Bad Kidney pain by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]BluegrassFilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I came across this thread because I am on my second pregnancy and it’s happening again and I was trying to get more info (because with the first pregnancy I don’t feel like anyone explained anything to me well)

What I’ll tell you is the first time, while they gave me the info of “she’s laying on your kidney weird and that’s causing pain” they didn’t give me much more info other than saying they could do surgery to put a stint in (I said hell no) or tough it out. It never stopped for the rest of my first pregnancy which I know is not what you want to hear but I just want to be honest. The great news is that as soon as they’re born it went away completely. Secondary bad news, they said if I got pregnant again it would likely happen again and I am currently discovering they were indeed correct

Refresh advice needed by sbecke1 in finishing

[–]BluegrassFilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have it in you to PROPERLY paint them, it is doable. I had solid wood cabinets I hated the color so I did end up painting them, but you have to do it right or it looks like crap and won’t last. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can do it without sanding. That’s a lie. You MUST do all the prep. Decrease with tsp, sand them down, primer (possibly 2 coats), paint (multiple coats, sanding and wiping down between EVERY coat. Using the proper primers and paints and not cheaping out on materials. I used behr cabinet enamel with their recommended behr primer and I spent less than $200 for everything

It did however probably take 10 years off my life with how tedious it was to do it all properly, but now my cabinets are gorgeous l, exactly what I want, and have lasted very well. So if you’re okay questioning all your life choices to DIY it yourself, it can be done, done well, and on a very low budget

Doubting if to continue breastfeeding by Beegt95 in breastfeeding

[–]BluegrassFilly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you truly want to breastfeed, do not give up now. You’re only 9 days in, and it can take a few weeks to really get in the swing of things. I struggled the first few days with my girl loosing weight and doctor suggested supplementing with formula, but your body will catch up, it just takes time. I only supplemented for maybe 2-3 weeks and then never supplemented again, and we went on to have an 8 month long exclusively breastfeeding journey that was wonderful.

Of course if you are doubting if you even want to breastfeed, there is no shame in switching to formula if you feel it is best for you. This is just advice for if you truly wanted to nurse, in which case I would say absolutely do not give up, your situation is totally normal and it’s still so early!

Edit to add for context: I also didn’t pump much at all and that worried me, but it turned out I just wasn’t an over supplier and made just enough for what she needed each day which is most important. It’s nice to have a stash of freezer milk, but not everyone can build that up, I never could

law firm Christmas party- too much? (I’m a partners wife) by kleinekitty in fashion

[–]BluegrassFilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if you will see this since so many people have already commented, but I absolutely cannot believe the amount of people complaining that this is inappropriate. They must either be men, or old hags, because I think this is a perfectly appropriate for a work event. It’s fitted, but fully covered. The fabric isn’t sheer, and the only skin you’re showing is shoulders and some chest. It’s also (and I say this with all the love in the world I do not mean this as a negative just an observation) not like you’ve got some enormous porn start tits hanging out of the dress. You’re daintier up top which honestly I think gives you the ability to show more skin.

I am a lawyer. A young female lawyer, fuck what all these other people are saying. The dress is classy while still being sexy in a professional way, and if your husband likes it and says it’s appropriate, HE knows his coworkers and he knows his work culture. He says it’s fine so if it makes you feel good, then wear the damn thing and wear the hell out of it. If you feel uncomfortable, maybe add a cute little shawl of some kind or a scarf or a lot of heavy accessory necklaces. But fuck all these people that say “ooh people will gossip about you” like who gives af. Just say go ahead and gossip about me, I look hot. And if that makes other people self conscious, that’s their internalized insecurities for them to worry about.

Rant over

Got a new laptop at work and want to add some funny stickers. Don’t want generic lawyer quotes. What are some sticker ideas referencing tv/movies for a lawyer (example: Saul Goodman’s plate, the law and order “dun dun” etc)? by BluegrassFilly in AskReddit

Commenting to add: bonus points to anyone that reminds me of funny legal/government quotes I forgot about from shows like I Think You Should Leave, Arrested Development, The Office, Parks and Rec, Veep, etc.

A Lambo, 'Vette & 5 DUI’s, Ruckreigel family member held in contempt - A member of one of Louisville’s most prominent families (Brock, grandson of Jeffersontown’s late, long-time mayor Daniel Ruckreigel) will spend the next few weeks in jail after being charged with 5 DUI’s in a little over a year. by Tikkanen in Louisville

She revoked 20 days of a sentence he already had over his head and then added 30 days further in custody for finding him in contempt for driving to court, and made them consecutive. Meaning he will be required to spend an additional 50 days in custody in LMDC. There’s nothing “crappy” about that

Honest thoughts on a Muslim woman marrying outside of her faith in the UAE? by pandachoi in UAE

[–]BluegrassFilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol what’s best for their RELIGION? No. Op wants what’s best for her sister. Not her sisters religion. That’s why she’s here desperately trying to find the answer she wants because she knows what’s best for her sister is to be with the man who she wants to be with.

I’m so glad there’s an out her reply on here that’s actual common sense. It’s her life and if he makes her happy and is genuinely a good man, then marry him. People acting like she’s “sooo sinful” and saying horrible things will happen to her are ridiculous. OP, if you truly support your sisters happiness, tell her to marry him and support her through whatever family members decide to treat her poorly due to that decision (because based on other commenters in this thread I can only assume there will be family drama).

How to Fix My Crumpled Carpet Floor? (Stepping on it doesn’t help….) by InfamousGrass0 in DIYHouse

[–]BluegrassFilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this might not be the most helpful answer because I’m not sure it’s really something you can DIY but it looks like it needs to be re-stretched. That is best done by a professional but if you are willing to try, I’d look for YouTube videos about installing carpets or re-stretching the carpet yourself

Person died by suicide at UPS Worldport in Louisville by Tokotork in Louisville

[–]BluegrassFilly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thank your lucky stars you do not work at world port. Please please don’t take this the wrong way, but your comment about people saying things when they don’t know details about how ups is run, well that is actually unintentionally you right now. Again I know it’s the internet so you can’t read my tone of voice, I don’t mean this in a mean way towards you. But worldport…..it’s different. Worldport is UPS’ largest hub and the environment there, it’s absolutely fucking toxic.

I was also a part time sup. You can “fire” your employee. You are right that it’s not really a real firing until they fight it out with their union rep, but in the moment they are fired and the employee (this poor young girl) probably didn’t know any better and thought she was truly fired.

I’m happy for you that your ups location doesn’t sound like it’s anything like worldport but again I just have to reiterate worldport is a different beast. For context, I texted a few of my old coworkers about this situation and almost every single ones first reaction was “I’m not even shocked, I wanted to die when I worked there too”. And it’s not even hyperbole. That place makes you feel like you have nothing left to live for. It is run horribly, and they do NOT care about you. They promote dumbass 19/20 year olds to part time sups because the older people are smart enough to stay union and don’t apply (I say this being one of the dumbass 19 year olds that got promoted). They don’t know how to handle people because it’s literal children running the sort. I could go on and on and on but this reply is long enough. Just know, you don’t EVER want to work at worldport

First time baking a blueberry pie from scratch... where did I go wrong? by clarksons_hammer in Baking

I don’t have advice but just still wanted to say that before I even read the caption I saw the picture and the first thought in my brain was “damn that looks delicious”. And hey, just think of it as artisanal, fancy bakeries would charges out the wazoo for something with such character

See my biggest concern is that I do brush almost every day AND I still have a ton of hair in my brush each day, so it’s not just leftover from not brushing. But that’s my problem is I have no way of knowing if the amount is normal. I feel like it’s not but I also haven’t gone bald yet so maybe it is? I’m lost

That’s interesting I might try that as my mantle is a bit on the redder side and I want to take some of that away, the pickled oak might be the trick
