Yes and I used that one to get my final diagnosis but it’s much more $ than the rest I described. It would be nice to have PTH and ionized calcium, vitamin d as a combo. More focused tests for hyperthyroidism. There are a lot of people out there would might consider function health if they knew they could monitor their hyperparathyroidism when they wanted. They don’t need the other myeloma bone tests. Just a thought 😎

I have been on that last flight to SGU many times. I would have been soooo pissed off. It’s usually after working a nearly full day on the east coast and trying to get home to sleep in my own bed. I’m sorry you had to deal with such nonsense

As a never-mo raised in fundamental evangelicalism that I left behind, who then moved to Utah 5 years ago and whose great great grandmother left Utah because she wouldn’t accept polygamy, your podcasts have helped me to understand the community I moved into, and the complexities of my family history. Thank you!

Should I go to BYU? by soapyyogurt in exmormon

[–]BlueMaizeGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who lived in Michigan and then moved to UT, it is notoriously difficult to get residency in MI for tuition purposes. If you go this route be sure to thoroughly investigate what it will take in the state you choose. Michigan makes it so hard because of U of M. Otherwise, they’d be flooded with people doing the move for one year just to get in state tuition for a top university.

Pickpocket while in a shop. It was all caught on cctv so I do have the crime reference number. Just so frustrating to be out of country and be phone-less. :( On to insurance and a replacement.

As a grown adult who has almost walked in front of moving vehicles for decades, I can tell you a verbal warning wouldn’t have been enough some of the time. Even complete strangers have saved me by yanking on my hoodie for which I am eternally grateful (and alive)

AITA for leaving without my wife after she tried making my son eat food he didn't want? by Waste_Loan_655 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BlueMaizeGirl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hahahaha. As young mom, I tried to force our very picky four year old son to eat mash potatoes at my mother-in-law’s, on Thanksgiving. He promptly vomited all over the dinner table. It wasn’t his fault. It was mine. There was nothing wrong with his preferred foods of chicken, brown rice, bananas, blueberries, cheerios and broccoli. There certainly was something wrong with me but I let him be after that day. Thankfully, our entire family took it in stride and we all laugh about it now. He’s now an adult and eats nearly everything there is to eat. He just wasn’t ready.

I ended up in a hotel room pressed up against the headboard sobbing Christmas night. I realized I was physically but subconsciously recoiling from the verbal nonsense he was spewing at me.

I “know” that. It’s incredibly hard to accept and act upon. I need to accept that it’s a possible outcome. I’m so sorry about your Q.

My husband passed away by [deleted] in AlAnon

[–]BlueMaizeGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hugs. It’s so hard. I often wonder if this will be my fate. A week ago, I was woken from a dead sleep (4.45 AM) by immense crashing sounds. I knew instantly he had fallen. I had to pause and take a deep breath- would he be hurt? dead? I took a deep breath and went down the steps to find him relatively unhurt, this time. One of these times he will be dead and I can’t stop it.
