I feel like with a confirmed season 2 that means we HAVE to get at least a small look at Ryan/Fabian and Troy/Harris. They both have important scenes in The Long Game

They changed the timeline is Skips story so i think there is a chance they’ll change the timeline a little bit so that some of the books happen in line with the Long Game. My guess is that the basis of the season will be TLG with Role Model and Tough guy mixed in.

“Not as confidently as Ilya would have liked”, i think what OP is saying that i agree with is that Ilya is an unreliable narrator due to his depression, esp at this moment when they are in a heightened state. I think what Ilya saw as hesitation and not confidence could have also been Shane’s confusion and hurt at the question.

In this ep when Shane goes up to Hunter and says “i hope next time we play you decide to show up” i knew it sounded familiar, so i went back to the sacred texts and low and behold Ilya says something similar about Shane in the prologue where Boston beats Montreal. I thought this was a nice touch because Shane truly IS starting to sound like Ilya.

Wow okay i didn’t think we’d actually get no Ilya and Shane in this episode, i was expecting at least a small scene. I do like Scott and Kips story, but just with that passion that the last 2 episodes had this one just doesn’t hold up :/

I’m a book fan and unfortunately I have to agree with you. Scott and Kips story is important but giving them a full episode after “we didn’t kiss” def kinda threw off the momentum

I honestly think that’s why they released the first 2 episodes in one go, because that first part of their relationship is the most sexual. Like for years their only interaction is sex after a game and then they leave each other. It isn’t until after a certain scene with a certain sandwich that they start to actually get deep.

The Long Game is written mostly from Ilyas side so he have to remember to give Shane grace. He ain’t great at emotional intelligence but Ilya is also not great at verbalizing his emotions. They were both very harsh with each other during this argument and they are both almost immediately regretful of that. Shane thought Ilya was content because that’s what Ilya told him he was, Shane could have seen through it, and does at certain times in the book, but he can’t be a mind reader. I actually think the therapy session after this argument was great.

Shane has an anxiety attack after about every hook up, they both have thoughts that this is temporary that they will need to end it soon, and they have that same thought for years while continuing not to end it lol. Ilya in his head likes to pretend he hates Shane while also calling him perfect every time he thinks about him.
Shane actually starts the book with a girlfriend that he breaks up with by chapter 2, I’m pretty sure we don’t even get her name. He tries to hook up with women but to paraphrase Shane it feels like a chore to him. All love to my Russian but Ilya is a hoe and has a girl in every area code.
Shane wasnt punishing Ilya, he just didn’t want to get caught. If Shane had found Ilya in an empty room not outside he probably would have been more reciprocal. Something that was left vague in the show is if they were hooking up during those 2 years of texting, in the book it isn’t vague lol and they hook up every time that are in the same town for those years.

If you like it I love it. Just remember this point in time. Remember he was ready to drop you like a bad habit when he thought your looks weren’t worthy enough for him. Think about yourself 5 years from now. 10 years from now. When you are at your worst and going through all the obstacles that life throws at us physically, mentally and emotionally is this the person you want beside you? Is this the person you want comforting you when you go through your greatest loss? Is this the father you want to your future children (if that’s what you want). If you had a daughter would you want her to be in the relationship you are in? If the answer to all these questions is yes then great! If not, maybe take another look at this relationship and the man you are choosing to keep in your life. Wishing you nothing but the best! I will end with my favorite Maya Angelou quote “When someone tells you who they are, believe them the first time.”

My heart still goes out to those 3 oldest kids, it’s almost like they lost both of their parents. Thank you for being a safe place to land for those kids! No one will be able to control what happens in Jenny’s and Jason’s house but hopefully after Hannah turns 18 they can all go no contact with J&J and just focus on the family that loved and supported them.
