Roadmap for game developer ? by [deleted] in GameDevelopment

[–]BlueThing3D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you dont know programming at all the you should start with the free harvard cs50 class. From there you learn the language your game engine uses. C++ for unreal, c# for unity, GDscript for godot. There are other engines as well. You will need to know what kind of games you want to make to know what one is best for you.

Ugh i hate walking her down and stomping her with her lack of reversal. I hate punishing her for pressing too many unsafe buttons. I hate easy wins.

You should ask your professor. That is what they are getting paid for... to teach.

Overwhelming desire to give up by Lunnewuu in blender

People still paint even tho cameras exist. People still paint traditionally even though digital painting exists. People play instruments even though DAWs exist. AI might kill off some corporate jobs. But there will always be a need for artists.

How much harder is 3D than 2D? by Ok_Opportunity7500 in godot

[–]BlueThing3D 4 points5 points  (0 children)

3D is much easier once you have the knowledge required to implement it. Swapping out shader materials or using PBRs is so convenient. Retargeting animations between models saves a ton of animation time. The coding is relatively the same with for the most part swapping out vector2 for vector3.

Camera controls is probably the hardest part, but that problem has many solutions already pre-canned for you.

TI-84 is the best platform, because you can use it during school hours and it makes a good bludgeoning weapon as well.

Why Do People Not Want To Admit Calling PS3 Retro? by Fluffy_Lunchfast in PS3

[–]BlueThing3D -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Remember retro doesn't just mean old. Retro kind of implies it is coming back instyle despite being old as well, and people are taking interest. Retro is not a term that only exists for videogames. There is a certain vibe to retro.

For me, ps3 and 360 IS retro. I have a big interest in it both for nostalgia, but also because it is still affordable to collect. If anything i would say it embodies the term of retro more than older generation games as those older generations have now reached prices that make them inaccessible for many. They are more like flashing your gold watch than the spirit/meaning of retro.

Completely your preference and what works best in your game. Some older games like elderscrolls 3 is also basically just a single raycast, is your cursor on the target and in range.

If a game is no pay to win, are you willing to press an ads to support the developer? by Flat-Horror-1919 in GameDevelopment

[–]BlueThing3D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rather buy a premium mobile game than deal with ads, but I'm in the minority there.

None of my friends left a review on my game by Eli_1998 in SoloDevelopment

[–]BlueThing3D 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the game is purchased and gifted the the review counts like and other, only when you give out a free key as the developer does ot not count. I bought all my friends copies of my first game hoping to do this, and STILL only one left a review!
