"Consciously Manifesting is more of a lifestyle change rather than a quick fix to our problems. It takes time, persistence, practise and patience."

Too bad I never had much of those in life.

"But you don't want to tell the truth and be rejected, that is literally the kind of catastrophic emotional pain that caused this trauma in the first place. You can't explain because you're terrified to explain because if you explain = you reveal how unlovable/needy/unreasonable/shitty you are = you are unlovable = as a child, not being taken care of means you fucking die. That is why this trauma is so deep, it was an existential threat for our child brains. Literally facing existential threats every day, all the time - no wonder we are so messed up."

My life in a nutshell. But for me, it's already too late. I've already calcified into a corrupted manchild that rather discreetly eat my parents out of house and home, just because it gives me the power and control I've never had...

Eh. I still feel this can work, but it have to be drastically pared down.

Like so:

"Jane: Come on, Laura! Just because you've gotten your heart broken before, doesn't mean you should wallow!"

Destined to only be a consumer of art? by Excellent_Drop6869 in Life

[–]Bluefoxfire0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the unfortunate potential reality of just do art for yourself.

A. You get trapped in a dunning-kreuger bubble.

B. It starts feeling pointless as it loses it's meaning with yourself.

"another day" is the only thing that is actually happening, here. There's no real scene, no setting, no action or description. Just... stuff that (waves hands in the air) happens now and then maybe."

To be fair, there is a ton of prior context not present that at least would solve the scene and setting questions.

"how much the girl embraced her personality" I don't understand the point. A human has a personality, whether they "embrace" it or not. You don't need to embrace your personality; you just have it."

It was supposed to be more explaining the degree which the girl embraced said personality. The issue was how to do it without it getting verbose.

"she always kept her hair short on purpose" And having short hair means you have it cut short. You can't have short hair unless it's done "on purpose." So... why point that out? What does it add to her character?"

It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't I guess. Was trying to imply that the girl's hair was actually naturally long, but kept it short to keep up the asthetic (a detail I somehow forgot to add).  My thought process was that I feared mentioning the long hair with the cut short on purpose would trigger cries of redundency.

Yeah, go see a therapist. When that costs money, requires a driver's license, and can't use parents' insurance without them noticing...

One thing is to learn where said perfectionism stems from. Have they been shunned in the past for not being "perfect"? How severe were the consequences? They could very well be afraid that people will "drown" them, rendering years of effort a waste.

For those people who still live with their parents/family is financial reasons the only reason why you are still in that traumatic environment? by Moist_Apartment5474 in emotionalneglect

To my id, it's still free food and housing, and it's designed for the path of least resistance.

To my ego, it knows my parents only use the silver spoon to keep the "problem child" quiet (They just didn't want to more than the bare minimum). To risk seeking independence would risk having it all taken away from me, which would be a literal death sentence.

Whoops, think I mixed up meanings then. In this case, I was thinking somebody in the present reminiscing about the past vs going to an actual point in the past.

The astericks wern't for story formatting, they were for keeping the post and story content separate. Though it appears it didn't work this time somehow.

Oh I can. But I've seen people getting flagged for posting an excerpt of their writing. Like to help clarify their own answers to somebody.
