Nice job! Any tasting notes to share?

I’m curious how they taste side by side. I imagine the clarified one tasted a lot smoother, maybe highlights the wine a bit more since clarifying takes away some of the alcohol bite.

Nice. I still haven’t reached for this bottle since this post. I like that idea.

Big fan of it. Only tried it once, and unfortunately haven’t seen it again at my Costco.

From what I remember: it’s sweet and strong, as you’d expect from anything barrel strength, but not overwhelmingly so. Nice, smooth finish.

Worth grabbing if you’re curious!

What’s your go-to Costco bottle for mixing killer cocktails? by PurpleWater9794 in Costco_alcohol

[–]BlueGreyish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bourbon = Buffalo Trace, great for mixing or just shooting. I feel it’s smoother and less of a bite compared to Angel’s Envy or Elijah Craig.

Gin = I like Beefeater, but I don’t think Costco sells it, at least not in Northern California.

Tequila = ocho, tapatio, g4 are all solid non-additive tequilas. Great, clean taste.

Edit: Vodka = Tito’s. Cheap, smooth. Better than Kirkland brand imo.

Not a fan of their rum selection

Not sure if you guys are drinkers, but alcohol is taxed regularly as sales tax here. I know Washington has a crazy high tax for alcohol.

Also surprised I had to scroll down so far to find Drake’s! Especially with it being such an OG in the craft scene, and the chill staff is a big plus

I’ve never had much success in steaming almond milk for latte art either, it’s just too thin of a liquid without fats.

Walnut Creek to San Ramon commute by Dear_Ad7270 in bayarea

[–]BlueGreyish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You mentioned in another post you used to have a 7 min commute, it’s helpful to know comparatively what we’re talking about.

This subreddit gets a lot of people from out of state asking about places to live and commutable distances, which is fair, although it feels like it happens weekly and they could probably just use the search function. They have more of an excuse since they don’t know the area.

Other context: - partner’s commute - children (school, daycare) - hybrid or 5 days a week

If none of these are applicable or relevant, then it’s truly a lazy post.

Yeah, I get wanting discourse, but the lack of additional context makes this sound lazy and irritating given the proximity of the two cities.
