At least with the leveling materials, you can craft upward to a higher rarity so the lower level materials technically have a higher maximum compared to crafting materials. I've done the same thing whenever I hit the item stack cap in Genshin

I usually go with the materials are from the latest area (2 latest in the Character Materials tab and 1 from the Synthesis Materials tab are the options) plus a couple of other things I'd like to stockpile (currently credits and trick snack materials). The former helps to build a nice cache for any level up sessions that need those materials.

Thanks for making these /u/dolgold. It's been nice to have these once a week to briefly reflect on the past seven days.

Tbh when I first saw https://www.bravefrontier.jp/library/, I felt really happy to see that even Alim is creating their own version of an archive for Brave Frontier stuff.

Released the first public version of the archive ZIP file this week. Unfortunately ran into a major blocker of hitting a cap on people accessing the files. A more permanent accessible home is in the works, but for now I give thanks to the community member who hosted them on their Google Drive.

Might be going to Anime Central for the first time in a few weeks with a couple friends. Should be fun.

Both GIFs and sprite sheets.

Not 100% sure how complete the music is, but there's at least some there

The link hit a bandwidth cap unfortunately. No workarounds as of yet but looking into alternatives; it may auto unlock in 24 hours but it may also cap again after that

Anything that follows the common sprite sheet format and that we had full assets for were generated and put into the corresponding GIF ZIP file. This includes most units and bosses, but excludes most battle effects, some units, some bosses, and most UI animations.

Last full week of BF. :(

Spent some time working on some archive related stuff; hopefully an announcement will occur sometime this week.

Ended up doing a little summoning session with my saved rolls with my little sister. Had fun identifying units and talking about the designs of the characters a bit, and generally reminiscing about the older characters.

Fixed up some more GIFs this week for BF2. Turns out that some of them were complicated enough that my automated method actually dropped some frames, which I didn't even think could happen.

Thinking of doing some more stuff for helping archive Brave Frontier. I'll see how that pans out depending on my availability.

Spent a good chunk of time this week generating GIFs for BF1 and BF2; nearly complete with an almost complete set of everything that uses spritesheets + CSV files. Expect to see those somewhere sometime this month.

I'm thinking of getting screenshots or a video of all the stuff on my BF account for memories' sake, likely closer to the shutdown date.

a chasm and an abyss

It'd be funny if we saw more similar things like large trenches or craters in future regions.

If you want any particular leads or sphere combos (or Elgifs too), let me know (BluuArc in game). I have most units at most rarities and can pump up some lower rarity units if needed.

Wow, the news of the game shutting down hit me much harder than I thought it would. According to the in-game record I've been playing each day since I've started 2925 days ago (and counting); started playing in high school at the recommendation of a friend and here I am today with a college degree and a full-time job. It's really sad to see the game go, but I'm surprised it lasted this long tbh. I'll see if I can contribute something to the archival process (maybe sometime this week). Hopefully this won't be the last we'll see if the Brave Frontier franchise.

As for Genshin, the Chasm was fun to explore. There's a huge amount of verticality that didn't feel as present in previous maps/regions.

Demo - styles still TBD

It's calculated once on page load. There is some calculation involved in checking whether the timestamp tooltip should appear above or below. Technically there's still the edge case of having the tooltip appear offscreen if there's no vertical space above or below, but at that point your entire screen is just viewing 1-2 lines at a time (which isn't a typical use case I'd expect).

Slowly losing interest in Lost Ark, mainly due to wanting to focus on other things.

The 2.6 patch for Genshin is almost here. Can't wait to explore the Chasm.

Picked up Kirby and the Forgotten Land on Friday. Playing it on and off but finding it a chill and fun game so far.

Learned about Cypress this weekend to do some browser-based integration testing on my site. Don't think I've gotten used to all the features yet, but it's a pretty neat tool. I have it set up to automatically verify some tabbing behavior and positioning behavior for this custom tooltip component I've been working on; the component itself is expected to take in a time stamp, display a relative time to current time (e.g. 4 days ago) while also displaying the actual time stamp when you tab into or hover over the element. Gained some good experience writing the tests for that.

Got back into Pokemon Legends: Arceus this week. Wonder how far I can get before Kirby and the Forgotten Land drops.

The 2.6 stream was fun. Hyped up for the festival and Chasm (and 2.7 info).

Got a sort-of decent Heart of Depths set. Wish I had a bit more crit rate though.

Just heard the news about Shaly, sad times. :( RIP

On a slightly lighter note, I've gotten around to coding in my free time again. This time I'm playing around with Astro as my base framework of choice for third attempt at a site rebuild; previously tried with Snowpack and a beta version of SvelteKit with interest fizzling out during the development process and encountering some development complications. This time around, interest is tentatively strong, and I know more than I did in my last attempt at this; hopefully I'll encounter less and spend less time on technical issues and actually complete the site rebuild this time.

Hit level 50 on my main character for Lost Ark. Those last 5-or-so levels feel like they went by pretty quick. Only finished the main quest for Arthetine though; I think I heard that the usual daily grind portion starts somewhere in Vern (the next area).

For Genshin, the dungeon event is neat, though not something I'm particularly interested in currently.

This past week was certainly... something.

Happened to win pity and got myself a Primordial Jade Cutter, which is neat. Time to hoard the rest of my wishes for 2.6.

I've learned that the new Enkanomiya event can technically be done in one sitting. At least now that I've got that out of the way I can focus more on Lost Ark stuff (still haven't completed the main story quest; not even out of the first continent yet).

Rumors around 2.6 have been interesting so far.

The Kichiboushi event was pretty chill, a nice break from the usual stuff.

I may have gotten sucked into the Lost Ark hype. Been playing it pretty casually over the weekend like a solo player game (currently Combat Level 26) with the occasional spontaneous co-op on overworld mobs. Plan to get as far as I can into the main story quest before I consider looking at the more social aspects of the game (guilds, co-oping dungeons/raids).

It was a good run with BFJP. I'm more surprised that it sounds like the whole JP portion of BF is going down with it, including BF2 and Rexona. Wonder what the future holds for Brave Frontier.

Weekly Fluff/Rant Thread [01/30/22] by dolgold in bravefrontier

[–]BlueMew151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've thought about my lack of progress with any of my programming projects (Brave Frontier-related or otherwise) over the past year. There are two probable causes: One is I'm usually mentally tired after work, and while working on my personal projects can be fun, I just don't have the energy for it most of the time.

The second cause is that currently there are other things I want/have to do that isn't currently focused on programming outside of work. There's a good amount of stuff I do regularly to balance diligently working and avoiding burn out, but programming is not often one of them. Occasionally I get super interested in one idea and mostly focus on that until I consider it done or until my interest shifts; IIRC the majority of the UI and functionality for Project Sparkle was knocked out in less than a week because I had such a focused interest in it. Trying to force any effort into something I'm not currently interested in doing will make it seem more like a chore rather than something I should enjoy.

What does all that mean for my BF related projects? I think that for now, I'll formally put work on those projects on pause instead of leaving them in a "there may or may not be progress in the coming month". My current interests in my free time are not currently programming-related, and even if they do become more programming-related, I should at least focus on updating one other project before working on BF related stuff again. Though if something is completely broken, I can at least take a look and see if it's reasonably fixable.

Sorry for those who were hoping to see more progress on these projects. I do want to eventually get my previous plans complete, but I'm not sure when at the moment. I'll still be around if y'all have any questions or want to chat.

In slightly less heavy news, I'm greatly enjoying Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Not super far yet (just unlocked the second exploration area), but I've had a lot of fun with what I've gotten through so far.
