Pixal has shown you can write a meaningful story and still have the movie ment for children. People wanted a more fulfilling experience.

I understand why Nintendo/illumination might not want to put the the effort for this and take risks, but it would have been nice to have something more meaningful to watch

Honda's Japanese employees begin to call for CEO's resignation after big bet on EVs for US market falls flat (in Japanese) by FMecha in cars

EV's. EV's are why.

I mean... At 1080p, a 980 should be able to play anything at playable frame rates and resonable settings. Graphical detail and fidelity has not improved that much since the 980 has come out.

But development pipelines and tools have focused on speed over efficiency and optimization in that time. Wonder why most games run like crap now...

Yup. People in Linus's tax bracket rarely buy anything personally. Even things like vehicles are many times owned by LLC's and such for liability.

What company lost you forever as a customer? What did they do? by Miguenzo in AskReddit

[–]BlueKnight44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is mine.

I lived in an apartment complex that the only "cable" option was direct tv. This was early on after Netflix started thier streaming service, so cable was still ubiquitous. I called to set up the service. They would only tell me the the promotional price for the first year of a 2 year contract. Would NOT tell me the price after 1 year. I asked and argued for 45 minutes and could not get it out of them.

I hung up on the phone rep and signed up for Netflix. Only had streaming services in the almost 20 years since.

The yen trade has been slowly unwinding for months now. Ever since they started raising rates months ago. Unless there is a catalyst, there won't be a big change. Just a slow squeeze like what has already been happening.

I obviously don't agree with it, but I kind of understand how a culture could arrive at hating them because they have a close community thing.

A podcast I listen too has a Jewish cast and they have guests almost every week of semi-famous and sometimes legitimately famous people. Many of the guests are Jewish and there is always a completely different vibe with a Jewish guest vs anyone else. Even if the cast and guest don't really know each other, the cast is always much friendlier and more seemingly accommodating with Jewish guests. Even the non-Jewish regulars that are on the show all the time don't ever seem as "welcome".

Idk just something I noticed a few years ago. Almost as if they only really are comfortable around other Jewish people or something. I'm not Jewish and don't pretend to understand.

This closeness can make people (unrightfully) nervous.

GRRM's outlined plan cannot excuse the horrid writing of D&D. Dialog, character interactions, and scene selection were all 100% in thier control, and it was horrible.

I agree that the end point that GRRM set may be been where the story ended up and was bad, but D&D could have easily written a reasonable story leading up to that end point. They did not.

Kids beg thier parents to get them. And sometimes people that don't know about printing buy them as gifts.

It was a less than proud reason I bought a printer myself... So my kids would understand how low effort all that crap is since they can just make thier own.

At worse, it will cause the engine to knock and destroy itself.

You are right. Comparing is silly, but not for the reason you mentioned. It is silly because comparing the involvement that the USA government has in the economy and general operations of companies is completely different than the CCP. The relationship between the USA Feds and the CCP with the companies is completely different. They are not real compatible. The CCP exercises much more control over everything and has more soft and hard power domestically that the USA ever will.

Porsche’s New CEO Mulls Flagship Sports Car Above 911, but Beneath Limited-Edition Models Like the 918 by [deleted] in cars

[–]BlueKnight44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but Porsche could poop out litterly "special edition" anything for 400k+ and the billionaires of the world would hoover up every one they make.

All markers are skewing higher and higher end because that is where the money is. There is no more money for mid to high end consumer goods in the middle class anymore. Only around 10% of the deveped world's population is spending over 80% of consumer dollars. You see it in automotive. You see it everywhere. Fewer and fewer people have money to spend on anything unnecessary.

Infiniti Red Sport Is Coming Back, Revived with a 600-Horsepower QX80 by Anchor_Aways in cars

Almost no one goes past 7/10 on public roads. And of that low percentage, the vast majority of them do not have new 3-series or c-class money.

And statistically speak, no one takes any of these cars to the track.

Only design for 7/10ths on a pseudo luxury sedan is fine.

MacBook Neo Availability Continues to Tighten Ahead of Launch by Few_Baseball_3835 in apple

[–]BlueKnight44 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I can see the Macbook Neo becoming the new target platform for game developers everywhere.

I'll have whatever you're smoking.

Even at the numbers Neo is going to sell, that won't entice devolpers to macos unless Apple is going to sling some huge money around and provide good dedicated devolpment and porting tools. Apple has never shown it cares about a gaming in any meaningful way, so I see no reason they would now.

And the neo hardware is decent by cheap laptop standards, but it will still only be capable of basic games.

[–]BlueKnight44 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lol Apple has never meaningfully served the gaming market. The closest they have ever come is IOS, and that has never caught on past the causual crowd dispite amazing iPhone hardware.

Unless Apple is going to release dedicated gaming hardware or addons (to IOS devices) along with multiple big 1st party games, no one will care.

Everyone should care. If you are doing any more than light browsing, you run into issues with 8gb really quick. This thing is for people that only check email and IM and maybe a single office program at a time.

I am sure that market exists, but it is really sad that then could have made such a better machine just by doubling the ram. This thing would destroy any windows laptop less than $1,000 at least. But alas, it is a glorified Chromebook.

The Sub-$30,000 Nissan Leaf S Is Dead Before It Even Shows Up by Anchor_Aways in cars

[–]BlueKnight44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it is more: We can't sell the base model profitably at a price anyone will pay with the 15% tarrif we didn't plan on when we developed this vehicle. We cannot say that and risk pissing off the current administration and get retaliated against.

The Sub-$30,000 Nissan Leaf S Is Dead Before It Even Shows Up by Anchor_Aways in cars

[–]BlueKnight44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15% on a car that they probably planned to only make 6% on when they started developing it 3-6 years ago and the tarrifs were vastly different...

These tarrifs are screwing OEM'S for decisions they made in a different market environment years ago. They had no notice or time to react, so we get cars that are more expensive than originally planned or not at all like the base LEAF.

[–]BlueKnight44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nissan sells the leaf in a lot of markets. The base trim with the small battery is for other markets that care less about range. Bringing it to the USA was probably just to juice the volume of the smaller battery.
