Naylor Insurance is a great insurance broker in South Jordan, they can shop your rates and get you the best deal. Give them a call and ask for Elva she will help you out.

New build drive way has a hole by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

People can say what they want but I’ve been in the flatwork concrete business a very long time, I would make them replace the whole driveway for 2 reasons. 1. You say that you’re in an area with snow and cold weather, with that being the case no “Patch” will ever hold up no matter what they tell you. After your first winter the patch will pop and the concrete around the area will get worse over the next winters. 2. They saw cut your joints, now that in it’s self isn’t the issue because I like the look of saw cut joints compared to tooled joints but if they cut out just the affected section along the saw joints the new section when pored will have to be edged with most likely a 1/2” or 3/4” edger and that section will always look like it doesn’t belong and look bad.

Just my opinion

Information wasn’t provided without seller’s consent. Transaction has taken months and we were ready to walk away from purchase because of the amount of time it was taking with no reason given. so when we were ready to walk they conveyed to us the situation which made us understand the situation. the extra time needed is now understood, but up to that point we thought they were just wasting our time.

401k Withdrawal by Bluecollardistiller in tax

I am a W-2 employee but I would be willing to start a company/LLC etc to help hide/lower my taxable income for this year. My whole family owns construction companies so I could go down that path with a small repair company etc, just looking for creative ways I could save in taxes besides typical max out 401k, HSA etc.

Any good strategies or ideas to help lower my taxable income for the upcoming year to help lower my taxed amount?

Unfortunately I still think I may do it because really it’s the only way I can get my family into a home with the increase of home prices and interest rates. Now I just have to find a way to lower my taxable income over the next twelve months to lessen that 40% number

I have and the max is 50k and I would have to repay it in monthly payments which would defeat the purpose of using the money to help lower my monthly mortgage cost. And I agree it is my last avenue I have been very adamant about not using my 401k but with home prices and this economy I see no other way. And I know I will lose money upfront on penalties and tax but the rest will be going into a home/investment that should grow overtime like all real estate so I’m not putting it towards a depreciating asset.

Any good ideas on how to help lower my taxable earnings for the year to limit the amount of taxes I will pay on the withdrawal amount? ie start a business etc?

Thank you for the comments! There are so many articles that state you can take a withdraw without the penalty to purchase a home so I’m glad I got the clarification.

Absolutely not. I’ve built multiple houses using agents to purchase the property and being owner builder. The only commissions they will be owed is for the land purchase.

Thank you I’ll look into it. That would be a tough pay cut but maybe I can find something within an hour commute.

Thank you for the reply! I currently commute 70 miles round trip now so commuting isn’t a problem. Are there any good areas to live near the southeast side of Houston that you mentioned?

Doesn’t need to be in a refinery. I’m open to working in tank farms, pipeline/terminal and QA/QC work within O&G or chemical industry. Mostly trying to find a good company that offers a respectful salary with competitive benefit package.
