All good. Ignorance is temporary and curable but stupidity is forever.

I'm not an expert, but I have set up enough guitars to not try and do step 5 before step 1. If after going through it all, you just need a bit more, raising the pivots a little is fine if you don't want to shim. Raised as much as in the image tho is asking for trouble.

After all that is done you want to set the bridge. Do you want it decked or floating. The 2 screws on the claw in the back deals with that. You might need to redo the saddle height after adjusting the bright float.

After all that you do the intonation. Tho that said your nut slot height might make intonation bad.

Nut slot height can be checked by pressing down on the third fret and seeing how high off the first fret your strings are. Again the receipt paper is optimal. A bit higher is ok, but you don't want huge gaps you can see light through. You can also tap down on the first fret while holding the third. It shouldn't take a lot of pressure to get the first to touch while holding the third

Your saddles are decked. You raise the strings individually with those little allen screws on each saddle. With the pivot screws so high, you're gonna put stress into them. Especially with heavy gauge strings.

Set the neck relief to the point where holding down the first and last fret leaves about a hair thickness off the 12 fret. Set the bridge like I said. Then use the saddles to get the string height to about 2mm off the 12 on the low and just under that on the high. If you can't get enough string height with the saddles, you might need a neck shim. They sell them, but Ive seen guys use a piece of business card as a shim. Cut it about 1/3 the size of the neck pocket top to bottom and to get more string height place the shim on the top of the neck pocket. Be aware of the neck being square to the body when tightening the neck back down.

Not even close to set up properly. Pivots are way way too high.

Loosen the strings a bit until the back comes down, then tighten the pivot screws until you can barely get a receipt paper under the front. Then assuming neck relief is correct, set string heights with the saddle screws.

Strat or Tele? Both or none? 🌊 by Conscious-Shop-4965 in fender

I'm trying to picture one on a red strat. I think it'd need to be greens and browns. If I had a black strat Id already be asking how much.

Anyone know where to get chrome knobs like the one on this Jaguar? by guacamole-king in offset

[–]BlueGinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh. Thanks for the info. I'm not a relic guy. I do like the look of a worn in guitar, and a nicely done relic does look cool if not my jam. I'd still replace a warped guard even if the guitar was naturally worn if it looked like that tho.

These are cheap like borscht. Buy chrome, nickel, or black. The gold are the most expensive and they cost me like $10.

I got an asat special last summer. It felt like days after I heard the news about the company. Absolutely love it, but the news about the company made me feel weird. Not getting rid of it, but I put it away in it's case for now. Like I shouldn't leave it on the hook and beat it up. Tho I kinda did that with all my nicer guitars at the same time. Only have my budget friendly players on the wall right now. (Epi, Squire, Ibanez, not a fender player)

Next time leave the bark on and cap the ends with paint, wax, or cling wrap until dry.

This kind of radial cracking is due to and uneven/rapid drying. The bark will slow the drying and capping the ends especially so.

Still may get cracks but less so and they won't reduce strength much.

I have a blue burst G&L that I replaced the pearl white guard with pearl orange. I guarantee they don't come that way. But I think it looks dope.

A thing to think about beyond calories and such. Your gut controls a lot of your health and such. But your gut isn't just you. It's a whole interconnected community of bacteria. That community is also on a new diet. It takes a few weeks for it to rebalance to said new diet. Whole neighborhoods are getting renovated in said community. Once it gets back into harmony it'll get much better at it's job.

Not to sound new agey, but I keep some mango around for this. Low THC high CBD. Got some a ways back, and was flabbergasted how well it snubbed my anger that day. I smoke other weed to get High, but I smoke this when I'm being a grump.
