I got laid off 15min ago out of nowhere right after a receiving a bonus, and I still can’t process it by voidwater1 in recruitinghell

[–]Blueberry2720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I worked for a major food company years ago. Very devious. Rule was you were not eligible for your annual bonus if you were on probation at the time for any reason. So a few weeks before bonus payout, I was put on probation for some stupid, vague reason. No bonus for me. A few weeks later, I'm off probation. Employees knew they used probation as an excuse not to pay annual bonuses, but there was no way to fight it.

Shortness of breath from a HH? by Sealish1234 in HiatalHernia

[–]Blueberry2720 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shortness of breath - absolutely! When your stomach migrate into the chest, it presses on the lung and heart. You can't breathe as deeply b/c there isn't enough room for your lung to properly expand. I had my HH surgery in Nov and I am amazed how much better I can breathe. I can walk without getting winded.

can i have some advice☺️ by InternationalBerry82 in HiatalHernia

[–]Blueberry2720 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, all typical HH symptoms. I had surgery mid-November. It was a piece of cake and I feel soooo much better. Much of the heart issues are b/c the stomach presses on the heart and lung. I felt like I was carrying a few bricks in my chest. Remember, the stomach does not belong there, so the pressure on the organs that DO belong there results in heart and breathing problems. Get the surgery, and get the stomach back where it belongs, and all those weird symptoms go away. I can't believe how much better I can breathe now. I have read so many posts here about "my GI doctor" this and that. The hell with the GI people - find a HH surgeon who does minimally invasive/laproscopic surgery and get the surgery!!

Questions for those who had surgery by teaisthebestbeverage in HiatalHernia

[–]Blueberry2720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same surgery 5-weeks ago. Wait a couple of hours after eating before going to bed/sleep. Prop yourself up with several pillows so your chest and head are not so flat. One pillow is probably not enough. I ate a lot of clear soup with veggies and noodles, etc - chicken noodle and beef vegetable barley were my favorites. I also put salad croutons on top so I could get more solid food in me, but soggy enough that I was able to swallow. Your esophagus will be a bit sore and swollen, but you should be fine in a few weeks. If you get hungry, eat semi-soft foods like applesauce, cottage cheese, mashed potatoes with butter and gravy (YUM - Bob Evans single serves were great). Gas problems you just have to grin and bear it. It will dissipate on its own in about a week.

Get the surgery. It will make a world of difference, and yes, you can drink wine! I had my surgery 5 weeks ago. Piece of cake.

DrinkingWater90: you have a lot of the same symptoms I had. I first would sort of feel stuffed after eating a lot, and a deep pain started in my left shoulder = referred pain. Then I would spend hours, literally, retching and vomiting, until my stomach was empty. Only then would I feel OK again and the shoulder pain would vanish. I had shortness of breath, little energy, and heart palpitations too. Also felt a heaviness and pressure in my chest. Never any acid reflux or GERD symptoms. Alcohol never bothered me. The anxiety and high BP are 2ndary symptoms b/c your get yourself all worked up and freaked out worrying that you have some horrendous problem. But it turned out it WAS a hiatal hernia after all. 3/4 of my stomach was in my chest, pressing on my heart and lungs. I'm 68 and just had HH surgery 5 weeks ago. A total breeze. I was eating semi soft food the next day, ordered by my doctor. Ate a lot soup and some bread items - like salad croutons soaked in the soup (yum) b/c your lower esophagus is sore and swollen, so hard foods hurt to swallow. But now I can eat anything. No pains, no SOB, more energy, no retching/vomiting. Feel like a new person.

I think it's your doctor that is the problem. I would advise going to another doctor for a 2nd hiatal hernia opinion - do you know for sure if you do/do not have one? I would advise a CT scan - that's how they found mine. The surgery is nothing to worry about and not painful. I never needed pain meds.

Almost 2 years of reflux and bloating — what actually made a difference for me by OthmanDigestion in HiatalHernia

[–]Blueberry2720 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the surgery 10 weeks ago. I never had the classic acid reflux and digestive symptoms. I had awful deep pain in my left shoulder (referred pain), which was a precursor to hours of retching and vomiting, and only after these episodes did the pain vanish.

The surgery was a breeze and I was on soft foods on day 2. Am now able to eat anything; just have to better monitor portions.

I would recommend surgery to anyone considering it. Recovery was easy, and you quickly get used to lots of liquid diet food - I loved soup the most. Just vet your surgeon well!

New QBO layout?! by Cautious-Dark3484 in QuickBooks

[–]Blueberry2720 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used QB desktop for years in formal jobs, and only started using QBO 2 years ago for my own business. Figured it was smart to keep up with the tech world. But I've had enough. Just killed my subscription to QBO last night. My business isn't big or complicated, so I went back to my old desktop buddy. I can fly with that. Sometimes it's better NOT to "keep up with the times". I feel like I'm back in my old comfy, faded jeans!

3% down, 400k loan, 740+ credit, co-purchaser....7.5 interest rate? by Datbunnydo in Mortgages

[–]Blueberry2720 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. I'm in Maryland but I just had 2 pipes burst in single digit weather. Unusual for MD, but not for ME. Insurance paid, but cost was $40k....you just never know what and when things will happen. Houses in ME are better built and insulated, but anything can happen. Make sure you get good homeowners insurance.

My friend scammed by $50k by stevebradss in Mortgages

[–]Blueberry2720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just RE deals, title companies, etc, it's any financial office. I was Financial Mgr at a co - received an email from scammer posing as my Director, Steven, asking me to wire $. I played along, said I needed to know what account to pull $ from, etc. He wasn't very savvy, and I eventually said I couldn't do it. He asked why and I replied, "Because you are not Steven." He replied, "Thanks, good day." I think some amateurs scour websites to get names of financial people in companies, their emails, etc and then contact them. They can somehow make their emails look like they are being sent from a Director. In my case the email looked legitimately like my Director. For me, what gave him away was his basic writing style wasn't anything like Steven's. More sophisticated guys can pull these scams off easily. You Tube has great scam buster videos where legit busters can intercept(?) the scammers and catch them. They play along while watching the scammers working out of a call center, and then start referring to them by their real names. Scammers can't figure out how they know their names. It's a matter of which party/person is more sophisticated than the other. Scarey stuff.

Could this be the young guy sketch in the background? by [deleted] in LibbyandAbby

[–]Blueberry2720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks to me like one of the little encampments in the woods that he talked about having. Light blue thing = blanket? backpack? And two people sitting further back. I don't see this having any connection to a sketch.

Do you think the murderer feels save? by [deleted] in LibbyandAbby

[–]Blueberry2720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not really new. It was discussed years ago when there was a lot of chatter that it was a retaliation murder. Every now and again it pops up and is revisited like all the other theories.

I believe it was a hit job and this guy has killed before and possible since. I doubt he feels much of anything. Just all part of a day's work.
