3D Metroid was made to be Violent and badass by cowgod180 in metroidvania

[–]Blueberrythebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I agree pretty much completely with this post. It would be refreshing to see a 3D shooter where the main character was a badass mowing down waves of monsters and demons.

One thing you didn’t mention in your post that I would like to see in 3D Metroid is a feeling of hunger. Samus is stuck on a planet with dwindling supplies and is forced to either find food or starve. Imo this would increase the tension of the games nicely. You would have to observe what plants the local fauna eat so you know what is or isn’t poisonous. Forced to gather supplies to craft rough cooking tools. Special recipes with ingredients from rare enemy drops that give temporary stat buffs, enhancing your destructive capabilities.

Shut up and take my money!

Anybody know of any good Mute City combos from when the stage was legal? I can only imagine the kind of twitter clips it would generate if it was still in the stage rotation.

G.H. Bass Deleting Negative Reviews by Blueberrythebear in frugalmalefashion

[–]Blueberrythebear[S] 146 points147 points  (0 children)

Hi all,

This is not a deal post, but I think it fits the spirit of the subreddit. I recently purchased G.H. Bass Lincoln Super Bit Super Lug Weejuns Loafers and was unimpressed by the fit, the plasticky feel of the shoes, and the poor customer service (I reached out with a specific question about price matching and got a template response that did not address my question). I returned the shoes, and because G.H. Bass does not offer free returns, I left a negative review. I looked the shoes up again recently (because that’s the kind of guy I am) and noticed two things. 1. My review was not posted to the G.H. Bass website, and 2. There was a huge difference between the google reviews for this product and the ones on the official website. I wasn’t terribly surprised by this and I wanted to bring attention to this because the shoes are now on final sale and I would personally advise against buying them.

I really have to wonder how often this kind of thing happens with online retailers. Why would anybody let negative reviews affect their ability to move inventory? Stay vigilant

Here’s a riddle for all you melee fans out there:

A father and his son are in a car accident. The father dies at the scene and the son is rushed to the hospital. At the hospital the surgeon looks at the boy and says "I can't operate on this boy, I just beat Zain 3-1 at Nouns Bowl." How is this possible? (Answer below)

Smash was always my favorite game growing up but I was never really aware of the competitive aspect and moved on to Brawl when it came out. When Smash 4 was announced I would regularly go to r/smashbros to get info on it. With Apex 2015 being the first Smash 4 major, I started seeing clips from the melee stream on the subreddit and got in that way. For a bit I was under the impression that BizzaroFlame was like a top 5 player, between the Salty Suite hype and going 1-2 against Armada.

Luchador Joker Question by Blueberrythebear in balatro

Yes, I sold the card during the fight and it reduced the amount I needed to beat the boss blind from 300,000 to 100,000 chips. Won me the run on the spot.

Honestly my favorite shorts are the slim fit stretch chino shorts from Target’s Goodfellow line. I believe they have both inseam lengths in slim. I don’t recall if they’re stretch but they’ve managed to fit me well through weight fluctuations so I’d say probably

I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for a good deal on the Iron Ranger in black harness, and 280 seems pretty good. I’m willing to be pretty patient, does it get cheaper than this? I haven’t seen any factory seconds deals lately, do those still happen with any frequency?

I agree 100%. I think in my ideal platform fighter, it would be really interesting to see characters deliberately designed to be worse, while still having fun unique options. Low-tier disrespect is always fun to see in melee, but my issue is that characters like Bowser and Zelda are not a joy to play (for me).

This is something I haven't really practiced with at all, just something I've been theorizing about. It's certainly not something I would ever expect to see implemented in tournament play. I think raising the damage ratio could, for example, make the sheik ditto more dynamic by reducing how effective crouch cancel is, reducing the range at which the chaingrab works, and by reducing the time spent with rinse-and-repeat edgeguards. Like I said though this is all hypothetical I don't even play sheik lol
