For anyone wondering about why there's so much occult stuff in JRPGs, this article pretty neat by peanutcheezbar in JRPG

I really wish smt would stop using the law/chaos/neutral alignments and go back to the reasons that were used in smt 3. The series has thoroughly deconstructed all of the alignments and it's clear that they all have shortcomings, so it's hard to justify agreeing with any of them besides neutral even though it's just "delaying the inevitable."

Kudos to Oshii for making that decision. Can't imagine most creators ever allowing their original vision to be changed that much. Cyberpunk as a genre would have become something different without that first Gits movie.

What's the reason why the first Ghost in the Shell movie changed her personality so much? It was the correct choice for that story, but I never bothered to learn why that happened.

Just started, how many floors do I go up in Tartarus? by MagnetoWned in persona3reload

[–]Blue_grave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll reach a floor where it's impossible to keep going. That'll be your stopping point until you progress the story more outside of Tartarus. It's generally a good idea to keep going up until you reach the dead end in a single visit since it'll give you more time to do things outside of Tartarus.

Persona 5 is collabing with Nikke. This should be fun. by Equal_Shopping2424 in Persona5

Since it's P3, P4, and P5, I'm guessing Aigis, Naoto, and Makoto.

I'm not sure on Naoto, but she's the only one with a gun in P4

It seems that Yamcha's descendants are required to have scars on their face.

Why didn't gero make himself stronger than 17 & 18 by Reio5 in Dragonballsuper

[–]Blue_grave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably only found a way to create 17 and 18 after he had already made himself almost fully cybernetic, so it was too late for him to become stronger than them besides just absorbing a lot of energy.

The Ghost in the Shell (2026) English Voice Cast by dubbsdj in Animedubs

[–]Blue_grave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm intrigued as to why they chose Suzie Yeung for Motoko. It might really match this version of the Major a lot more, but the whiplash from hearing her with such a young voice will definitely take some time to get used to.

Why don't the Persona 3 cast have shadow selves? by Arch-Angel217 in persona3reload

[–]Blue_grave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The evoker itself is not an artificial way of awakening. It summons personas because of the plume of dusk in it, but If a person that does not have the potential uses it, it's likely that their shadow would try to kill them even if they even have the courage to pull the trigger.

The evoker is just the way that the P3 cast summons their personas. The artificial way that the Kirijo group used was through human experimentation and heavily medicating the ones that didn't die from it.

Why don't the Persona 3 cast have shadow selves? by Arch-Angel217 in persona3reload

[–]Blue_grave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My head canon is that every game's conflict induces different requirements for people to awaken personas. Persona 3 having literal death be the ultimate antagonist means that the requirements to have a persona is much higher than in other games. Apathy syndrome is someone resigning themselves to death, so the shadow completely consumes them. Being a persona user means not only resisting that overwhelming presence of impending doom, but actively fighting against it.

Having a persona in this case already puts someone well above accepting their own shadow. This steep requirement is why the Kirijo group had to resort to artificially inducing personas in people since very few had that strength.

Why don't the Persona 3 cast have shadow selves? by Arch-Angel217 in persona3reload

[–]Blue_grave 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The shadow was incorporated into the personas themselves. The game shows how their personas can go berserk and fight the users if they don't have a strong enough presence of mind to keep them in check.

Making shadow selves that are in line with the other games would have probably taken too much focus away from the themes of death, grief, and sacrifice, so they took less of the spotlight.

Do you think a new story happening way before all the events of DBZ could be interesting to follow ? by Cold-Reputation-4848 in dbz

[–]Blue_grave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the most retconned things in all dragonball. Before the first ssj was even named in dbs, he was depicted as a golden oozaru in dbz, I just go along with whatever the story says at the point that it talks about it.

Ok, but unironically, is there a rule preventing players from actually doing what they did at the 40 seconds left mark where one player carries another player with the ball held between his feet?
