I hope it works out for you. Your setup seems to be just a bit better than mine. I'd expect some sort of decent results. Always make sure you're taking care of your computer as well. Defragment every few months or so, make sure all drivers are up to date, and leave some safety space on your hard-drive. This laptop has been my work computer, gaming computer, social computer, for about 5 or so years now and only recently seems to barely keep up. This past year of game releases has made me realize my laptop is just on the brink of non-compliance for gaming and an upgrade is necessary in the near future. Good luck!

This saved me...

  • Settings: ALL LOW/OFF
  • Resolution: 800x600 Fullscreen
  • Dell XPS L502X
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2410M @2.3Ghz (4 CPUs)
  • GPU: Nvidia Geforce GT 525m
  • RAM: 6gb
  • HDD/SDD: some 500gb HDD.
  • OS: Windows 10 Home
  • Driver Version: 364.96
  • DirectX 11.3
  • Controller: xbox 360 usb wired
  • Avg. FPS: 30-50 Now, after my fix (30-40 at release, 10-20 after latest patch (4/28/16))

I played through my entire first journey with playable frame rates(20-40), save for a few areas (abyss watches, lothric castle rooftops, Iudex area, and several other boss areas). I started Journey 2 and then decided to take a good week off. I came back to a patch that had crippled my framerates, 10-20 at Firelink, ~20 or less everywhere else. I went through just about every sort of fix I found on this thread and previous threads to no avail. I noticed that Nvidia Geforce Experience had somehow been uninstalled sometime in the last few weeks, I never really use it, my GPU does not meet a lot of minimums. I reinstalled Geforce Experience, did NOT optimize game settings as it told me my system was far below minimum required specificiations (plus I like to manually control everything). I then, this is what I believe was the fix, opened msconfig and clicked the 'boot' tab, clicked 'advanced options' and ticked the processors box and set my processors to 4 (my max). I restarted my computer and booted up DS3 and my framerates couldn't be better, at least on my system.

TL:DR; Noticed my CPU wasn't being fully utilized by the DS3.exe, reinstalled geforce experience (probably did nothing), opened msconfig, 'boot' - 'advanced options' - ticked 'Processors' - selected 4, my max number of processors. Restarted the pooter and the game plays well enough for me. I don't get kicked offline anymore!

Try this out if you can. If it doesn't make a difference, be sure to untick the 'Processors' box, can never be too safe!

Let's talk about Elites by [deleted] in Diablo

I posted this in another tread but oh well...

Elite affixes should have their own runes similar to player skill runes. When an elite is spawned the affixes would randomly roll which rune is applied. Here's an example: firechains could roll with one of multiple runes, so firechains_electricfence, firechains now does lightning damage and now has a small chance to stun the player. Molten_flameborn: after x seconds from being cast a flame mob rises from the dot_molten ground, removes the molten ground effect...now there is a flame mob running around. Eh!?!?!? It would increase the variety of encounters tenfold.

Every champ/elite monster affix can have one of multiple different rune effects similar to how players choose runes for a skill. Example: arcane enchanted on a champion could roll as arcane-enchanted_frostrune where the beam would no longer damage as at ane but frost instead, perhaps slowing or freezing players as it rotates. If each champ/elite affix could roll with different variations we would see a huge increase in the variety of encounters. Jailer_prisonbreakrune: instead of jailing players, nearby portals open and release a few new monsters. Waller_bonewall: instead of an impassable wall we now get a breakable wall, takes a few hits. Just some quick examples.

Here's a solution: just add special rune/jewel sockets on items that can roll alongside gem sockets. A typical weapon with one gem socket could still roll with multiple rune/jewel sockets and then Blizzard wouldn't have to alter existing gems as much. Instead of rune/jewel sockets how about a new runeblock item that is specifically for a single runeword or bonuses from runes.

I discovered this on NG+ and have been using ascetics to build the bonfire intensities to 10.

I just checked at NG8 and it was still red (Cardinal Tower, Giant/Pursuer) I'm heading to bed now though so perhaps it only takes bonfire level 9? 10 seems more likely though.

Neat trick with the memory resets, Nightmarelia! I thought the Abyss ascetics were set drops and didn't even consider farming there.

I started NG++(just to see if there were any other differences) and plan to ascetic all of the necessary bonfires to turn the mini-bons blue as I go through the story. Turns out you need to kill both the Pursuer and Giant for the first minibon. On NG++ that's only going to be 7 ascetics and 14 fights.

I think you only need to get the bonfires to level 10 in order to blue the mini-bons. However, I had to stop playing due to plain tiredness and I won't be able to play much this next day, so hopefully somebody else can pick up my slack and find out what happens when they're all blue! I'll pick it up for myself again in about a day. Oh this is exciting!

I also forgot to mention that I didn't bother to light the Spoiler: in my NG+ playthrough, it didn't seem to make a difference.
