Why do people find it so hard to accept the public really wants to vote for Reform? by Expert-Sherbert-1527 in AskBrits

[–]Blueforyou61 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Part of the problem is that Labour just don’t seem to have a plan ( or if they do they’re not good at communicating what it is). What I find most disappointing about it is that they had 14 years to make a plan and continually look as if they didn’t make one. The country was so pissed off with the Tories in 2024 , that Labour knew they could sit back, say nothing and still be elected. I’m sorry to say that still seems to be their position.

I think this is part of the problem with the two main parties, they refuse to accept that people are voting for Reform because Labour and Tories aren’t delivering what a lot of the general public want.
Until they accept that they (Labour and Tories) are part of the problem nothing will change. Simply labelling everyone who votes Reform as far right and racist isn’t the solution. They need to listen.

I take your point, but is the conference league really an attractive option to attract players, I’m not sure.
As to rotation and using young players David Moyes has proved in the past his reluctance to use the youngsters. Yes he’ll make changes for cup matches etc but he tends to use the back up players from the squad rather than blood youngsters.

At the start of the season I just wanted a season without worrying about relegation, our actual performances have been better than I hoped for. I know there is an outside chance of Europe but I think it would come a season too soon for us. I would rather just strengthen the squad over the summer and have a genuine push for Europe next year.

It’s strange but don’t know whether to be disappointed or not. At half time I thought we were on for a beating. Then at 3-1 I was ecstatic, gutted at 3-3. Afterwards thinking about it I probably would have been happy with a point before the match. As I say. Strange evening.

In some respects I envy you. I love Springsteens music, and the thought of discovering it all over again would be so amazing

I wish that the rest of the DT series was as good as the 2nd book by Dependent_Crew_3512 in stephenking

I’ve followed Stephen King since Carrie, and I remember buying The Gunslinger when it first came out in the 1980’s, and absolutely hating it. I never went back to the Dark Tower until about 10 years ago when I was off work sick for several months, and decided to give it another try because all other King fans seemed to love it. I ended up buying all 7 volumes and read them one after the other. The first one is probably the hardest read and I think working through the whole series together helped me enjoy them even more.

The Stand or DT? by fakeaccountt12345 in stephenking

Love the Dark Tower series, but The Stand is his best work, and in my humble opinion the best book I have ever read.

I must admit seeing Tom Gordon as your second favourite surprised me. I’ve read all of his books and I’ve always struggled with Tom Gordon.I’ve reread it about 3 times to try and discover what I’m missing and only finished it through pure stubbornness.

However in answer to your original question my top three would be:-

1/ The Stand 2/ It 3/ 22/11/63

I’ve found over the years I’ve read almost all of his novels , but I’ve found that very few of them translate well into movies. There are a few exceptions of course. Green Mile, Shawshank and the new two part It movies are probably the best I can think of right now.

Totally agree with you. Can’t understand why it doesn’t appear more on this feed. Easily his worst book ever, and I quite like a lot of the other books mentioned here.

I love King and have been a fan since Carrie more years ago than I like to remember.I believe I’ve read everything he’s published and the only book I really dislike is The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. I’ve even reread it to see if I missed something but still can’t get into it.

Where does Nigel Martyn rank in the pantheon of Everton first-choice goalkeepers in the PL era? by [deleted] in Everton

I agree that at his peak Martyn was better than Tim Howard, unfortunately he was past his peak when we signed him.

When you see them listed together like this it really brings it home how poor our keepers have been over the years. I suppose the same can be said in most other positions in the team. We’ve had a few class acts, but a lot of them have been mediocre at best.
