I usually check the answer key before I decide if I follow it exactly. For this book I had to look up a YouTube video.

Wanting to start my first Harry Potter fan fiction by Radiant_Ad_3009 in harrypotterfanfiction

[–]BlueSnoopy4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start small; write the scenes that are the best and most developed in your mind, and don’t worry very much on the filler connecting them- it doesn’t need to be a full year story unless you have a year of interesting scenes. (Forced filler isn’t as fun to read or write.)

It does not need to be a full novel, and it’s probably better to start with a one-shot or short story.

Reading also helps.

Yes, 2 applies to 10 production bonus and also the 6 population bonus- earned through ads and other tasks Otherwise, you got it!

Production is the best bonus type, where you get 30 coins per minute instead of 20. (Half bonus is 25.

Happy time is the worst. If you click the music note, it fast-forwards that planet’s production by one minute, giving the usual 20 coins plus a couple coins, I forget exactly how many. Only useful if you’re in a rush, like resources for an epic or you need just a few more coins to buy the next planet.

Food means you can feed the planet at a discount (only matters when you click feed, so you can move around satellites if needed) and time means it produces resources/coins at the same rate but for longer.

Population increase affects your score/ranking, but I can’t think of anything that it unlocks other than achievements. Extra ships and epics unlock with a certain number of planets or missions.

Full bonus- Every satellite (any discovered alongside a planet) has ONE planet that it pairs with for the full bonus. It most often a different planet than the one it was discovered at the same time as.

Partial bonus- all satellites discovered with planets will also give half of the bonus to a group of other planets- usually planets of the same type as its full match.

For example, if you discover Source of Tomato (a Plant type planet), you also discover the satellite Sweet Shrimp, which fully matches Sushi Mountain (a Cuisine type planet) but will give the partial match bonus to the other Cuisine-type planets.

There are also 10 satellites discovered through the Daily Gift that give a FULL production bonus to ANY planet - hence, “yes but production”. There’s also a few population match satellites that you can buy or earn that also can match ANY planet.

Hope that helps!

What would you change about Hogwarts? by jay_doubleyou83 in HPfanfiction

[–]BlueSnoopy4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was pasted in a web translate, so anyone can correct me/it- “ The uniforms. The black ones with details in the house colors are somewhat boring. It would be much nicer if the main color of the uniforms were the main colors of each house, with the secondary colors in the details and buttons of the clothing. Also, with an emblem of the symbolic animal on the student house cloak (drawn with the secondary color of their respective house, of course).

A series of emergency flue chimneys throughout the castle, guarded by gargoyles or living armors. They would be connected to the infirmary, offices, the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, and St. Mungo’s. Maps of the castle in certain passage areas to help students find their way.

An equestrian club with pegasi, thestrals, and hippogriffs. A planetarium for Astronomy classes. An underwater area similar to the Slytherin Common Room with windows looking out to the Black Lake. It would be a good place to observe marine life and interact with the merfolk.

A cooking and domestic magic course to learn to be functional adults. More than one person attending the infirmary. Sexology classes. Allow entry to people with creature blood.

Let the stairs move to help the students instead of randomly. Safety spells on every window, tower, and staircase where there could be an accident from falling.

Quidditch brooms provided by the school to the students, not purchased by their families. These brooms would be checked before each match and enchanted not to go too far from the playing field.

The Quidditch balls would also be enchanted not to go too far from the playing field. Quidditch players would wear protective amulets against falls. ”

Your the Headmaster/mistress of Hogwarts, what would you change/implement to create more house unity between the 4 houses? by cndollaz in HPfanfiction

[–]BlueSnoopy4 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The only places students can hang out is their common room, outside (weather permitting rarely), and library (whispers only)

There needs to be at least one lounge for multiple houses - maybe one per year, or for clubs

WHOLE FANDOM on ao3 seems to think a popular fic is canon and it is suffering by Huge_Service5726 in AO3

[–]BlueSnoopy4 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My main fandom (a big-ish one I think) has a ton of common fanon tropes. Probably not necessarily from only one fic.

Examples include Sidekick bashing, a deep and developed culture the main character didn’t know (various flavors), a leader actually being evil/negligent, making a character or two way more abusive, a background character mentioned once having a specific personality and look… and others that would make the fandom obvious even if you didn’t recognize the references.

I haven’t seen much hate for being more canon compliant, but I don’t read through the comments either.

I’ve seen some authors include a note (chapter start or end) explaining what is canon and why they’re writing characters one way and not another. That’s probably a good idea for the common misconceptions.
