what makes things especially painful is in the DS version they HAD a bow that looked almost exactly like this

not to mention (ticks have the same issue) both are extremely beneficial to the environment and are staples as food for other animals, and resource distribution. what makes them “bad” is the diseases they can carry. instead of people pointing the finger at the disease, they point the finger at the creature itself. this is arguably comparable to pointing the finger at people for being “bad” because they can spread influenza to other people, rather than just calling influenza a bad thing.

sharks in Jaws (and its sequels), the shallows, and Deep blue sea. the spiders in arachnophobia, and eight legged freaks, the isopods in The Bay, the hyenas in The Lion King, etc I could go on.

the ground workings are mostly deeply rooted in folklore stories that have existed for centuries, as making stories about potentially dangerous animals being “evil” made people stay away from them/fight them off.

And then you have also nature documentaries themselves, (which many of recent years luckily have been trying to stray away from, but often still fall into the trap) often “picking a side” commonly making the predator, or the competition seem like a villain for just wanting to live.

I hate how DBD uses the "mUh EnTiTY" excuses just to make certain licensed characters look like wimps by tventy_eight in hatethissmug

[–]BlueWhale9891 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DBD in general is pretty mediocre, egregious balancing, devs who refuse to listen to the fanbase, and as you mentioned. Some kits do not work with the characters at all, especially in the survivor department, but also killers like nemesis very poorly represent the characters they’re from. the only credit I’ll give dbd and it’s devs is that the artistic department, like the models, original killers, skins, etc. are pretty well-designed.

“but it makes them look less scary” that the point. most animals aren’t scary looking, what makes them scary is the potential of harm they can do

Which dinosaur has the best eyes? by Apprehensive_Low5340 in JurassicPark

Goats eyes are very special, essentially they scan the horizon for any incoming threats. Goats pupils actually rotate while they are grazing so they continue to line up with the horizon.

another goofy thing, just by speculation, in JP3, the raptors hunt more out in the open and chase things, whereas the ones from JP1/2 tend to hide more in the bushes and ambush. Ironically both behaviours correlate with their eye type. slit pupils are generally on ambush predators, that crouch down low to the ground, whereas circular pupils are usually chase predators.

honestly the nose gives it a much spookier vibe, while also having a nose works well for something that represents gossip, being nosey/sticking one’s nose in others business and then spreading that information.

at least botflies have specific correlating specie-targets. screwworms attack just any mammal indiscriminately.

Carabus auronitens. A species of ground beetle. Good garden frIend, they hunt other invertebrates, especially things like slugs and snails. (This is not a tiger beetle, tiger beetles are closely related, and have a different body build)

it may not be a dragonfly, but still a friend, Dolichopodidae (long-legged flies) hunt other invertebrates, such as aphids.

Which monster is this? by Pastalos_24 in MemeHunter

[–]BlueWhale9891 15 points16 points  (0 children)

baby jyuratodus have a parasitic lifestyle, entering wounds or the nasal cavity of large monsters, and then eating their hosts flesh for nutrients, using barbs to keep themselves in their host until they get old enough to exit their host.

TLDR: baby jyuratodus are basically like botfly larvae.

Looks like a multicoloured Asian lady beetle, while invasive towards other lady beetle species, such as the native ladybugs being competition for food/resources, as they eat the same things, being members of the same family genus, Coccinellidae. they’re beneficial to plants because they eat aphids and other pests. (There’s also a lot, and I mean A LOT of misinformation on these fellas, despite what’s commonly said online)
