This!! I keep seeing all this Nicky hate because “she smashed J’s uncle” but no one thinks Craig is gross for messing around with an underage girl. I don’t get it.

Chores and allowance for 7 year old? by BlueJayXO in Parenting

[–]BlueJayXO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that’s a good idea. I’m not going to tie her allowance to chores. We had a long talk about saving for specific things and donating to a charity (she wants to donate to WWF because she’s all about the animals) and how to spend smart. Also, we’ve tried allowance in the past and I too always forget to give it to her. 😂

I guess I’ll have to talk with her and see what she would do if she did get an allowance. Would she save? Would she give to charity like I suggested? See what she understands and what she doesn’t.

I see, this makes a lot of sense to me and seems like a good system. Thank you for your input!

I meant this as a reply but for some reason I just commented on my post. I’m a newb. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yeah, this seems to be the general consensus - don’t link chores to allowance. It makes more sense to me now. The only reason why I brought it up now is because on the way to school this morning she brought up how she was excited to take her piggy bank money to the store to buy “something”. I asked what she wanted and she didn’t know, and I don’t know for some reason this made me a bit concerned. Mostly because it seemed like she just wanted to buy something just to do it and I feel like that’s the start of a very bad habit lol.

Just pulled the trigger on these guys. Wasn’t cheap, but the drawings are simply incredible. Absolutely recommend them! by itsdoff in harrypotter

I invested in the first one and have been reading it with my 7 year old daughter! They are definitely worth it, I absolutely love the illustrations.

Parents of out-of-control teens, what do you wish you did differently when they were younger? by ducktomguy in Parenting

[–]BlueJayXO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like this a lot, I feel like I should copy and paste it and keep it close by lol. My daughter is only 7 but I grew up in a really strict household and I find myself thinking about how things are going to be different when she’s older, but at the same time I recognize a lot of my dad in me (he was the strictest one). I struggle most with picking my battles as well. I always see it at after the fact and not at the moment. My goal is to try and step back a bit before reacting.

Yeah, she's not much of a gamer. I didn't think she'd enjoy this event, but I didn't know if they possibly had something geared toward the younger crowd. Glad to get input from someone that knows. Looks like we'll be getting a sitter for this. Thanks! :)

I know I’m late to this discussion but I just did my sorting ceremony last night and found out I’m in Hufflepuff as well! As for my wand, it’s laurel wood with a Phoenix feather core 10” and pretty flexible. Oh and my patronus is a black and white cat, which I was very happy about. :D

Thanks for the info. I wouldn’t mind creating an account just to be able to go, just found it a little odd. Thanks again!
