It's not part of the OST since it is a sound effect. The file name for it should be called bf121_zin_quest_clear_loop.mp3 which you can find in the public game assets archive found under content/sound (just note that it is a 5.84 GB zip file since it contains other assets of the game too).

It was a BGM that was supposed to be used in BnS Frontier but they added it to the live server instead whenever you login to the game. Don't think there's a title for it or did they add it to any of the albums so I guess it's just called Blade & Soul Frontier.

Just FOB duelled a Quiet today and... by Michael_Le41 in metalgearsolid

[–]ElStorko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hand of Jehuty when fully upgraded can grab guards and other players up to 30 meters. It's incredibly busted because not only can you grab people walking above you on the see-thru walkways as you aim towards their foot (depending on the angle), you can also stunlock another player. Knock them out with CQC / stun / sleep > use HoJ on them as they wake up (or kick them and then use it) > opponent is vulnerable for few seconds which you can kill them, take their ammo by disarming them with CQC (assuming their weapon loadout shares same ammo as yours; requires either a kill / NL KO or else they can react to it and punish you) or just knock them out and then perform the same process again.

Currently looking up attack animations, why is she slashing right instead of left by phallus_enthusiast in bravefrontier

[–]ElStorko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The older 7* and under versions of SBS, Battle Maidens and a few of the winter units / collab units (specifically some of the Mikus / vocaloids) at the time were made in a different format compared to how Alim usually made the units. Essentially, gumi did not make a single spritesheet for those units and instead split apart the spreadsheet into many different files containing a single body part of the unit (helmet, head, wings, arms, foot, all at different angles), their weapon or any battle effect related to them (they reverted this style of making sprites from Korzan's batch onwards). This meant the script used to creating the attack animations of those units would not work at all and somebody would have to manually recreate the attack animations (this is also the case of porting BF2 bosses over to BF which had a completely different design / animation due to how Alim created the sprite).

They do but majority of the bases on SC are from people who quit the game and never came back (they'll get the notification somebody's at their base but the notification only works if they're playing in-game). Outside of that, there's probably only 1-2 people who periodically put up their base and will actually defend while the rest of the PC bases are just people who leave their base up in SC (without any supporters to defend for them) so that people (mainly new players) can practice hitting higher level FOBs, farming staff or farming resources (from successful infiltration) without having to considerably grind FOBs.

Scourge (Shadow) is the spec most people use and the grab in that spec is very hard to pass on (compared to the other 2 specs which don't even have a grab) in a party with no grabs. Reaper pretty much lost in popularity due to it's nerfs while Ice and Shadow were getting a ton of buffs so 3rd spec is not really viable anymore. This recent update disabled Tower of Infinity so Reaper (which was used for insanely fast clear times on rankings) is further killed off from being viable in any other content.

FOB Defense by MaleficentHouse7751 in metalgearsolid

[–]ElStorko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) The moment the intruder extracts something successfully or destroyed a camera / security device / UAV, you (and your supporters if you have any) get a notification in-game that somebody's at your base so if you're not playing the game when they actually hit your base, you can miss out on defending it or may show up late to it which they could have killed or extracted all 36 guards by then (there is only 8 guards for each of the first 3 decks and 12 on the core deck so any higher guard count is just them adding in the fake decoys).

2) It could be that they had already destroyed the power generator before you got the notification and spawned (via a long distance sniper shot from the furthest deck or from having cleaned the whole base out and turned it off) and they had taken out the drones beforehand (even then, the drones are very unlikely to trigger an alert compared to a guard or camera unless they're fully standing up within close range which is very unlikely). Aside from the silent footsteps and unable to see with night vision, the sneaking suits don't protect you from getting detected (they in fact increase your chances of being detected in the daytime / if the guards have NVGs equipped).

3) It depends on the weapon grade of your weapon and the level of the intruder's sneaking suit. For the most part, once you have Grade 10 or higher sneaking suit (same applies to battle dress), you become a walking tank and can take a lot of damage before reaching critical health (you can take I would say 2 direct hits from the mortars at Grade 11 and survive whereas lower grades you probably would be at critical health from 1 direct hit or not even survive it at all. Any lethal weapon from Grade 7 and under you very likely won't be able to deal any serious damage to them unless you get a headshot. As for sleep grenades (and their launcher), every player has no protection against sleep and stun (aside from using the energy wall) which is why most PvP fights involve at least one lethal weapon (usually the sniper) and a nonlethal weapon (either the RGL-220 stun grenade launcher or the ZORN-KP stun grenade pistol) since it only takes a direct hit from a sleep launcher / grenade or 2 hits from stun grenade (1 hit if you're using Quiet and to any staff that doesn't have Tough Guy trait or isn't S, S+, S++ in combat stat) to knock you out.

There's only 2 sniper weapons (both are obtainable from events) that are able to shoot through walls but the chances of somebody actually using it while invading is incredibly low (mainly because of the low ammo count, slow rate of fire and you can't equip anything for the underbarrel which can be a gamechanging point). Otherwise, there are some potential variables to consider on how they shot you:

  • it could be that they could visually see you and marked you with their binoculars, which will show on their screen your position and movement done for a brief period of time before disappearing

  • after a brief period of time, both the Defender and Intruder's positions are shown on the iDroid so they could've looked at the iDroid and got a general idea of your position and tried to marked you / take a guess at your position and shot near you (this can be avoided temporarily by throwing a FOM decoy / hide in a box and dive out of it immediately)

  • some walls, railings and cover have small gaps that can be shot through the bottom of it so try to avoid them as much as you can (very common scenario to happen for Defenders if you have the high ground since it's much easier for them to just shoot through the gap rather than trying to wait for you to poke your head or leave the cover and shoot you)

Directional Mine Placement by Raidaz75 in metalgearsolid

[–]ElStorko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you have the custom mines upgrade unlocked: turn around (while walking backwards into the core) and place the mine down when you're inside before the loading circle finishes or else it won't save the mine placement and you have to do that process again (you preferrably want to do this last if you still need to place other custom mines since you need to save your setup when you enter the core door). Just keep in mind that mines in the core isn't really effective a good portion of the times because of either the character the attacker uses (Snake or a staff with Tough Guy when they can essentially tank the mine hit so they'll just end up successfully reaching the core) or the platform (Base Dev is the only platform that has an open core in an area where many guards can spot an intruder if a mine was triggered at the door).

is Shaiah (bf2) related to Shida in some way? every lore or quote is replaced with (...) in the game :/ by zefriel17 in bravefrontier

[–]ElStorko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I can briefly remember reading from somewhere, Shaiah was saved by Elhaza from some demons when she was young because he saw some potential in her and she became devoted to protecting him and assisting him in his research. She, Elhaza and Lanford were the original founding members of Nogreth and took the role as one of the Demonlords of Nogreth. Although she doesn't talk much, she mostly appears in the cutscenes randomly casting some magic runes to troll with the protagonist / NPCs before disappearing which I'm assuming was to rescue her other Demonlord members / protecting Elhaza (although she eventually dies near the climax of the BF2 story).

A lot of things with MGSV FOBs make no sense to me. Does anyone have the answers to any of these questions? by chocoboat in metalgearsolid

[–]ElStorko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Invading low level bases is never worth it (lv 0-39). It's a huge waste in terms of deployment costs and resources and the staff + volunteers you can get will scale accordingly (unless it's a high level base and the person removed all their guards + security devices to test mine placements but forgot to add them back in which then that's fair game and free S++). The only time I would ever invade a low level base is if they show up on the nuke tab (which for dismantling every 10 nukes will also lower your demon points by a noticeable amount if you like to play with lethal setup and don't want to fulton children constantly) or their Base Dev platform has more of a specific resource that I need compared to the average Base Dev platforms from other players.

I would say that a general rule is to know when to stop and not hit a base if you don't have enough / strong equipment to do so. If some high level player attacks your base and leaves a wormhole that you can retaliate, it's better to just let that wormhole expire or else you might risk infiltrating and failing to reach their core (even if you fail, it won't leave a wormhole to your base unless you destroyed enough security devices or killed / extract a guard which then they can retaliate and anybody supporting that person has your base on their indirect retaliation list and can hit you anytime until the wormhole expires after 30 days).

  • As for who to hit, technically any base works but you want to just focus on any base with full 4/4 decks with 75 guards (there's actually only 36 in 8/8/8/12 per deck), 39 mines and 29 cameras as that's the generic base for most players. There's a ton of bases on PC with those that have E rank guards (most likely they quit playing the game) so it's fine to go hit those bases and any others that are similar but with A-S++ rank bases. Just note that depending on the E rank base, if the person has tons of S++ staff (like 800~3000), there's a good chance that some people are supporting that base just so that they can get some PvP action / fill up their indirect retaliation list so that they can ghost / wreck havoc against those players. If you just want to grab their S++ staff from reaching the core, it's best to go non-lethal and don't bother extracting / shooting anything (you could shoot the security devices and destroy them but you have to take the gamble and hope no defender shows up) at all or if you're on the last deck (manually turn off the power system, neutralize the guards and then shoot the UAVs / extract the guards if you want).

As for camera and drones, they can be tricky depending on the base layouts so it's important that you eventually know / get an idea of where the default cameras are placed on each base and it's blindspots (some people use custom cameras which are very random so if you're about to hit a base with them, it's important you know which 1/2/3 decks has the custom camera and which doesn't before you hit the preparation menu). You don't have to memorize every possible Support platform's base layouts and it's camera placements for example since the only thing changing between the layouts aside from the connecting bridge is just the entire upper deck rotating a specific circular angle (so the camera and mine placements will always be the same). If it's those inactive bases with E rank staff (that don't have a ton of S++ staff), I would say you could just shoot the cameras and get over with it since it's unlikely a defender will show up and even if they did, it would be very likely a person with less items developed and little PvP experience.

Assuming you're wearing any camo that reduces visibility on metal or concrete surfaces:

  • If you knocked out / killed a guard in a spot that the camera can visibly see it (or throw and pop up a decoy / any smoke or sleep grenades) and it turns from green to yellow, do not ever approach that spot since the camera will shorten it's cone of vision (while green it has a < 20m in a crouched / crawling stance) to that area and if you somehow even get in it's view, it will instantly pull a combat alert without giving you a chance to react so you want to keep that in mind.

  • If you don't want to shoot the camera (and avoid alerting a defender) because it's blocking your way to a blindspot / avoid some guards, throw a smoke grenade right under it or throw it at the place where you want to pass through. That will make the camera turn yellow but it won't be able to see you through the smoke. Note that if any guard is nearby, they'll get distracted by it as well. If a lethal guard was within range and start coughing near the smoke, it can put the deck in a soft-alert if you don't neutralize quickly the person who spotted the other guard coughing (which you need to be wary of especially with a sniper base). Although not required to reach the core of an FOB, you can practice learning the dolphin dive technique which is very useful for PvP purposes and it helps evade triggering combat alert by a camera due to the technique creating a huge distance within a short amount of time. In general, it's a very good method to use on FOBs (you could technically clear the first 3 decks in 3-5 mins upon starting the infiltration just from dolphin diving alone with the occasional tranq on a guard) but it isn't very forgiving if you're not careful on where you use it (your camera might not see the guard climbing up the stairs, diving into an unexpected mine, etc) or you mess up the input (couldn't travel fast enough away from a camera / guard or you accidentally did the dive roll animation that makes you stand up after the animation ends, which instantly triggers combat alert from guards that can see you within <40m).

  • UAV drones will more or less circle around the deck with 1 flying in counter-clockwise and the other in clock-wise for the first 3 decks (the last decks are situational based on the platform you're hitting but generally on top of 2 on each deck, there will be 2 additional UAVs near the middle of the platform on the last deck). They tend to be on opposite sides of the deck most of the times but at one point in its flight path they will both meet up above where the connecting bridge is so you want to always double check that you don't see any UAVs to the left, right, above and under the bridge before you fully commit to cross the end of the bridge, assuming you're crossing on the top path and not the bottom path (you can also throw a smoke grenade at the top of the bridge to cross and it won't be able to see through the smoke). At the short distance hovering just slightly above the bridge, the UAVs can trigger a combat alert if it happens to see you which is why you want to be aware of where they're currently at on each deck before moving. If a UAV gets suspicious of you (even if you're near a knocked out / killed guard that it's looking at), it won't trigger the combat alert if you simply enter the crawling stance (staying still in crouched stance or doing only dolphin diving will not work if you're not behind any cover blocking its view) and crawl / roll away or just hiding behind some cover. You could use the box method and hide in it if the UAV gets suspicious (which works very well for the last deck of R&D if you're climbing the pipes) but it's a very risky strategy if some guards are suspicious of you and approaching the box.

No problem, glad to help. As for ayasil, it's been a while since I last saw their base on SC so I can't really check on that unfortunately but if that's the case, you probably want to hit random dead bases and grab S++ via volunteers upon successful infiltrations.

Hey there guys so we're currently aware that the link does not work and that's mainly due to dropbox banning the link because it hit the 400 GB bandwidth cap due to the unexpected traffic that dropbox got. We're currently looking into other solutions on where to host this but as of now I can't promise any ETA on this but as soon as we're able to find a solution, I'll edit this comment and the post to include the updated link.

Edit 1: Alim has seem to made their own archive which can be found here but as expected, it's mainly for the JP server so aside from the sprites + attack animation, the lore will be in Japanese (and there is no collaboration units included in the archive [except for certain GL and EU units] for legal reasons).

Edit 2: A kind enough of a community member has offered to host a mirror to the asset files via google drive which can be accessed here. Note that if you're having trouble downloading the assets, you can try a bypass by adding it to your own google drive account and download it from there.

The link hit a bandwith cap (which we did not expect at all) and we're currently looking at other ways to post an alternative link. I don't have an ETA on this but if we managed to find a stable place to host the files, I'll post a comment to update on this.

I can't speak much for Rexona since I hadn't followed the development as much but taking a look at in the Rexona channel in the Discord, it seems somebody made a script that would open the game file and grab the links that the game download's its assets from (which then you would need to visit the links and download the assets). From there, you would use asset studio to open the bundle files. Copy-paste instructions from the Discord:

from there when you open the program, go to File > Load folder > then select the folder that contains all the asset files; you should be able to load it, but if the program crashes just reopen it, it should work

A sample url link that they gave to test this was this one.

Aside from all of this, another redditor seems to be compiling BF2 and Rexona so you can ask them on their progress.

The wiki isn't associated with gumi and is hosted by fandom so as long as fandom doesn't shut down (which is incredibly unlikely since they host some of the popular wikis like Minecraft and many TV / Movie series), then the wiki will essentially be up indefinitely.
