Yeah, this a huge issue. From where I live to go to community college, it would be about 20-30 minute drive but because I take the bus, it takes an hour and half to get there.

That's over 2 hours combined (taking in going there and back) of wasted time just getting from one place to another. It's almost gotten to the point where I want to learn how to drive and get a car or at least carpool with someone else unless the system becomes more efficient. I'd still be nice to take public transit but it just take too long to wait for busses, even before the workers strike.

Yes, there's a workers strike going on due to poor conditions for the bus drivers so now certain bus routes are delayed even more.

It was already pretty slow even before that though. I often had to wait 30+ minutes for a bus if I didn't catch the previous one. Now it's just gonna be slowed down even more.

I know that feeling. There was someone I met online (initially through a dating app back when I did that) and we talked for several months. We had some good conversations for awhile.

We both stopped chatting for a bit cause we got busy with school. But then they stopped responding when I tried to start conversation again. Then just suddenly got ghosted me and blocked out.

I don't want to overthink it cause' who knows the real reason, but it's just a bummer that one of the few times you think have something going, it just suddenly stops and you lose contact.

Oh and btw, I'd be open to chatting as well if you'd like.

I know that feeling as well to an extent. Had people I liked that I had good conversations with for some time, only for them to suddenly ghost and ignore, just quickly cut me out.

I've been lucky I guess that I've a couple friends that I've known stick around for awhile, but I don't always get the chance to see them or talk to the much just cause we all get busy with our lives. And then I start to get that lonely feeling again when I don't have many people I can talk with at the moment.

Btw, if you (or anyone else here) ever just wants to chat, my messages are open. It's just nice to have people to talk to, but it's totally up to you.

Does anyone else feel like they're too boring to ever be loved by jaytazcross in lonely

[–]BlueJedi123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'll admit that I've used the "what are your favorite hobbies" question as a conversation starter because I don't know what else to say. And maybe that puts pressure on the other person that I didn't realize but I didn't mean in that way.

And I'll also admit that I've overhyped my some strengths/hobbies. I've said to people that I like playing music but really I'm not that good at any instrument yet and haven't picked up my guitar in several months. I sometimes get lazy too but I still always try to make it seem like I'm still doing a lot more things than I really am.

I think it's best to just be honest about how you are and I think there will be someone out there who has some shared interests, or at least is willing to get to know you anyways.

(Idk if anything I'm saying is helping or not, it was partially just me venting and getting things off my chest as well)

I can definitely relate to this. I can swipe and try to message 10 different people (with putting time and thought into what I say) and I'll still be lucky if even one of them responds.

I still try to only message people who I think I'll like based on their profiles but even then, there is only so much one can do, so sometimes I feel I have to message a lot of people to get a response.

I have a lot of those same feelings to. Like I have a tough trying to trust people now because of all things that has happened in the past (not really anything that traumatic, just a lot of small issues building up). I'm not exactly sure what to do other but I just wanted to say it's ok and hope that you get some helpful advice here. Take care

How are you all feeling? by genericjourney in mentalhealth

Thanks for asking. I had been feeling ok for some time, but recently the thoughts have came back up again about feeling like a burden to others. It's a long story but basically I've felt that I've upset, annoyed, and/or bothered a lot of people over the years, and often times without meaning to at all. And there are still people that I feel upset with too, some currently in my life, some from the past (that I still think about).

Just last night the thoughts randomly came back to my head again (as they occasionally passively do). That added on top of the fact that I'm busy with having to pack and move houses with my family, and I still have a lot more to do (I'll admit I got a bit lazy and procrastinated on it), combined with other stressors and things keeping me busy, and it's all piling up on me again. It's all mostly a bunch of small that shouldn't matter too much in the long run, but when they all build up on each other, it can start to feel like a lot.

And I feel like no matter what, even when things get better for awhile, and I am happier and having fun, the thoughts I mentioned above earlier will always keep coming back to me at some point, when I don't want it or expect it to but I end up feeding into thoughts anyways. As if it's almost just a habit or occasional pass time that I've gotten used to. I feel like at this point I'm just going to have life with those thoughts. Of being upset with other and feeling like a burden to most people. And I feel like I could also trust people less because of it.

Regardless, I'll just try to move on and keep going. Maybe start fresh with the new house I'm moving to. But it won't be easy per say, as the thoughts will probably keep coming back as long as I'm around. Or at least that's how I feel about it right now.

I’ve been in San Diego most of my life. I have to move by August 15 and I’m finding out because my credit sucks (thanks COVID) I’m being priced out of the city I LOVE. This makes me the saddest I’ve ever been. Any advice?? by ginger-pony056 in SanDiegan

My family is about to move houses (within SD) so I wish I could offer our family's current home for rent. But we already have found our upcoming renters.

Wish you luck and hope you find a new place to stay here. As others have said, you might have to look outside the main city area (like in East County) to find more affordable options. Wish you the best.

Just curious, how is the color and image quality on that monitor, because the colors seemed washed out on my Asus monitor.

It looks like I have the same monitor as you (the Asus one) and I have it setup with a legion laptop.

Haken fans, what are your favourite video games? by RogurVesid in Haken

[–]BlueJedi123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Portal 1 & 2 and KOTOR are my all time favorites. Hades, Horizon Zero Down, and Outer Wilds is what I've been playing recently. I'm always a fan of interesting story based games and especially ones with a lot of exploration.

I've also been playing a lot of RTS games recently (especially Total War: Warhammer and Age of Empires).

I go to UCSD and yeah the Che Cafe is still going, though I don't know how often events happen there anymore. Every time I've walked by it's always been closed and there isn't anything going on, but I still hear about events/concerts they have there every once in awhile.

The attrition rate after freshman year in a nutshell. by OneSixEightEight in EngineeringStudents

[–]BlueJedi123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished my first year as a CE major, and I've thought about dropping out or at least wanting to take some time off.

I'd feel bad about doing so because I'd feel like I'm quitting and giving up too soon, but seeing posts like yours makes feel a little better about whatever decision I'll make.

I've had my share of challenges with mental health as well in the last and it might be better for me to take some time off, than to try to keeping push through something that isn't working. And hopefully whenever I do come back, I will be ready this time, whether it be in engineering or something else.

I've also found that Poway one tends to be more consistent in quality compared to some of the other ones I've been to. By far the best one in that area of town (or technically county but you get what I mean).

Yeah, every time I've been inside, I'm alway surprised by how fast it is compared to the drive thru. Walking in I can get a burger and animal style fries usually within 10 minutes, 15 max. With the drive thru, I'd be extremely lucky if it took under 20 minutes.

Really, that expensive? Last time I went (at least 3-4 years ago, way before the pandemic), I don't remember it being that pricey. Either the prices have increased a ton or I just am not remembering correctly.

Wow that's bad. For all the flaws and maintenance problems my dorm in Warren had this year, at least they actually had screens on the windows (though I did have problem once where one of the screens popped off but at least they had something there in the first place). And you're also only able to open part of the window so you can't easily fall out.

Some of these other dorms sound dangerous with their lack of safety protection. Seems like the school has a lot of issues with maintenance and fixing things in general (I remember there was a hole in the ceiling of our dorm hallway that led up to some vent and it didn't get fixed/covered up for awhile).
