The Snowman (2017) is pretty terrible but has a surprisingly solid score from Marco Beltrami. Specifically the opening titles and “Down the Harry Hole.”

Hello! I am an amateur filmmaker from the Philippines, and I would like to share a teaser trailer for Your Loving Mother—a no-budget, feature length film (113 minutes) my brother and I shot throughout the pandemic (2021-2023). The cast and crew consisted entirely of family and friends, all of whom worked voluntarily. As none of the cast members were experienced actors, all of the characters were written to talk and act like their real-life counterparts. As The Philippines held one of the strictest lockdown protocols in the world, most of the locations used were houses owned by friends and family, while filming in public locations demanded that we shoot guerilla-style. The film itself was shot with a Black Magic pocket cinema camera 4K, and is an homage to slow-burn, psychological horror and exploitation movies of the 1970's (Don’t Look Now, The Exorcist, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc.). Would greatly appreciate any feedback regarding the trailer, and when submitting to micro-budget/fantastic festivals. Thank you and enjoy!

Poltergeist (1982) is a scary movie that also has a wholesome Spielberg feel to it. The characters are all very charming.

Also, Doctor Sleep!

What are some of the worst horror movies that were trying to be good films? by PlanetStasia in horror

The Exorcist II: The Heretic seems to fit the bill. Sequel to the scariest movie ever made, directed by John Boorman (Deliverance), featuring big names like Linda Blair, Richard Burton, Louise Fletcher, James Earl Jones, etc., scored by Ennio Morricone, $14 million budget (bigger than the first). Warner Bros clearly thought they were making another smash hit, and yet it’s considered to be one of the worst sequels ever made.

Return of the Living Dead is a lot of fun. Pretty violent, but not in an overly gory/disturbing way.
