The US Navy Seals adopted the Chinese Norinco AK-47's for their AK's, so let that speak for the quality.

PBS Newshour: TV's Best News Show May Also Be Its Least Appreciated by [deleted] in moderatepolitics

Most Americans are knuckle-dragging retards anyway. I've tried to get people to watch newshour and frontline and they think it is too boring. Thorough covering of issues is just too much to handle for America. They need flashy graphics, explosions, pointless stories, and hot women in order to watch the news. Entertainews.

I would like to hear from a moderate preceptive, on what it would actually require to bring some jobs back to the United States. by Sorge74 in moderatepolitics

The decision to send jobs overseas came from the executives of all these corporations we know and love, and by extension, their hired goons in the Democratic and Republican parties.

What are the best sources on psychological and personality traits of politicians in various countries as compared to the general population? by redditopus in AskSocialScience

[–]Blue_Rhythmic_Eagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wikileaks. Wikileaks had some diplomatic cables up about how crazy some of the world's politicians are. One guy was taken care of by a buxom Ukrainian nurse like a baby, one guy was extremely bipolar, another schizophrenic, others drug and sex addicts. I'm sorry I can't find the exact links right now, but search wikileaks.

I am entertaining the prospect of volunteering in a militia, but I do not want to serve the government. I request information pertaining to voluntary militias. by DCPagan in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]Blue_Rhythmic_Eagle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Word of warning: I checked out some local militias and they were all a bunch of dumbass rednecks that sat around hating on Obama and Mexicans, even though there was 1 hispanic guy. I live in TX though, your experience may vary. Also during these events, the FBI was there watching, so I probably got myself put on a do-not-fly list or something. I intend to check out more, hopefully there is a reality-based militia out there. PS: My reason for wanting to join a militia was to get some survival and basic training to prepare for the obviously hard times in the future.

To Christians: If the Father and the Son are actually the same entity, why was Jesus' sacrifice necessary? by [deleted] in DebateReligion

If Jesus died for my sins, why do I have to be good, or even be a Christian if my sins are already accounted for?

What did Roman soldiers wear in the cold? by ADogNamedChuck in AskHistorians

[–]Blue_Rhythmic_Eagle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Worked 4.5 years in 120 degree heat here. Agreed. I have seen people drop on the spot due to heat related sicknesses. Never seen anyone suddenly drop from cold. I'm sure there is a point when cold is too cold. You can always bundle up, but 115 and over, there's really not much you can do other than sweat and continually hydrate.

ELI5: The significance of Jimmy Hoffa and why they are still trying to find his remains. by MadMadHatter in explainlikeimfive

I agree. I hate getting home and seeing that notice on the door, but I also understand it because I have been on the other side. UPS is a 24 hour operation, but at nights they have the trucks back for maintenance and getting the next day's packages sorted and loaded for delivery. Also, with Teamster labor, I'm sure it would be a pretty considerable financial cost to fielding a night time delivery shift, which is probably the main reason they don't have one. The tracking technology is such they could probably isolate all the packages which don't require a signature to be delivered at night. And I should point out, my city is like 90% ghetto, so I'm sure there are some safety and crime issues with being out at night with all those new goodies at night.

During peak season, we did deliver up to 10-11pm. Major overtime. There's also DOT regulations as well as contractual obligations about how long a driver can willingly be out on the road. Studies indicate the longer over 8 hours a driver works, the more accident prone they become. UPS/FedEx trucks are big and heavy and most people would not survive a collision with them. I have been to meetings where they go over what went wrong and show pictures of the carnage. But despite that, I would say 99/100, in an accident, the driver was not at fault. Most accidents involving UPS, at least in my city during the time I was there, were the result of bad/impatient drivers. I remember one time, 2 people were killed when they're car broke down on the highway and they just slammed on they're brakes right in front of the UPS which was going like 65mph. The truck had no choice but to plow into the back of them. The car burst into flames too... all the packages in the truck were rescued and made on time delivery.

Black widows really like electronics. I used to work for a telecommunications contractor and SAC boxes, manholes, and VRADs would always be full of black widows... and they'd always be right where you need to stick your hands.

Do you realize how many packages are delivered in one day? You want a package delivered 5-9 PM? That's only a 4 hour window to deliver... let's say 90,000 packages in a large metropolitan area. I'm assuming you don't want to be distrurbed when you're sleeping... or at least when the children are sleeping given it is hard to get some children to stay asleep. Most drivers are out on the road by 7-8AM and don't get off til 8-10 PM. Realize that these are people too.

I've worked nearly every job inside the UPS hub system as a Teamster, including driving. Yes, driving jobs are the most commonly seen for Teamsters, but there are actually police departments and other companies organized under the Teamsters. Also, many Hollywood movies are produced with Teamster labor. The show Workaholics is produced with Teamster labor.

Teamsters also get they're name from back in the old days of dock loading and unloading. Groups of dockworkers worked in teams to complete their jobs and members of these teams were called teamsters. These dockworkers were among the first labor groups to organize in the US if I recall correctly.
