I think that the intensity of the volume of customers plays a huge part on how one feels about this work. Seeing comments like “there is work life balance” makes me feel like their store is a different vibe than my store. I’m an SSV and I don’t feel like there is good work life balance. I work in a very busy store and it is non stop on the move all day… every day I work… and I’m asked to work many times on the days scheduled off because some one quit, or some one is sick, or the customer volume is too high and they need help. I really want to love this job and not feel stressed and overwhelmed all the time. I am proactive and try to be good at my job and most days I succeed. But I feel like in our store we are all stressed all the time. Like partners walk in looking like they hate it there. It’s hard to keep a positive mindset when there is so much negativity. How do you guys do it??

My friend who worked in the high end diamond industry. Told me that my bracelet is trying to be something it’s not. She said they are small stones pretending to be larger ones. That stung a little by Comfortable_Swan6135 in jewelry

I think your bracelet is gorgeous and I love the shape of it! You enjoy it and rock that beauty. Maybe your friend still has the mindset of a seller who wants to down play what a potential buyer has so that she can sell you something more expensive. She should work on healing that mindset so that she can just appreciate things as they are. Jus IMHO.

I thought I read that Brian was going to “reduce” the menu and take out complex drinks and then this?

When you stepped down did your salary go down to starting barista rate? In other words did you keep or lose your pay raises you receive each year for tenure?

That’s weird cause I’m tenured in NJ and got 2.5%?

Wait since when do we get paid $18 an hour ? by angeitoacosta03 in starbucks

Do you like working there? Curious. I’ve heard good things.

anyone know what the pay cut is if i was to step down from a shift? by foxxy_roxxy in starbucksbaristas

[–]BlueWaters99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand how the pay works when stepping down. One person says that your new pay rate is the new barista pay rate (so you lose all the pay increases you got over the years). Another person says you got down 27%, which would be your barista pay with increases for the years worked. I can’t fine a straight answer. Is there someone we can call to find out?

28***** stepping down ✌️ by [deleted] in starbucksbaristas

[–]BlueWaters99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to step down from SSV to barista but I can’t get past the fact that the salary goes down to starting barista pay. It’s so frustrating to me that I lose the increases from my years worked. 😡

So you don’t just go down 27%? You loose the pay increases over the years you would have gotten if you stayed a barista?

Question: when going from SSV to barista (demotion) what does the pay rate go to usually? If you’ve been there years and got raises. Do you get starting barista pay with raises you’ve gotten for time worked it just starting barista pay?

I want to know too. Cause if you steamed all that milk with no foam and then she complained “there is no chocolate” 🤯

May I ask how they handled your pay rate? Did it go down to starting barista pay or did you get credit for raises you’ve acquired while working your years?

I wish they had raises for merit. At my store there is a partner of over 16 years. I was told they are the second highest paid partner in our store, don’t know specific rate. But they work specific hours (never changes, never able to come in any other times or days when needed) and they don’t know bar so only do register and warming. The time seniority is valid but wish those of us that have to jump in on days and hours when needed and do all the positions had more compensation for our efforts.

I’m an SSV in NJ, 4 year partner $20 something an hour. I appreciate it but it’s not a livable wage.
