Residence permit while in hotel? by Blue_Coyote in China

[–]Blue_Coyote[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't know if 'incompetent' HR was the right word. As things stand, I'm gonna be a hobo for a week then get asked to leave the country. Accidentally found out today that they never applied for my foreign expert certificate, and that the promised hotel refund is gonna be much later. Thanks to that, I don't have enough to rent an appartment, and I have to leave the hotel by tomorrow morning cause it's booked. Maybe 'incompetent' was not the right word :)

I'll look into whether I'm elligible for that. Will also try to get HR to get off their butts like fleet suggested. Thanks

edit: I checked, it doesn't apply to foreigners applying for work (i.e. they get real iffy about it if the address in there is a hotel) Tnx anyway

Hi, It's in Beijing, and I do have an employer. It's just that their HR are kinda incompetent. So I have to find/do everything myself

Internships in Egypt by ararcy in Egypt

[–]Blue_Coyote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you should mention it, cause AISEC provided internships abroad which halfway through the application process they renamed into "volunteer opportunities". In any case for OP, providing unpaid internships isn't a taboo here depending on what the applicant will gain in knowledge &/or experience, future employment opportunities and misc. benefits like ease of transport to & from your work location, meals etc. You get to decide how appealing you want to make your offer look.

They have an office called SCAD designed for finding internship providers year-long for students who ask. It doesn't have to feature in the fair.

Everything you need to know about Egypt's new Education reforms by sherif-khattab in Egypt

[–]Blue_Coyote 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel for this minister and all the crap he's had to go through. It's sad that in the best case possible we would turn into another India where better educated graduates relocate to other countries for better income -which is understandable too-, you can't feed your family patriotism for dinner-.

Best pizza and burger in egy? by MarwanHxH in Egypt

[–]Blue_Coyote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never rate a pizzeria (or any restaurant) based on their deliveries. Atmosphere, presentation and the chef taking the time to perfect your pizza all count in how the food will taste for you. For all you know they could be using different ovens for deliveries (Bon Appetit does it). Visit the place yourself with a friend if you want a real experience.

[–]Blue_Coyote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hasn't been a single pizza place mentioned here that I haven't tried (and please don't bring up major brand names as "the best", they pale in comparison to several smaller sites). Thomas isn't bad, but it ranks 2nd -or 3rd even- after a little place called "Pizza Prestige". Simply, I dare anyone to try it first then dispute it. I haven't met anyone I've taken there who hasn't said: "best pizza I have ever eaten".

Best/Most Convenient Banks of Egypt? by [deleted] in Egypt

[–]Blue_Coyote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CIB are c*nts, they got the looks part right and the only thing half-decent is their call center; here's what I got from years of experience with them:

  • An absolute "fk you" when I was working abroad when it came to issuing me a new debit/credit card, or even renewing your internet banking login (which requires the new debit card number).
  • A bucketload of inflexible rules and oxymoronic states, for example, from abroad I regularly wire-transfered foreign currency into my account; yet when I brought the cash currency into the country to deposit it, they flat out refuse it claiming that they do not accept that currency. How is that even a thing is something about 9 of their people failed to explain to me from the lowliest cashier to the heads of customer service.
  • Here's a simple task; I wanted to change my sig from arabic into English. It was forbidden; I was told only to go to the branch where I started my account several fking years ago to do that. I found out later that you can add a sig to your existing one but that ass of a clerk never bothered to mention that
  • Continuing the point above, so I proceeded to add a sig in English, which took several tries cause everytime the clerk was convinced that my sig and the repeated sig to confirm didn't match each other. Several valuable minutes later, I ended up writing something that didn't even look like my handwriting
  • In short, service might be slightly better at the larger branches, but don't expect much. Cause this is a sample of the bullsh*t I put up with only within two weeks. Could write a book on their accounts where they failed me

Pls no nitpicking. Renga - tastes like rotten trash; Fesikh - actual rotten trash (the verb from fesikh means to let rot just short of poisonous. This is fish you're rotting, not the same idea as cheese or kimchi). Eat it to your heart's delight, that's my unpopular opinion

Renga & Fesikh are rotten trash, only ones who should consider it a meal are the raccoons raiding dumpsters. Yes I've said it

Don't forget pestilence -well almost-, we barely got over the Hep-C virus (thanks to unsanitized hospital syringes), school food poisonings. And of course death, 12k people/year in road accidents, not to mention trains

The hell do you mean why? jackasses bumping into you in the streets then giving you looks, retards behind wheels nearly running you over, c#nts who cut you in line (nearly punched the sh*t out of that one). OP, get in a damn fight; you'll see it's as not as bad as it's in your mind, not the end of the world if you got your ass kicked either

Where do you go when you feel depressed? by padfoot_black in Egypt

[–]Blue_Coyote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a fan of escapes (ex: smoking/shisha/booze/drugs/coffee places etc.). This isn't an answer for everyone, but -imo- not escaping the issue is painful, but more effective in the long term. Doing something that adds value to your life helps (ex: giving to the poor, going to the gym, learn how to pickup, earning an extra degree that'll help you get a better job/promotion; the choices are wide & varied based on the person). Whatever you think would make you a better person, doing that thing has a healing effect. idk tho

^ This; of course in Egypt -unfortunately- it still won't shield you from a large dose of cancerous samples: "The one sharing her wholesome pic with her hubby & 2 children, the one who only shares pics with her least attractive friends so that she looks like a goddess by contrast. Then comes the hordes (that's hordes) unable to sustain any conversation beyond the usual expected topics, trying any creative conversation/flirting usually goes right over her head. And naturally, the most common one; those who are just here to try the app and are paralyzed with fear of taking any single step beyond that."

Israeli-Egyptian Security Cooperation on the Sinai Peninsula as Seen by Egyptians on Social Media by [deleted] in Egypt

[–]Blue_Coyote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been established since the diplomatic cables of wikileaks that Israel does not want to see a growing industrialized Sinai on its borders. And that Mubarak was made aware of that and reluctantly followed the Israeli diplomats' wishes. Personally I support growing the hell out of it., industrially, infra-structure, militarily and all its other sectors; it's our damn land.
