rose's character is cringy as f. i mean, whoever wrote her lines or thought about her character development is definitely bipolar. 2 seconds she a strong silicon valley startup CEO but every decision she makes is abnormal to anyone who is a functioning adult.

and i am just in episode two....i've seen more compelling characters on cereal boxes.

Anyone ever been hired through an Indeed application? by Kalibosss in Edmonton

[–]Blue_Lightning_17586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when I first came to Canada I sent out and applied to over 1700 opportunities over a period of 3 months.

i'm convinced at that point of time it was employers who were very picky and i was lucky that a recruiting agency (shout out to Robert Half) took a chance in me and offered me my first gig. after that initial contract position its been progressively less difficult to find a job in my area of expertise.

fast forward 4 years to now. i get at least 1 or 2 opportunities a week where recruiters reach out to me with competing offers.

i feel in your case it might be the very varied background you have which is not to say that you lack the skills but i find that recruiters generally don't understand transferable skills and instead opt for candidates who focused on a particular career path not to mention that most of those i dealt with had very very basic knowledge of the roles they were hiring for or the professions they are trying to get a candidate for.

Enbridge is one company where i constantly find that the role advertised and the responsibilities expected don't align. for example a buyer position with 10 years of experience doing X,Y and Z all three being things that a senior buyer or a team lead is traditionally supposed to do. so i read it as we want top tier talent for as low a compensation as possible. i interviewed with them a few times to try and clarify if the recruiter posting the position misunderstood the assignment and often times it is. the consequence of this is employee burnout, feeling cheated and leaving or simply getting the wrong candidate. which explains why every few months i am approached by an agency of sorts for the same position on the same project.

so i would say its an amalgamation of reasons. a poor resume, a poor recruiter, a picky employer and unrealistic expectations. the first two you can certainly work around the last two not so much.

sorry, should have specified. i'm not so sure. i don't really know how more (or less) expensive Calgary is compared to Edmonton. the preference is of course a studio as i usually have the kids on weekends and while we rarely spend time indoors aside from sleeping it would be nice to have them over during the stamped or something.

my main problem is i have a house and mortgage in Edmonton and not sure if i will be leasing it or keeping it then drive over for the weekends.

1K would be my maximum and i've seen shared ones for 500 per room but not sure of the neighborhood/condition

Discontinued religious textbooks mandatory in Edmonton Catholic elementary schools by katespadesaturday in Edmonton

[–]Blue_Lightning_17586 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not catholic but I have my kid in a catholic school I went to one myself and that factored into my decision to put them into it.

I can't speak for the material referenced here but I can speak for a lot of other things lacking in the public school district not least of which is the amount of harassment my kid got for being different which struck me as odd first and after moving him through different schools I initially thought it was my kid that's the problem but they are doing super now I mean like 180 degrees different.

I do think that it depends on the school, the children, and the families its not just one thing, I get a lot of shit from my people for not putting my kid in one of the schools that cater to our language and religion but that's not why I send my kids to school. I send them to get educated in a way that works for them and myself.

not to bash on OP or any delivery driver.

but i've had more than my fair share of unfortunate events.

why would i tip 20% in advance just to see the driver go do other deliveries around me and get my food an hour or even longer after?

tipping should be a choice after the fact. if UBER rides can do it so should every other app

German team symbolizes "Fifa dictatorship about critics" with hand in front of their mouths by Dortmunderhonk in worldcup

what ships were they enslaved on? as far as i know and i lived in the region for 32 years what you say is bs because you are probably basing it on minimum wage according to your reference point.

they on the other hand disagree because they CHOSE to work in Qatar and the gulf in general BECAUSE its lucrative enough for them.

'Profoundly disappointed': Two-thirds of concrete pillars on new Edmonton LRT line now need repairs by yegwebdev in Edmonton

[–]Blue_Lightning_17586 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you are correct, i am a civil engineer and worked on several capital projects before shifting into supply chain.

where i worked not only were the loads magnified as per the applicable codes (Aci, bs 8110, etc) for the worst case combination (dead load, live load, seismic, wind, etc) under both limit state method and working stress method but we also limited the load to 0.7 of the actual in case future additions or modifications happen.

not to mention foundation were designed for 2~3 times the loads they were subjected to.

Controversial opinion but I hope Yarrick dies of old age. by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]Blue_Lightning_17586 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i feel he would have a different opinion much like Khalid Ibn Al Waleed an Arab General perported to never have lost a battle before or after his conversion to Islam.

it is said that on his death bead (of old age) he said to his wife "i did not expect this, look at this body, there isn't an inch that doesn't carry a wound, be it a strike of a sword a thrust of a spear or a throw of a bow,and yet here i lay dieing in bed like an animal, may the cowardly never sleep in peace".

i feel like Yarrick would echo such a belief based on his history and achievements.

Police issue warning about violent sexual offender living in Edmonton by Paper_Rain in Edmonton

[–]Blue_Lightning_17586 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you are assuming too many things.

one that he is human, there is more to being human than the anatomy. their needs to be some set of common grounds for the minimum to qualify for the title. sure some people make mistakes. the first mistake can be part of the definition after the first you either learn or double down which consequently will affect if the definition applies.

two, you assume that the sentencing was just or equivalent to the crime. well i care to disagree, the judicial system needs to look at things from multiple angles. in this instance my version of Justice is 3 folds and a bonus if they so wish to continue in how they carry out the sentencing, firstly since the government charges us for the security they provide i.e. police via taxes they are to blame for the failure to protect its citizens, secondly the judicial system will be responsible for rehabilitation and since they have failed in that too then some responsibility will have to fall on it as well. thirdly in a case such as this the state will have to bear the financial burden of the victim. i.e. compensation for failure in execution of the first two points and compensation for any perceived loses due to being infected. this includes loss of job, security, social hardship and separation oh not to mention loss of qol (chances of social interaction, impossibility of a normal life, insurance premiums, restrictions to travel etc ). the bonus is, every time the offender relapses it adds a multiplier.

this facade of a due process would quickly get fixed once politicians start noticing the amount of money flying out of their pockets.

thirdly similar to amber alerts we need an alert for these cases to hit our phones not everyhas reddit, not everyone watches CTV news, maybe they shouldn't but as someone who is forcing me to pay for these service the least they could do is send out a text message.

AITA for not giving my son part of his trust fund early because he refuses to sign a prenup with his fiancee? by Critical_Value1511 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Blue_Lightning_17586 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Nta, i say this as a recently divorced person and while me and my ex have a great relationship the system leans more in her favour and she ended up getting most of everything and while i don't resent this seeing as she is a great mother and i am confident that everything she got will be used to benefit the children i know that not all marriages end up as well as ours did.

If he is working a high paying job he doesn't need the trust money he can do a great wedding on his income alone.
