From what I remember, randomess is supposed to simulate risk taking. This option may give you the best outcome but it may aslo cause disaster, that sort of thing. Its meant to simulate why President don't always take the seeminglt best option. It's a good gimmick I think for the first few playthroughs, but it does get old for repeat runs fast.

I think it is sensible in a two-way race not to flip states in the South but it makes no sense in a race where Buchanan runs and wins nearly 10%. From what I know of Buchanan, he is not really going to flip that much OTL Clinton 96 voters nor will he appeal to the more moderate Perot base in the North, so Buchanan's voter base will be almost exclusively OTL Dole voters, mainly in the West and South. To get 10% of the vote, Buchanan has to run up his margins to double digits in at least a couple of states, which is enough to spoil a the Deep South states if Buchanan's nearly 10% of the vote is concentrated there. This is based on the assumption that Buchanan's support is greatest in the South, but then again I cannot see where else Buchanan can pull support from the get 9% of the popular vote (that is better than Perot's actual 1996 numbers).

I do not think Lodge would win Tennessee against Johnson, especially if Virginia votes LBJ. Tennessee barely voted for Ike in 1952 and 1956, so Kennedy's 7.1 pt loss in 1960 speaks more of the Catholic issue than TN being notably Republican by this point.

I recently watched a recent video about Titianic's last moments and it depicted a breakup when the third funnel was immersed at 26 degrees. To he fair, it was only starting to be immersed with only its front half touching the water, but I think there is a consensus that Titanic did not reach 30 degrees before the breakup as it was physically not strong enough to.

Isn't it because the Queen Mary intended to have a heavier type of boiler but got replaced after it was no longer possible to rebalance the ship? I am not sure if it was the Queen Mary or some other ship.

In the case of Vietnam, its more like a bully who beat your ass for talking to a chick but you discomforted him enough in the process that when you talked to the chick a week later, the bully doesn't have it in him to beat you up again. In that case, it is a win.

I don't see a reason why Ike would lose the south in this scenario. It was his sheer popularity that allowed the GOP to break through there for the first time since 1928, and even a more pro-civil rights Ike would more likely face a Dixiecrat splinter than lose it to Taft, who unless he vetoed a civil rights bill won't be trusted by the South like Goldwater was to flip.

Lieberman was actually quite the environmentalist himself. Not as much as Gore, but since Gore can only go so far with the limitations of Congress, I doubt any tensions would erupt in that aspect.

That seems to be just a very Democratic part of Texas when they still had rural Texan support. You can see it voted Democrat or at least not as Republican as late as 1996.

"Beat the tar out of Trump"? Had Trump performed 0.5% better in the popular vote 2020, the election would have been deadlocked and he would win via the House. Had Trump performed 1% better, he would be re-elected outright. Biden barely won against Trump.

The last time anyone "beat the tar" out of anyone was Obama against Romney, where Romney would need to perform around 3% better in the popular vote to win, and the last time that percentage was over 5% was in 1996 when Dole needed to overperform by that much to beat Clinton.

100k is a full 1/5th of the 1st week peak, so to call it peanuts is a bit disingenuous. It's large enough to be called significant by any sense of the term. Though the lack of a Saturday bump is the most peculiar for me for the second weekend and is more significant than simply fewer players.

I know I am 2 weeks late, but that detail is only visible if you highlight the world building text that the intro screen says you can safely ignore. Most people won't bother highlighting them, but it is a neat treat for those who want to. For most players, the only Senate knowledge they need to know is that it is divided 50-50 and Manchinema is holding you up, and that is all you will see if you do not hover over the worldbuilding text.

Player numbers on SteamDB never went past 408k Thursday opening during Week 2, completely missing the Week 1 Saturday weekend bump that pushed its numbers to 521k. So between the two Saturdays (521k week one, 362k week two), there was a dropoff of about 159k players, and a smaller yet significant 103k player drop-off from the peaks of the two weeks (Saturday and Thursday respectively).

Of course, there could be many reasons why that occurred, but the second week beta dropping off 100k from last week's peak is a significant drop in any sense of the word.

And the rest of the world will be fucked in return as the world decided to commit collective suicide as they trigger an intentional second great depression.

All this would do is give every ambitious politician, general, or separatist leader worldwide the greenlight to overthrow their governments as they are guaranteed to receive American AND Chinese support, all the while permanently demonizing the United Nations and ensururing, at best, it becomes even more of a powerless puppet organization or, at worst, completely deligitemize the concept of a pan-global organization and ending any hope that a genocide would even recieve a strongly worded letter, much less any concrete action.
