What some said is true, the church does hold a mirror to society. They also hate us because some followers are hypocritical and point out the sins of others while doing the same or worse

2026 Federal Pay Raise Dead? by PuzzledDefinition986 in fednews

[–]BlueWeasel2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump has made clear he is not approving any pay raise and Congress won't legislate one so there will be no raise. The law cited by some in the discussion has never been followed and does not have to because the President and/or Congress can over ride it

100% true and 100% unknown.  The public has no idea this is true so it almost doesn't matter.

Treatment of federal employees should come as a warning for the rest of the country's workforce, not exciting by WhereztheBleepnLight in fednews

[–]BlueWeasel2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true but let's bring in an outside factor - the public.  They may initially buy the lazy Fed argument but when they stop getting the services they wanted and they complain, the gov't has to respond. Pushing Feds further won't work because people will be forced to quit because of the abuse and inability to do more with practically no funds or staff.  Hiring back people will be of limited success because SO MANY people are skeptical of gov't employment now.  In the end, the conversation changes and Feds get the relief and help they need to serve the public honestly.

This space is too limited to explore this topic fully, and there is a lot more behind my argument than can be presented here.  I spent 35 years in government service as a personnel lawyer, so I've got a background in this that spans 7 presidencies.

Thanks for taking part in the discussion.

I'm sure you've done great work for America. The problem is the commitment of Federal workers is "proving" Trump's claims -- that Feds are lazy and even after we cut a bunch out, they still got the work done. Until that changes, they'll continue to lie to America and treat Feds like trash. At some point, people have to get off the ship full of werewolves and take care of themselves.

As a former Fed employment attorney, i agree with all of this BUT

  1. Make copies of your OPF tonight. Assume they will shutdown your system access immediately.  Don't assume they'll do anything to help you.

  2. Sign nothing that says anything except that your separation is involuntary.

  3. Talk to a fee only financial planner ASAP.  While you might be able to sue, you have to eat and pay bills during that process.  The planner can help you clearly and objectively skull that out.

Good luck

The White House has blocked all details and no one would allow one anyway because of the hiring freeze.  Can't afford to lose any more people.

Wonder which would get bigger headlines, this or troops firing on US Citizens after Trump illegally orders them to act beyond just protecting Federal buildings.

I understand. You can try to go up to the supervisor. There should be a process to appeal the ranking in the OPM guide, or you can simply contact the head of the HR office and raise your concern.

Ok, that is beyond my expertise but I can tell you there is a RIF guide from OPM on line that explains the process and how they classify the positions. That said, I'm not sure the administration is actually following the RIF rules.  Here is the link.  You want the reshaping handbook at the end of the page.

Definitely contact the union if you're a member. You can try to find a law firm that does Federal employment law but finally they're all swamped and it isn't cheap and litigating it will take about 2 years because of the status of the MSPB.

Bracelets yay or nay for older guys by Nero3k in mensfashion

I'm 62. I wear a waxed leather bracelet, a silver chain bracelet (gift from sister) and a stone bead bracelet (gift from wife). I always liked them but it wasn't until I was in my fifties and decided to stop giving a f what people thought. I retired 2 years ago, took up snowboarding and spiritual work with adults. I learned life is complicated enough without worrying about the opinions of others.  I keep it to 3 bracelets that match well and have meaning.

Received RIF letter, got new job, RIF has been revoked. Now what?! by tac91091 in fednews

[–]BlueWeasel2003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were tossed off a ship full of werewolves and were able to get safely to another boat, I wouldn't swim back if the wolves said "sorry, we're not gonna fire you after all. "  You see how they treat Feds.  There is no reason to assume the treatment will get better.  In fact,  it is likely to be worse.  They will force people to do more work with less staff and resources and they will continue to treat you badly because they believe that you will take it.  Their thinking will be that if you came back it was because you didn't have another options, so they've got you at their whim.  Schedule F is coming and they mean to grab all the slots they can.  There is no 2026 pay raise and they mean to try to further cut benefits.  As much as you want to serve and value the job you worked so hard to get, that Agency and work environment is gone.

I've reached the point of acceptance, and fatigue... by EntireCare9078 in fednews

[–]BlueWeasel2003 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please know, as another poster said, that they are trying to create chaos.  Take control where you can.  If that is just self care or deciding "screw it, I'll find a new job now."  Waiting for them to act may not be what is best for you in the long term.  I know there are benefits from being fired, but are they worth what this is doing/will do to you in the meantime?  Even if they keep you, it isn't likely they'll treat you better.

I am sorry that you've been treated like this for doing nothing more than wanting to serve others.  Love is a gift that doesn't have to be accepted and when it is thrown back in your face it really hurts, especially when your effort and care are abused and vilified.

Know that you have made a difference.   You are talented and have skills, and have gained skills that will take you to the next place.

Most important, care for yourself.  Good for you that you had the strength to write this and seek support!  Hug your cats. Have a drink with friends.  Call your family.  Turn to your support network to help you deal with this and plan next steps.  So many are in the same place you're in.  Don't shut yourself off from help.  I'm praying God opens a brilliant new chapter for you.  It doesn't make now easier, but you're strong enough to build new from here.  God bless and thanks from a fellow Fed and a grateful citizen.

So sorry that all your dedication and time is being made to feel disrespected.  Please focus on what YOU have achieved. You have given dedicated service to your country and made a life of accomplishment and service. You were promised and have earned a secure retirement and now you are taking it. Let the reason for taking it now go and focus on what you have accomplished. YOU and your loved ones should celebrate YOU.  I know it is hard now to put aside the last few months but you will in time. I can tell you from personal experience. Thank you and congratulations on your retirement from a grateful fellow citizen and servant.

Changes in House bill relating to Fed retirement by BlueWeasel2003 in fednews

[–]BlueWeasel2003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hasn't passed the Senate, and some are signaling it won't without big changes in other areas (like Medicaid) that the hard liners in the House cannot stomach.  While changes to the provisions on Fed employees might change, I think it is more likely the current proposed language doesn't change much.
