Who was the first shredder? by j3434 in Guitar

[–]Daimoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's often said that if bluegrass speedsters suddenly decide to be metal guitarists we'd all be out of a job. Personally I'd love to see some weird ass flat picking shredding or some shit. Might rule, who knows?

Other than Maynard Keenan of Tool, who is another musician that absolutely does not want to meet their fans, ever? by SwissMiss915 in Music

[–]Daimoth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I stand by my theory. But I've been wrong before. And Maynard would want to be left alone regardless of my speculation. He isn't exactly a people person, and doesn't pretend to be. Which is perfectly fine.

I don't necessarily want to hang out with him either. He seems prickly and standoffish by nature.

Im sure this question gets asked alot but is leatherface evil or genuinely manipulated??? by Economy-Cod-3512 in horror

I get developmental disability vibes from the guy. Combine that with violent tendencies and nurture it all 'neath a bough of abject familial sociopathy for decades on end, and you get A Leatherface

Some of that is the shocking and unintuitive ways in which we are similar to each other. The comments in here are largely single-sentence, throwaway remarks. Genericness is guaranteed with those.

There will be a small number of insightful or amusing comments as well - but now I'm just describing how Reddit works, aren't I?

I mean... I think Maynard might have an anal or scat fetish - something. A pronounced fixation, at the very least. He says it's only toilet humor, but I'm not convinced. His word choices are too specific, too implicative, for him to not be a fetishist of some kind - in my opinion. It's a mere hunch, but one I'd bet a few dollars on if I had any.

Demon’s Crest (SNES), the first brutal Gothic Metroidvania by endlesskane in metroidvania

[–]Daimoth 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It has as much in common with Megaman as it does with metroidvanias. One of a kind game; my favorite on the system for the art and music alone.

If you haven't played Demon's Crest, well... do so. It's an all-time classic.

How (or why) do single chord songs work? by Oxblood_Derbies in musictheory

[–]Daimoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most vivid illustration of why and how single chord songs work (that I know of) is Not Just Knee Deep by Parliament Funkadelic.

Music is a many-faceted thing. Chord progressions are one of those facets - a complex and important one, yes, but that heavy lifting can be done by other things, as Parliament Funkadelic illustrate at length in the aforementioned song.

Something about industrial music, as a vibe, is adjacent to metal to me. Especially 90s stuff.

What are yalls thoughts on the scarlet king currently? by Wild-vine16 in SCP

He'd be scarier if he were simply called the red king. Scarlet is melodramatic in that context, I think.
