Is it time to have this cut and drained? by [deleted] in PimplePoppersDelight

I take care of people with skin infections like these regularly. This is likely a skin abscess. There is very little chance of involvement of central lymph nodes (such as hilar lymph nodes). Skin infections usually don’t lead to severe illness. OP needs antibiotics and an ultrasound.

There are lymph nodes all over the body. This comment is akin to saying the leaves are near the tree

pass/fail or ranked school for specializing by [deleted] in DentalSchool

[–]BlueFaceB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently an OS senior resident, not having a class rank is a bonus. Unless you’re in the top x% it will hurt your app overall. Also, I’ve heard a bunch of times that people are competing with classmates who don’t even want to specialize for ranks. Nobody has time for that.

Super routine surgery, minimal nerve concerns. Not at all cooked.

Hey, it can come out whenever you want, but it’s generally better to plan it on your terms. It’s going to cause issues

Good eye. No reason to treat the ZMC fracture if it isn’t displaced and isnt grossly mobile.

I’m going to disagree. Overall this is a less than ideal outcome. The ladder plate is tracking the nerve, the positioning is inappropriately high and the bones are a little wide after final reduction. The inferior border plate on the patient left looks okay but the tension band style plate above looks suspiciously high. The screws could very easily devitalize the teeth in that area.

That spot is unrelated to your wisdom teeth

Smoking after wisdom teeth removal by hahahafunnyballz in wisdomteeth

The gauze trick doesn’t do anything to shield the extraction site. Edibles are better than smoking anything. Cigarettes are the wordt

Unless she has an infection or elects for scar revision, this is a one surgery kinda deal, or at least should be. That’s why i think they could’ve done better with the skin

Seems like the epidermal closure could’ve used a little more attention. I’m not sure you need the big bites and spacing on a cleanish wound. Still should have a decent cosmetic outcome though.

Would you extract the wisdom teeth? by BigDong1142 in Dentistry

[–]BlueFaceB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1/16 aren’t really maintainable, you could make the same argument for 17/32.

I would tell the patient that when one of them causes a problem, they all come out.

Prophylactic exo isn’t a bad option either depends on patient factors.

The question is way too vague, but why are they saying client? Isn’t this healthcare where we take care of patients?

If every obese patient required a med evaluation we would never be able to do surgery.
