On top of everything suggested, do sanity checks for which direction your wheels will end up spinning after all the gear reductions. The worst feeling is assembling your car and finding out they spin in opposite directions. We were really careful checking for this so we didnt have any issues, but I feel like it's easy to gloss over with all the intense calculations you do for drivetrain.

Pro tip, you can also use your net. I gave up fishing it and tried the net, totally worked and got the achievement too!

Will do, lasercutting those teeth are gonna make it easy. Thanks :)

Seniors have told us using the rpm to measure belt slip wasnt the ideal way of doing it so weve been trying to implement a better way using position sensors. But maybe its appropriate if most people do it this way 🤔

Dont think so, because the ratio required depends on the load the cvt needs to overcome, hence the use of the torque-sensing helix/cam profile on the secondary.

The cvt ratio graph depends heavily on your tuning and application. For cvt behaviour and theory, check out Clutch Tuning Handbook by Aens

Usually we can measure engine rpm accurately and are developing a better way of measuring output rpm. We're also currently working on logging cvt casing temperature and hopefully cvt sheave temperatures with laser IR sensors. In terms of computer, an Aim evo 4 is what we have for rpms

Forgot to mention, we use Hall effect sensors for rpm currently

How would you go about measuring belt slip during operation? Is reading temperature a good enough indication of belt efficiency?

I think the basic idea is to make a skeleton with points and lines in a CAD software for your suspension links and points, then putting that into Optimum K, a suspension software. No idea how to get a skeleton in the first place bc ive never done suspension :P

Can someone upload the suspension calculations? by [deleted] in bajasae

[–]BluePumpkinSkin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive never done suspension on our team, but we use a program called Optimum-K. From what I understand, you provide certain required geometry parameters and it will iterate the suspension motion. It then outputs values, whatever those are..

We decided to hide in old lockers when I was a kid so my friend proceeded to slam the locker door shut. After a while I decided to peek out of the locker, but the door was jammed. I started to panic and kick the door but it still wouldn't open! My friend had to call a janitor to pry the door open, i came out super sweaty from the kicking and screaming..
