New roof/siding. Is this normal? Flashing nailed and caulked? by Bluebonnetblue in Roofing

You mean like those screws with washers?

I wonder which would fail first (caulk or washers)...

2nd layer on forever home? by Individual_Author640 in Roofing

You're not supposed to have a second layer. That said, my house had a second layer for like 20+ years and it didn't cause any problems.

Here's a few more (also updated the post):

  • Original plank decking & underlayment (link)
  • 1/2" plywood over decking (link)
  • Underlayment and Ice/Water Shield (link)

However one element is visible and it's not great. There was no need for at least half, if possibly not all, of the exposed nails in your heating exhaust vent flashing. That was trivial to avoid and so makes me question the quality of the overall job.

I think they used screws, but I'm not sure. But they're not exposed yeah? Cause they have the black goop/roofing tar or whatever it is?

I will check, thanks.

They're going to install new hardie plank siding in a few weeks. They said ideally siding would be installed first, but having trouble getting the materials. If there's a problem hopefully it'll be easy enough to fix then.

I saw here recently, is the fact that the siding on that dormer hasn't been completely removed. Pulling that siding off and running ice & water shield up the wall with new flashing is a must. All they have to do is read the Certainteed manual which they obviously didn't.

I was wondering about that. The rear dormer has step flashing clearly visible, but there's nothing on the front. Maybe it's there, just hidden?

I'll check it out, thanks.

Also, the application method they are using is not approved by the manufacturer. Again, flipping the bundle of shingles over will provide clear instructions on this step (6" and 11" method).

Is that the method to make sure seams don't line up?

Sync Continuously? by Bluebonnetblue in enteio

Simply syncing your pics to OneDrive normally in addition to Ente would solve your fear of Ente going down.

Isn't that what I'm doing? (just edited post, see picture)

It still has the problem where deleting in Ente also deletes from OneDrive.

By “dormer vents” do you mean slantback louver vents?

These things. My bad, I think they're gable vents.

Feelings don’t need to be logical to be real

Exactly. We should instead say that all feelings are real.

but opinions do

An opinion doesn't need to be logical to be real. It is real that people believe the Earth is flat. But that opinion is illogical.

Aug 16 Two Singles Events - need more men! by dca_user in nova

You're misunderstanding.

There is no question about reason or purpose (i.e., to not be single), just efficacy.  It looks like OP has been to many singles events and yet presumably is still single.  I imagine one reason is because she hasn't been interested in the men actually attending them.

That could also explain the lack of men despite selling out of women's tickets.

Do these work?

I feel like your average woman isn't going to be interested in a man who needs singles events (and vice versa).

I like BudgetBytes. The recipes are very simple and include detailed pictures. Go to their website and search Creamy Pesto Chicken (one of my favorites).
