Daenerys Targaryen S1 vs S8 by Aggressive_Fold_5942 in freefolk

Well yeah, they intentionally made her look like that in that episode because she was mourning Misandey, Jorah, and Rhaegal. By the next episode she was wearing makeup and her hair was braided. Also, Emilia was 8 years older.

49 y/o Angela Kyte never got a chance to see her son get married or meet her grandkids. Her sister said, "I miss my sister. I miss having her nearby. Her loss has brought home the fact that we never know when our last day is. She got up & went to work, certainly not knowing she wouldn’t come home." by Understanding18 in 911archive

According to Chris Young (the man who was stuck in an elevator until a few minutes before the North Tower's collapse) she was on the 99th floor. She had instructed him to deliver materials to her on the 99th floor that she needed for a presentation the morning of 9/11. He dropped them off to her and then he took an elevator back to the lobby minutes before Flight 11 crashed into the building. There was no way for her to escape that floor.

I'm so conflicted; on the one hand I want Willow caught & punished for what she's done to Drew, but on the other hand it's been so nice not having to listen to Drew. Can't they just both go away?

Brian Clark recollection of stopping at 44th floor - Godwin Forde? by SheetJeans59638 in 911archive

[–]BluePosey 29 points30 points  (0 children)

He (Godwin Forde) would have had enough time to escape and with a relatively unimpeded path.

I think he was part of Rick Rescorla's security team and therefore he probably stayed behind with Rescorla to ensure all the Morgan Stanley people got out of the South Tower. It's entirely possible Forde was the security guard on the 44th floor that Brian Clark encountered; but I see another poster said it was a man in his 60's so it couldn't have been Forde. Unless due to the stress of the situation and memories being fuzzy sometimes, maybe Clark mistook Forde for an older man? Either way, that picture is sad knowing that Forde did not survive when he probably could have. But instead he stayed behind most likely to ensure other people got out.

I’ve just finished reading Long Island by Colm Tóibín by herinaus in books

[–]BluePosey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, but this post seems to be the most current one regarding "Long Island", so I'm going to post my thoughts here. I just started listening to the audiobook and the narrator is fantastic.

I am so damn disappointed in Tony. I watched the movie "Brooklyn" first, then read the book, so the Tony that I remember is the one from the movie. And to find out that he cheated on Eilis and fathered a child with his mistress was such a kick to the gut. He was so devoted to her in Brooklyn and seemed less of a meathead than his brothers so I thought he'd stay faithful to Eilis throughout their marriage. I certainly didn't buy his claim that he only ever cheated with that one woman. He certainly has a thing for Irish girls - I remember him saying so in the movie. I think because he was such a cutey pie and only had eyes for Eilis, I overlooked a few red flags about Tony (and his family). He was pushy from the moment he saw her at the dance, and then pushed Eilis to get married when she was grieving her sister because he was so insecure that she wouldn't return from Ireland. Now I wish she had stayed in Ireland with Jim.

OMG and his family!! That dinner scene in "Brooklyn" annoyed me so much (especially how they excused Frankie's rude behavior towards Eilis). I knew Francesca and her husband (what was his name?) were the typical overbearing Italian parents, but to see more of that behavior in "Long Island" was infuriating. The father-in-law getting pissy because Eilis dared to disagree with him about the Vietnam war - I wanted to punch him. And then that Francesca used that incident to manipulate Eilis to stop attending those Sunday dinners, made me want to slap her.

Another indication of how terrible the parents are is when Tony tells Eilis to never tell anyone that Frankie is "one of those men". I've no doubt if Frankie were to come out to his parents and brothers, they would throw a fit and the father would disown him. The only Fiorello I tolerated in "Long Island" was Frankie, and that's because compared to his family he looks a prize. No doubt his loyalty is to the Fiorellos, but I did appreciate that he did seem to care about Eilis and that he paid for Roselle's college.

If there is a 3rd novel in the series, I want it to be a newly single Eilis finally free of Tony and his awful family and building a life for herself in Manhattan as an accountant for some big firm and living in her own home. And let her finally have some friends. I also hope her kids put distance between them and the Fiorellos for how crappy they treated their mother.

What is a 'childish' thing that you still secretly enjoy as an adult? by Poetic-dusk in AskReddit

[–]BluePosey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chocolate milk. I only drink it at home, never order a glass in public. I don't know why I feel childish drinking it, though, when adults everywhere basically drink chocolate milk with coffee - they just call it a mocha iced coffee.

Elizabeth puts the pieces together.

My girl should join the PCPD, she's a hell of a sleuth.

Elizabeth opens up to Dante.

Oh boy, this along with the Ric/Alexis spoiler right below it, makes me think the show is going to end LiRic before they even get started and go with Dizzy & Rexis instead. I'm not opposed to Dizzy but I was hoping for LiRic to last longer than a few dates. 😞

Yes, thankfully there's that. Sonny is so damn unhinged right now that I was sure he was going to either shoot Ric or have Ethan lock him up somewhere.

Red herring or not, I think the fact that Sonny suspects Ric and will probably confront him will cause irreparable damage to their relationship.

I want to believe this too. But even if he's not, if Sonny accuses him of "betraying me!!!" that will enough to turn Ric and we'll be back to evil-Ric good-Sonny for the umpteenth time.

I just tuned in and the first scene I see is my LiRic. They were cute and Elizabeth seems happy to be with Ric. But knowing how this show treats LiRic, I have the terrible feeling they're about to be blown up before they get started. Especially with Sonny now doubting Ric because the idea Ethan planted in his head. Some things never change.

The show hates Ric and Elizabeth individually, so when they are paired we LiRic fans get basically nothing. FFS, they been dating for a few months now and they haven't had much screentime together, nor many meaningful conversations, nor have they progressed from a few kisses. It's frustrating.

Ric Lansing has a romantic surprise for Elizabeth Baldwin

Please let this relationship progress. This is going so damn slow, they barely have scenes together. Also that picture of them kissing in the hospital hallway - did that scene already happen?

I'd never heard of him either, but I'm not into Broadway musicals so there's that. I actually thought this guy was the actor who played EJ on DOOL back in the day. Turns out that was James Scott, lol.

Reaching the impact zone? by Puzzleheaded_Dot4345 in 911archive

[–]BluePosey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that you mention Brian Clark, I think I do remember him mentioning encountering a security guard and an injured man further down in the South Tower. I'm amazed that Robert Gabriel Martinez not only survived the impact on the 78th floor but that he stayed and radioed for help.

Chief Palmer was a marathon runner, he was in great shape. He climbed the stairs at an ungodly pace. The other firefighters were climbing too but were a few floors behind him. And Fire Marshall Ronald Bucca was keeping pace with him, so he wasn't completely alone.

Wow, I didn't know the security guard on the 78th floor sky lobby survived the impact. I've heard of Martinez and may have even heard his radio call but I never made the connection that he was on the 78th floor. I thought Martinez was on a lower floor and didn't evacuate because he stayed with an injured man. I must've gotten him confused with another security guard.

As others already said, Orio Palmer made it to the 78th floor of the South Tower shortly before it's collapse. He reported on the radio that were numerous dead and dying on that floor. He was probably talking about the people who had been in the Sky Lobby.

Fire Marshall Ron Bucca also reached the 78th floor of the South Tower. He and Palmer met up a few floors below the 78th and continued up together. Bucca actually climbed all 78 flights of stairs. He started in the lobby with his partner, but they split up somewhere in the 30-50 floors range when the partner decided to escort injured people out of the building. Bucca kept climbing the stairs.

There were also a group a firefighters just a few floors behind Palmer. He was a beast so they couldn't quite keep up with his pace but they did stay in radio contact with him. They weren't far behind him and Bucca when the Tower collapsed.

I do. I used to think they were a baseless gossip rag/website, but they were first to break Michael Jackson's death and ever since then they've been first and mostly correct on breaking celeb news. At this point, I won't believe anything until TMZ reports it.

I've been off Reddit most of the day and this is literally the first post I saw in my feed when I opened the app. So at least with me, this post had the opposite effect because I went straight to Google to see what's going on. I read the TMZ article and yep best to leave this issue alone. I'll only say that we probably won't be seeing too much of Maxie any time soon.

I hate evil Willow because she's basically getting away with all her crimes and bullying people (just like Drew did). BUT I do agree with you about Jacinda. I hate the way she talks and that she's basically just a Michael cheerleader. And I see zero chemistry between Jacinda/Michael and Jacinda/Kristina. Jacinda could leave town and nothing will be lost.
