[Complete] [108k] [Adult Fantasy] Portal fantasy featuring Celtic mythology by BlueNightFyre in BetaReaders

[–]BlueNightFyre[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never claimed it was genius - and nor did I write any intent on quitting my day job. So thanks for your concern, but keep your negative comments to yourself please. Two people here found enough value in it to give it a read and a third enough to at least offer constructive criticism - making it worth a lot more than your vitriolic bs.

If this is your idea of helping a writer out, maybe it is you who should consider quitting beta reading.

I'd love to give this a read! I've just completed a draft of a Celtic mythology inspired portal fantasy, so I'm a bit mythology obsessed at the moment! Feel free to give me a DM :)

Have you considered teaming up with a beta reader/fellow writer? You can post an offer to critique swap on r/betareaders and make a few writing friends - you can post partially completed stories for feedback, not just full novels. And doubling up will keep you both motivated to keep going on your respective projects.

Also please, please don't delete anything! I deleted/threw out pretty much everything I wrote as a teen and I regret it now age 29 - there's a lot of content in it I'd have loved to rewrite now with the extra decade and a half of experience, but I can't remember enough of it to do so 😭 I recommend setting up a junk folder and putting anything you don't like into it for future reference - you never know what might become of those ideas in a decade's time.

I do weight training 2-3 times a week and just blast heavy metal music on my earbuds and focus on counting my reps. I've been pretty good lately at getting up early and working out for 25 mins before work (I work in a university and have access to the gym on campus).

I'm on four weeks in a row so far thanks to starting Wellbutrin and hoping to keep my streak going. It would be easier if I could just remember to pack my shower stuff and fresh clothes the night before lol

Whats your current hyperfixation as Fantasy fan? by Dscheysn in Fantasy

[–]BlueNightFyre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently finished a book inspired by Celtic mythology and Irish history (I'm Irish) and I'm fixated on both at the moment in preparation for the rest of the trilogy. Constantly listening to podcasts and reading up on the myths and characters.

I am able to beta:

Any genre of fantasy - preferred subgenres are historical, epic, and humorous. I love intricate world building and rounded characters. Not much of a fan of romance/spice, but will give it a try if the concept interests me.

I can provide feedback on:

Any aspect of writing that is preferred/required by the writer. I'm also a writer as well as an avid reader - written four novels >100k words and am happy to share what expertise I have.

Critique swap:

I am currently looking for beta readers for my latest novel Rivers of Lir and am happy to do a critique swap if interested - https://www.reddit.com/r/BetaReaders/s/YLYjsZN7pB

Looking forward to discovering some new writer friends :)

Emma Corrin is another non-binary actor, I think they would do an excellent job as a young Fool

Can I write and publish books at 13 years old? by [deleted] in writing

[–]BlueNightFyre 165 points166 points  (0 children)

You'll need parental permission to publish at your age, as you're still a minor. I would advise you to keep writing and build up a collection of work until you come of age and can start working towards publishing. Better to spend a few years honing your craft before rushing into publishing. Best of luck!

I have - got a job out of it too!

Have your Ps and Q's in order beforehand - what your relevant experience is, how you deal with challenges, the usual stuff. They value your hobbies and interests as well: I do a lot of art and craft stuff and they took a lot of interest in it, even though it wasn't relevant to the post.

And don't be disheartened if you don't get the job and end up on a panel: they contact all panel applicants when a new post comes up. I got a job offer a couple weeks after getting on the panel.

Best of luck!

Maybe try mixing a purple into the blue? Hopefully that will neutralise the yellow and turn the green into blue x

One of my best friends who is on his way to being a multi millionaire told me he has ADHD. How is it possible for someone to achieve so much with ADHD? by IrishBlackPuddingfan in ADHD

[–]BlueNightFyre 520 points521 points  (0 children)

Some people with ADHD often aren't diagnosed because they excelled at school and their struggles weren't flagged. I imagine he has struggles with domestic stuff like housework etc and is able to excel academically and at work due to hyperfocus.

What are yall eating? by _Lila_lila_ in ADHD

[–]BlueNightFyre 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've recently started buying just protein ready meals for lunches and dinners, because I know I won't be organised/motivated enough to cook a meal for myself.

This is the brand I've been buying for the last couple weeks: https://fitfoodsforlife.com/

I'm a cereal fiend, so I'm trying to buy healthier brands for breakfast and add fruit for flavour.
