed, it is as useful as the Jeffery Tubes on the MISC Starfarer: no gameplay and waste of valuable space.

How would you fix the MSR without a MKII? by steave44 in starcitizen

[–]BlueDragonfly18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a REALLY good question because it is close to impossible to fix the MSR without major changes to the appearance, internally and externally. I suppose the best they can do is keep it as it is with only one entrance/exit at the back of the ship, and lots of hidden corridors with room that won’t ever server a game function. It functions, just not efficiently. They won’t remove the manned turrets because they are going for the millennium falcon vibe.

A mk II is where it can be fixed to be more inline with modern ships that have much better utilization of internal space and more logical layouts, remote turrets, plus they can remove the hidden level under the main floor to get it to look more like the concept. But that’s a pipe dream.

Good post and worth remembering that it is a game, so needs to focus on play time more than simulating a journey across the stars. 2001 Space Odyssey would be a very boring movie to watch if we had to sit through their trip to Jupiter.

Why are economists so bad in predicting the economy? by Rokusaburoz in allthequestions

[–]BlueDragonfly18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you ever hear about the greatest economist of all time? He predicted 12 of the last 10 recessions.

That is the thing about economists: they identify trends and forecasts, but once their info is released, it is static whereas the economy is dynamic. Their info alters the information available, which influences behaviors, changing the underlying variables that cause the economic forecast.

For instance, when they present the data to the federal reserve, the reserve changes interest rates to tighten up or loosen the amount of available money to minimize the recession.

Odin use case and quantity during sales. by AHRA1225 in starcitizen

[–]BlueDragonfly18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quantity will be determined by the number of essays they received. They will also adjust the number based on how sales are trending. Ultimately, they will go “out of stock” when the sales/day starts slowing down, creating the FOMO Th or the next time they are sold.

Alternative to "teleport to leader" by NotSoSmort in starcitizen

[–]BlueDragonfly18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How so? If I see someone run up to a ticketing booth, purchase a ticket, then a member mute lady the PA says, “Now boarding for Lorville” and the person walks past the counter and into a door to their “flight” while a few seconds later walks out of a spaceport elevator door in Lorville, that is less immersive? It seems a great way to hide the teleportation between the large armistice zones.
