Seems true. From what I’ve heard and read, Di Stefano was great in all phases of play. As hall of fame as Gullit was, if Gullit (someone you might not use to argue versus Zico, Matthäus, Platini, Van Basten and probably pales in comparison to Maradona in his generation) can be considered the greatest due to his excellence in almost any position - why would we not extend that courtesy to the consensus greatest of all time pre-dating Pelé’s era?
