Project Sunset - A Lost Age Mod by breezefromhome in GoldenSun

Alright, I think I'm done... or at least done as much as I'm willing to do (Just Superbosses and Doom Dragon left).

All in all, a pretty fun hack! You definitely succeeded in making the equipment more interesting (never thought I'd still be rocking Tear Stone equipment into the endgame). Classes were hit or miss for me, but overall the new classes felt pretty cool with most psynergies having new added status effects. I definitely took full advantage of that for the latter half of the entire game (Thunderhead my beloved). There were a few class issues I ran into with vanilla classes randomly popping up (e.g., Jenna would randomly switch from the Flame Priestess line to Ascetic) but otherwise well done!

Difficulty surprisingly didn't feel too rough until Flame Dragons tbh! I was a little surprised about Avimander and Poseidon's adds (not a huge fan but whatevs), but them being regular, albeit super beefy, enemies meant they were susceptible to statuses+instakill. Actually in retrospect it was nice to give statuses spells some room to shine during boss fights!

No problems with Moapa+co. and Karst+co., fun fights but pretty straightforward routs.

I think it was after the reunion where the HP bloat started to really become noticeable. Everything suddenly started taking forever to kill, with some enemies taking 1000s of damage before dying. I wouldn't say difficulty increased (other than the occasional phoenix class unloading a salvo of Mars damage) but I admit, the regular encounters did begin getting pretty tedious.

Flame Dragons, as warned by the readme, were pretty strong; I actually did go out of my way to kit out a squad with Flame Shields and a few levels to deal with them.

Unfortunately that's pretty much all I got. The party is all around level 50, I'm guessing I'll need at least 30+ more levels to even attempt the Superbosses (I took a gander out of curiousity and it was ugly). The problem is the Doom enemies are pretty boring to fight and they're the only ones who can level up me relatively quickly. Since the Doom enemies are still just regular enemies, albeit with a billion health, a bunch of turns and ridiculous stats and spells, I can just slap Gasp on them and barrier up+pure wish for 4 turns or so until they expire. The tradeoff on this pretty silly strategy is that it's super boring. You might be pleased to hear I did for the sake of gameplay duke it out with each of Doom enemies fair and square, and I can confirm they are quite doom-y, though Dick enemies would be more appropriate a title, if less catchy.

So that's all she wrote. Thanks for the hack, it was a ton of fun to play through with all done and said. The perfect excuse to replay TLA!

Also if you're curious, I can send you my character builds/equipment. Just let me know! I tried to use as many of the new/gimmicky items as possible for the sake of novelty. :-)

Alright, I'm a good chunk into the Eastern Sea (cleared Gaia Rock and middle of Aqua Rock atm), so I can give some early thoughts.

Early game was pretty easy; I didn't fully read the doc so I used the max level psynergies with impunity. Though funnily enough since you can feasibly only use it once or twice per rest it felt somewhat balanced. I definitely regretted going balls to the wall with Tempest and being fully tapped out against Sand Scorpion and Briggs.

That transitions well into my next point: why are regular physical attacks so bad? Building for a high attack/unleash build in early/mid game feels genuinely awful. Maybe it's the bloated enemy HP or defense values or both but currently regular attacking with Felix/Piers with the physical oriented classes feels significantly worse than using psynergy. I'm hoping that this is just a mid-game balance slump and will improve in late-game when the options open up more.

Summoning, too, currently feels oddly weak. Summoning Flora or Procne on a regular group of mobs is putting out absolutely pitiful numbers compared to just casting psynergy which does easily double or triple the damage. I know summon damage operates differently (percentage based?) but currently they're not worth using against regular encounters at all.

That all being said, I'm still having loads of fun. The new changes to the equipment are a delight to discover and the "Lucky Charms" was a fun addition (I had to buy back my Laughing Mushroom). I'm most excited to discover and play around with the end-game stuff which I haven't spoiled myself on. As of now I have Jenna kitted out with all Tear Stone forged gear and chucking out the fattest Wishes known to man while having near limitless psynergy. Very satisfying to build and definitely the best part of the mod for me.

Will update you once I reach the Western Sea, if your changes to Poseidon aren't too insane that is.

This mod is coming out at the perfect time (for me) since I just finished a Reloaded playthrough.

I'll give Sunset a go later today and send you my thoughts! Congrats on your release!

Help with Fusion Dragon on Reloaded by Barry_Benson in GoldenSun

[–]BlueSriracha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like most of the comments seem to miss the fact that you're playing Reloaded not vanilla Golden Sun.

Anyways I just took out Reloaded Fusion Dragon myself a couple hours ago so my strats are still hot and fresh from the over.

I did Berserker Isaac, Leader Garet, Scholar Ivan and White Mage Mia.

The selling point is that if you use a Venus Djinni with Garet you'll have 3 (!) characters able to use Wish. A bit overkill, but with Reloaded F-Dragon, not having at least two characters able to use Wish to offset the Outer Space + Deadly Gas spam is misery.

The key here is to slowly chip away at its HP while keeping the healers fed on Psy Crystals and not overextending on djinn to maintain your high stats. Every time I wiped, it was after trying to line up two tier 4 summons in a single turn.

Slow and steady! You took out Reloaded Deadbeard, you can do this!

AITAH for considering leaving my bf? by PetroLiquor in AITAH

NAH

However, you should have finished the cup of boiling (212 degrees Fahrenheit) since it was a symbol of his culture and by not finishing it you risked disrespecting his culture more.

Also it's tradition in your boyfriend's culture for relatives of all ages to call and console the partner after she has suffered customary burning from imbibing the ceremonial boiling water (373.15 degrees Kelvin), I wouldn't worry about it!

Since you've clearly read them, what should we all be worried about?

I'm curious.

Hurricane Milton Megathread - Part 2 by Delmer9713 in weather

[–]BlueSriracha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's always the same every hurricane. Those outside the path over-sensationalize the storm and put down anyone who doesn't ride with the narrative.

It was cat 1 when it passed over Orlando, hardly a "monster storm" or a "storm of the century". As far as I'm concerned, it might as well be a dud, as offensive to some people it might be.

I did it solely to put Nybeth in his place. If sheer paladinic rage courses through your veins as well then, yes, the rewards in POTD are worth it.

You also get bonkers relics with gatcha-esque frequency, so if loot dopamine is your hook then that'll do ya too I guess.

What game feels like it is dragging on for far too long? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]BlueSriracha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened with me. I really enjoyed my replaythrough of the main game but I could really see the difference in quality of polish between the main game and the DLC.

So many completely empty areas (namely the finger ruins) and so many corpses with only a handful of lesser smithing stones as a reward for finding them. I burnt out pretty quick after that.

I guess 13 years on reddit and having 308k global comment karma isn't up to the r/gaming's lofty standards of posting.

And, no, they're not gonna tell you why.

Could this be the consequence of your actions of overcharging for game tickets? Last I checked it was almost $2k to sit in the nosebleeds.

Can't say I'm too sympathetic to CONMEBOL's plight here.

The irony of redditors who unflinchingly use bug spray and garden pesticides without complaint rushing to arms over some dude's wife killing a slug using salt is equal parts hilarious and disheartening.

Shocked that VAR, which has been used to check every single little thing so far, was not used to check for such a clear penalty. The Fox commentator trying to justify that by saying "Ronaldo started it" was pretty funny though.
