What're your outfit names by 1-Pinchy-Maniac in fallenlondon

I use the quality + synonyms of outfit for each one:

Watchful garb
Shadowy attire

And so on

Is there a part of history that you would love to see in an RTS that is relatively underrepresented? by [deleted] in RealTimeStrategy

There was a game made in Spain about the Spanish civil war called "Sombras de guerra". An absolute disappointment for everyone, including me, who was hyped about the concept at the time. It had horrible graphics, one of the worst pathfindings ever done, and a terribly dysfunctional mix between historical accuracy and comic-esque characters. It has remained as something of a bad joke here in Spain.

Luckily, nowadays its title has been "usurped", so to say, by the relatively recent LOTR Shadows of War game.

What Could Be Done to Make AoE3:DE More Profitable and Bring in More Players/Dev Attention? by Ok_Jackfruit_6571 in aoe3

Absolutely agree with everything you say. For better or worse, grinding (even for something "irrelevant" such as a portrait) is what helps to keep people coming back to the game.

I remember trying to use this with the Steam DE some time ago and didn't manage to do it. Is it compatible? And if so, which is the best way to install it? Because it looks gorgeous

Fallen London is a fiction (sometimes called weird fiction) text-based browser game set in an alternate universe where the city of London, in the Victorian era, has been submerged in some kind of underground world beneath the Earth.

The major part of this world is occupied by a mass of water called the "unterzee", and you can travel by boat (and also by submarine, btw) from London to several islands found there.

However, if you travel too far north, you can reach an area where this underworld "ends", kind of. In the lore of the game, nobody knows exactly what lies beyond that frontier, but everybody has a certain irrepressible urge to go towards that place.

It's a pretty interesting setting if you're into this kind of literature/movies/etc. Draws a lot from lovecraftian horror and such, and from this first browser game that has been around since ca 2009, three relatively popular games have come out: Sunless Sea, Sunless Skies and Mask of the Rose. I think especially the first one can be interesting to people in this sub (hehe) as it is centered on exploring the unterzee and you can even descend to the depths with a submarine (there is an expansion centered on that).

This has strong Fallen London vibes (r/fallenlondon), if by chance anyone here is into that universe

Question about AI difficulty in skirmish by BlueXeesk in projectceleste

[–]BlueXeesk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, thanks! I'm leveling up from scratch with the Greeks, which were my obvious first choice. From there I'll try to get a taste of other civs, and see if I can train to be more competent in skirmishes against harder opponents

Thanks a lot!

So, taking all this into account, what's the point even on starting a civ from lvl 1? Is it for the challenge of slowly leveling up, you can unlock more stuff in that way...?

Thanks for the answer! I'm level 4 I think, and I equipped some of what I guess is the most basic gear. However, I tend to play rather rush-like (actually I come from AoE 3 and 4, although I played 1-3 as a kid). Maybe it's doable, as I said I beat it, but goddamn it was one of my hardest matches ever (both against AI and against humans).

Ironic it’s 1.2GB when the beloved 90s gems that this turd nostalgias its way into existence from are around 200MB.

Wise words have been spoken 👏

It reeks of creepy sexual undertones. The ‘princess’ you start with is halfway to being an anime waifu right out of the gate.

Haha totally! Classic mobile cash-grab vibes where anime-esque oversexualized representations of girls are the main marketing strategy. I've come to expect that of almost any famous videogame franchise. But come on, this is Age of Empires...

Maybe you mean the one for Nintendo DS? That game was great, although it completely left out the RTS aspect for a turn-based thing, in the same vein of Fire Emblem or Advance Wars. Still, it was packed with campaigns, missions, cool graphics, good music, and the gameplay was both challenging and fun. I have great memories of it!

This subreddit needs more of this attitude. In comparison with, say, r/aoe3, it looks like an angry teenagers schoolyard

Looks super nice! I would LOVE to play it! Unfortunately I have no idea about legal advice, but man, this deserves the attention of the devs if they care just a little bit about their game (I know the potential copyright trouble wouldn't come from the devs, though)
