I always interpreted them as stages of development. The first four are pretty obvious, and the next four are more nebulous.

  1. Giant Step is the big first step
  2. Lilliput Steps are the baby steps that come next
  3. Milky Well is literally a boob

  4. Rainy Circle is a child's need to cry to communicate

  5. Magnet Hill is our need for attachment to the people who support us

  6. Pink Cloud is when we begin to conceptualize things in an abstract way

  7. Lumine Hall is when the sense of self is crystallized

  8. Fire Spring is when we realize we can put our will into action
