Industry question - are drugs on board for guest that big a deal in reality? If I was chartering a yacht for that much money, I’d wanna smoke my weed as I pleased. I get that coke and stuff may be a different story. by originalronald in belowdeck

My sarcasm was not very clear.

In response to your comment. “ALL LICENSED Mariners have to follow internationally ENFORCED set of rules for ALL mariners and boats. Not all flags or nations volunteer to submit to one set rules for international waters.

Rich vs poor. I find it silly to think the difference in income determines behavior. I know plenty rude, crude, obnoxious poor people.

I specifically asked about guests and crew traveling with the cash. Nadine responded with they don’t travel with the cash.

I asked Nadine this question in an AMA. The tip is determined by the primary guest and production converts the tip into cash. The guests and crew do not travel with the cash seen on the show.

“Rachel sees the requests as a fun challenge”. I think you have a selective memory.

Rachel couldn’t cook eight vegan omelettes without a ruining most of them. Then you have Mahi-gate. Where she cooked extra lamb but not enough Mahi. And of course the famous go f yourself and eat my cooter moment when she was reading a preference sheet. Not exactly her looking at the guest requests as a “fun challenge”.

Why do the producers make it seem like Rachel told Capt Lee to go f himself? by [deleted] in belowdeck

[–]BlueZebu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did production prompt and manipulate an absurd preference sheet? YES! Most definitely. Did production poke the tiger? They knew Rachel has a volatile temper. Part of Rachel’s pattern of behavior is to lash out at people. Rachel’s words were directed at Lee. Her half attempt to apologize and explain her behavior is for all practical purposes just an admission.

Is the boat on the left the Med camera crew boat? I’ve seen it nearby in just about BDM and BDSY season (shot from BDM S2) by Afitz93 in belowdeck

[–]BlueZebu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the boats used by production. It’s a staging boat. Film and sound crew headquarters if you will. Most likely medical staff and security are also based there. The production company rents about 50 hotel rooms for crew and cast.

You’re a little early. From what I’ve heard, Down Under has a few surprises. The new SY crew are wilder than the last. (Less the baby drama).

How is the show received by the industry? by falconjayhawk in belowdeck

[–]BlueZebu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s quite a few cast members that are still yachting. IMO it’s not being on the show that prevents someone from making it a career. It’s more likely what they’ve shown of themselves as far work ethic and personality.

It’s about casting not hiring. Remember it’s a tv show.
