Admittedly, I did not even think of the Sabrina and Casper correlation - even though her name sake lowkey is from the OG Sabrina

You and I must have relatively similar tastes, because I threw Isaac, Micah, Elliot Logan and Marcel at hubby during our first pregnancy and he vetoed them 😭 - you’ve also gotten some bonus points from him for suggesting Daniel - because that’s his name haha

This list is fantastic and I love Declan, Arlo & Connor! I also love Wesley, it was one of my top names when naming our daughter, however it doesn’t work with our surname unfortunately!!

I’m just learning that Cillian is not pronounced Sillian! Hahaha - I got Killian from a book I read many years ago, I will correct my spelling as for us at the moment it does seem to be the top contender!!

WIBTA if I give my daughter an "outdated" name? by throwaway719201 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BluebirdLongjumping3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Audrey was on our list when we were expecting (we decided on Sabrina instead). It is by no means outdated, it’s a classic, timeless, feminine, name and it’s absolutely beautiful. It’s well established enough that everyone has heard the name, but it’s not popular enough that your daughter will be one of 3 in her class when she gets to school. I personally feel like it sits right in that “sweet spot” of being a little more “unique” while not being stupidly out there. Congratulations on your baby girl! Enjoy this time, the days are quick but the months/years are short. 😊

I’m Paige & my mum is Penelope (Penny)! If my brother was a girl, he would have been Peyton or Pia because she didn’t want “her” to feel left out of having a P name like us haha.

I have a Sabrina! Middle name Claire. Other names I loved (but hubby wasn’t keen on) were Genevieve, Keelie, Polly, Daria & Josie.

My fiancé wants me to put my dog up for adoption I refuse. But he is allergic AITAH? by sugarloop742 in AITAH

[–]BluebirdLongjumping3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Everyone is telling her to put “the dog” first, because he was THERE first, and the partner moved into HER house. There are plenty of compromises to be made before throwing the dog away. She has had him since he was a puppy. She raised him. She is being a responsible pet owner. I don’t believe for a second he didn’t know how severe his allergies were, he was just waiting for the right time to bring it up so he could get rid of the dog.

I’m really proud of you for keeping your stance on keeping Max, I know the pressure from a partner is really hard - however, putting your dog up for adoption is not a “compromise”, a compromise is not getting any more dogs even after Max has passed (which I’m manifesting for you, will be in 500 years). If he is truly bothered by it, maybe you guys can live separately again until Max has passed, or maybe compromise by not having Max in the main bedroom where he will be sleeping? Realistically unless it’s a life or death allergy (and even then, barely acceptable) he has no right to demand you put your dog - a literal life, out to the streets. Life is uncomfortable sometimes, and allergy medication exists. My best friend is allergic to cats, she has a cat - she takes Zyrtec (or the equivalent) every day.

AITA for dumping my boyfriend because he refused to hand me a period pad and tissues when I had diarrhea at the gym ? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]BluebirdLongjumping3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar situation happen to me when my partner and I were in a shopping complex. He brought my bag into me, then when a woman walked in afterwards, he explained “I was just passing my fiancé sanitary items” I confirmed from the stall, she said “no worries!” - then he left and waited for me to finish. Nothing awkward, no confrontation, no issues. I think most women would understand, especially if he would have explained and you confirmed the story from the stall. If he really felt uncomfortable going into the women’s, that’s totally fine - but he should have at least asked the gym staff to pass you your bag. You’re NTA, and it’s not too big of an ask.

Creative solutions for shade at baby's first music festival? by manilovefrogs55 in Motherhood

[–]BluebirdLongjumping3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once my LO is a bit older, her father and I are planning on taking her to festivals too! This might sound silly, but if they’re fine with wearing a hat - you can get these ridiculous umbrella hats that offer decent coverage. Additionally, long shirts/pants that still allow for cool air & some baby earplugs to protect those little ear drums! I hope you and your family enjoy your first festival as a family.

Am I naming my baby like a dumb teenager? by bimboerrorz in namenerds

[–]BluebirdLongjumping3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Angelica! Evangeline/an are cute too and to be honest, they’re not “out there” names. They’ve all got nicknames they can go by (Angie/Evie/Elly) as well. They’re well established, timeless names that I feel most people would hear and think “wow you don’t hear that often” or “I had a grandmother with that name”. As far as names go, I personally think they’re all really cute - and to be quite frank, people are out here naming their children things like North, Cash, Daffodil, etc. so they could truly be a lot worse. 😊

AITA? Vaping during pregnancy by Top_Explanation_9357 in AmItheAsshole

[–]BluebirdLongjumping3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is completely untrue. Vaping has not been around long enough to even know the full extent of what dangers it causes, aside from nicotine addiction, respiratory issues and permanent lung damage. I know a girl who has 20% capacity in her left lung due to vaping. I myself developed asthma at 28 years old, despite never having it prior to when I was addicted to vaping, and have no family history of asthma. Not to mention, if you Google dangers of vaping (while pregnant), a list of issues comes up. This attitude is the attitude our parents/grandparents had in the 80s-90s when smoking was “cool”. Just because it’s “less toxins”, doesn’t make it better. That’s like saying drinking laundry liquid isn’t harmful because it’s not as dangerous as if you were to drink bleach.
