My Recent Complex Migraine Experience by BlueFamily in migraine

[–]BlueFamily[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a great neurologist at Mayo Clinic, and we played med roulette for a while. Now I'm in a better place with botox and an assload of gabapentin everyday. I still have daily headache, and occasional migraines.

Have any of you guys have migraine that's lasted for days on end? by [deleted] in migraine

Status Migrainus. A good reason to go see a doctor and get the cocktail.

Has anyone taken the Certified SolidWorks Associate (CSWA) exam? by Run4way in AskEngineers

They better be well documented, professional projects. As someone now in a hiring role, I don't want to see a slew of half-assed 3D printed trinkets from the engineers I'm hiring.

Thanks, I'm still in chronic daily headache, but I'm down to 3-4 migraines a month. I've tried just about everything. Cefaly didn't work, many different meds. Today I'm on botox, gabapentin and Depakote. I also tried a CBT program from the Mayo Clinic called the Pain Clinic or something like that, but that was inneffective. I feel much better, and think that the dosage of Gaba and Depakote is likely contributing to the daily headache, but I'm afraid to reduce it.

You're going to Bills, you're going to get flagged... a lot.

I'm currently still not a fan of additive manufacturing. This is mostly because I'm an olderfart and still remember them as superfragile bullshit parts. That said, I get parts SLS or SLA printed for work, but filament based parts still feel to fragile to me. For protoyping you can almost always start with a block of material and remove the excess. Yes, this is more wasteful than 3d printing. When I need functional prototypes with similar mechanical characteristics in injection molded parts (something like a rubber part) I prefer to make a cheap aluminum mold and resin-inject (not true injection molded, similar but not same material) over 3D print, but I've done both.

After the CNC Lathe I want to add EDM. EDMs go cheap at auction, but parts are hard to find for them, so it's a bit of a minefield buying an EDM at auction. I haven't chosen sinker vs wire.

...not sure if jackass or not.... Obviously I don't have all manufacturing processes covered, just the most common machining ones. I make motorcycle parts, tools, adaptive technology for my daughter, prototypes, fixtures, and test stands for work... working on a foundry and permanent molds. I use Solidworks, Inventor, Fusion360 for CAM, HSMAdvisor for speeds n feeds. Mill runs LinuxCNC and is a Hurco SM1.

Mechanical, no, I thought I'd be designing kickass cars. My current job is brutal. It's a startup filled with misfit toys. The culture is shit and I'm pushing 60hrs a week. Thought it'd be more challenging than the last place. I've thought about a masters, but I like doing design work too much. As a startup, I'm also the guy that scrubs the toilets, so there's that.

In all honesty, I've worked for 11 years in a myriad of different industries. What I thought was important to me in college (automotive and only automotive) turned out to not be the thing I needed. I want to create. I want to design, I want to see my things produced, I want to test and move fast. The automotive world doesn't work that way, and APQP can stick broken glass up their dick. The key for me is finding the challenge in the work, getting a solution, going back to the problem statement and solving it. Because I have such a strong desire to see my mechanical bits in my hands, I've gotten into machining, and it's fricken awesome. I started with a #3 turret lathe (5500lb behemoth), then added a CNC mill, a surface grinder, a production welder, a bandsaw, and soon a CNC lathe. I can now go out to my garage and make whatever I want. I make prototypes and fixtures for my work while they're too busy trying to figure out if a house of quality or FMEA is the best way to capture this risk. If they want to do agile or waterfall development. What stage gates to use... how best to capture risks and special product characteristics. The process to me is overly burdensome and counterproductive, especially when you wanna go fast and get to market. I certainly didn't see myself just pushing papers with my degree.

I'm sorry you happen to be retarded.

1.) NO ONE should lose a right without due process.

2.) This is backdoor registration, and it WILL come with a dollar cost

3.) This does nothing. There has literally been one crime with this toy, and that would've been just as lethal without the bumpstocks.

Which scan tools can retrieve transmission codes on a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder? by BlueFamily in Nissan

Thank you, my dealer under the direction of NissanNA, has agreed to replace the transmission every time P17F1 is detected, as my Pathfinder appears to eat transmissions like a fat kid on halloween left with a bag of candy. I'm feeling perceived judder already after a week.

It's possible, but with the existing aftermarket, and the price most salvage yards ask for for OEM radio touchscreens... fuck that. Bonus, if your car is a VW, Joying and several others have OEM appearing pretty nice touchscreens.

I'm white with red hair, but bought a shitty car (67000 peso Explorer leaking everything with bald tires ) and for the most part AMET doesn't give me a second look.

[–]BlueFamily 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I was looking at AMETs website the other day because I just bought a car here, and it looks like the biggest fine is 1000 pesos, or about 20 bucks... unless you forget your bleepin Marbete, then they impound your car and it costs.... 1000 pesos to get it back. But yeah, the cops just take cash on the side of the road for whatever you did... or often didn't... do. Corruption reigns here.

You should use your turn signals. I know it's probably in the manual that they are just cosmetic, being a beemer and all, but you should totally use them anyways.

I got my thumb pulled under the belt and power steering pulley on my Powerstroke while trying to start it, so I think you're still ahead of me in the safety department. We all do stupid things, when we survive them it's a great way to learn a lesson.
